Its kind of been a concern of mine lately. I wanted to know is it bad to always think of book titles first and then write? I always seem to come up with book titles in the strangest of places, even in my most private moments and when I do, I can start to jump into chapter one in my mind and so on from there...if someone can tell me is ot ok to do this and if so what do you call it?

I know its weird

Whatever gives you ideas to write is perfectly fine. Some people like to outline, some people come up with characters first, some people do mixtures of things. If coming up with titles first is your thing than go for it. Plus, a title is really important because it gives people the first impression. That seems like a good place to start to me. (:

No need to worry about that! I do exactly the same thing. I obsess over titles and can't start or write until I have one in mind that I love. I'm not sure what to call it, but it's not a bad thing. Just one of those writer quirks!

That's no problem. It's best to write whenever inspiration strikes you. Tolkein was correcting a paper in university when he got the idea of Middle-Earth. I was doing my final exams when I got the idea for a contest entry. I spent almost the rest of the time outlining it.

Well, whatever works for you. I can't seem to get titles. I cannot write when confined to one specific topic, so it's kind of difficult for me. Anyone who can do this (which is almost everyone) has my respect. Anyway, that's a good way to write. I'd love to be able to do it. I'm not exactly sure what you call it though.
There once was a cat.
He wasn’t particularly fat.
Fuzzy was his favorite mat.
And really, that was that.

Oh, but did you really think so?
Keep reading, it’s just the start of the show!
And as for how far this tale will go…
Well, even the cat doesn’t know.

Not bad at all. I wish I could come up with titles fast. I usually come up with the title halfway through the piece.

Starting with titles is no bad thing! If you have loads, put them somewhere safe, preferably in a special ideas box. That way you can quickly retrieve them when they are needed.
