I need an idea (NOW!)

I need an idea for a book. My current novel is going well, but I'm putting it on hold till I get all the hand-written stuff typed. I started a short story yesterday, but the idea was so one-sidedly cliched that I just completely gave up today.
So I need a new idea. A sales pitch, if you will. And a good one. One I can play around with and actually write a whole book about. Please? I'm desperate.

Oh, and by the way, I usually write fantasy, but I'd do realistic or sci-fi. Historical would be pushing it (a lot).

I would love a good ghost story! I haven't heard/seen/read that many that really send a shiver down your spine!

Okay, I think I have a plot, though I'll have to spend some more time browsing NaNo till I'm sure. So combine the whole X-men mutant super power deal with teen angst, and moving after your poor family wins the lotto and you pretty much have my disastrous plot.

It's not disastrous! Anything can happen in the world of fiction. You just have to make us as readers buy into the fiction.

Alright, so the title's definitely gonna be Pyromaniac; so look out for me in the forums (I'm thinking either Fantasy or Other?
