Lord of The Rings or Harry Potter?

Personally I like Harry Potter better, I tried reading LOTR many times but only got so far, it just doesn't have the way to grasp me. But which do YOU like better? and why?

I personally like Harry Potter better. LOTR is too drawn out in some parts, especially the descriptions of the settings. I absolutely LOATHED when they were describing their battle schemes. It bored the heck out of me. Also, Harry Potter is a lot easier to follow.

I am not a fan of the LOTR books, they never seemed to make me want to read them, I kind of "slugged" through them.
So I have to say Harry Potter because I generally want to read them.

LoTR! Harry Potter was okay on the first read, but I just couldn't stand it when I reread it. I think it's because I grew up with the books, so what I liked when I was in middle school isn't the same as now.

Lord of the Rings all the way!!! Harry Potter just dives too much into dark magic territory for my liking, so I generally stay away from those kind of books.

As you can probably see I'm a massive Lotr fan, but I'm also a massive HP fan. But overall I think LOTR is better written and more interesting.

LotR seems to be more well... "professionally" written but the world that JK Rowling created in HP is way more interesting for me. If I were to choose a fictional best friend, I would choose Hermione or Ron. If I were to choose a world/place, I'd choose Hogwarts. HP really is that book you cannot forget and it stays with you forever. Plus, the humour in HP is not present in LotR. I like them both though.

HP all the way. Treatments on Muggles and goblins or house-elves scream out the issue of discrimination - how can you guys say it's childish? Plus, HP is full with mysteries, and the way the characters solve them just shows how brilliant Rowling is.

However, I haven't read LotR at all, so I'm 100% biased. XD
