mutli-genre

when you are writing a mutli-genre work, where you would you place it?

my work(i haven't started it yet) has action, romance, and fantasy. I need to know where i can place it without breaking any rules.

Most fantasy tends to have action and romance, so I would post it there.

But it's your call. What element do you think you incorporate the most?

I would have to say action, but there is going to be a mage in the story.

It sounds like fantasy to me.

I would say action is more like a war novel, thriller or James Bond thingy.

What quality is most present in your story?

But really, when it all boils down, where you put your story won't matter a whole lot. Romance can have fantasy and action. Action can have fantasty and romance. Fantasy can have action and romance.

Just don't put it in Other Fiction. I'm tired of people with these kinds of problems sticking their stuff there as a solve-all. /rant\

the quality that is most present is action, but like i said before, there is a mage in it and it does take place in another world.

alright. looks like it is going into the fantasy section of YWS.

Stick it in one that has a lower turnover, that way people will get more of a chance to read it . Fantasy, for example, has one of the bigger turnovers, so have a look at action or romance.

Try having this problem when you're querying literary agents, trying to get it published.

"Well, the narrator's seventeen, so I guess it's young adult, and HALF of it takes place in a fantasy world, but it's not like swords-and-dragons fantasy, it's kind of like urban fantasy, because after a little bit the fantasy starts to bleed over into reality...but it's not really urban fantasy, cuz there aren't any werewolves...um....

That is a riot! Problem is, pretty much everything here is a YA novel.
