Where'd my muse go????

I need help. Seriously.
Apparantly, my muse has abandoned me, and I can't think of ANY ideas. Like I had to give up on Pyromaniac because my non-muse led me to a dead end.
So any ideas on how I can stimulate my muse? (Oh, and yes, I have been to the NaNo archives, but I don't particularly like their ideas. I'm picky.)

Rosey ~ Thanks for the tip. I'm not so into historical fiction, but I guess I could steal some stuff (like the Great Depression; that'd be interesting).
I guess the same could also work for science. Like I was watching Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel the other day. It was the episode with the caves, and I just thought, "That'd make a beautiful setting."

Well, what usually sends my muse into a frenzy, trying to get me to write again, is reading quotes, and looking at avatars/wallpapers and whatnot. I prefer to go to iconator.com. They have avatars, icons, wallpapers, away messages. And not only do the quotes re-ignite my muse, but if I find a spiffy new avatar or wallpaper to use, then I've killed two birds with one stone!

Reading. A lot. Seriously, it's become so I can't even get through a book without thinking - "oooh, and what if Character A was this instead of that, and Character B decided to... And what it were all happening in..." Course, not many of those ever get past the musing stage, but it's always inspiring.

Also, there's a thread further down about a very addicting and very inspiring site. Might want to give that a try too.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I actually started writing a short story in the past half hour.

I try and find an friend that I could bass a character on or if you can't find a friend maybe a famous or historical person. I an other thing that helps is re reading a favorite book and find a character you love from there and pinch bits of there personality , not stuff that makes them important and inveigle to the story in the first place but little things like that colour of there eyes ect and work on that. Oh and music helps too
