The new creature was some what interesting to me, not in that he was cute and I had an immature teenage girl crush on him. In the way that he let off an air of either being a big brother, or a complete monster... But, unlike the others I wasn't affriad of him and I wouldn't be. He'd stopped me from answering Zire's question of why I was here, I would surely find sometime to thank him for that but I promised myself just then that I wouldn't look him in the eyes because I was affriad he'd think I was weird for how my eyes looked.

"Maddox, love. You okay?" asked Nokie after a while of silence, Ballow raised and eyebrow at me and Danielle and Zire looked at me with confusion. I looked away from them all and sighed, folding my arms around me once more.

"It's just weird being the youngest here, you all clearly surpass me by age and I guess I'm still use to being the oldest..." I stopped talking them, cutting myself off from them but I knew they were watching me...

Nokie eyed the newcomer warily. He was strange, and Nokie wasn't sure what he should think of him.
I'll keep an eye on him, he decided. No one takes anyone of my height seriously in any case.
Turning his attention back to the now silent Maddox, Nokie patted her arm comfortingly. "Hey, brighten up love. At leas' you don't look like a mutant seven year old."
That awarded him with a small smile, and he grinned back. Looking up at the new guy, he lifted his chin defiantly. This guy towered over Nokie, but he was used to that. "Murder, huh? I can't claim tha' to my list of crimes and misdoings. No' yet. Did ya do it? Or just accused?"
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

"The humans exiled me for it" said Ballow.
I should have known. Nekoens and Neotac's were frequently accused of murder and assassination, why? just because they happened to be there at the wrong time. Humans hated us, as we were better than them, ideal creatures to commit murder with no evidence to be seen. We were more numerous, fast, handsome than humans. They loathed us and finally started to exterminate us..... slowly.
"Is that so" said Nokia
"And you what were you exiled for?" He asked from me
I half knelt down and looked at the grains of sand "I'm a Hired Assassin" I whispered load enough for only them to hear fiddling with the sand.

I tried to hear what Zire had said, but it was really quiet. I figured he wasn't that interested in telling people what he'd done. I didn't blame him. I sort of BS'ed my answer as well. I watched him look at the sand curiously.

"Well, we better get going. It's getting pretty dark," I said matter of factly. Everyone began to walk towards the trees.

Just then I saw a figure walking towards us. Not another one, I thought, not sure who I should trust. The more people came the more on gaurd I had to be since these could be dangerous people.

**I kinda brought you in!**

I looked up, feeling Danielle turn stiff. I sniffed the air, something I hadn't really done in quite a while and then turned my head in the direction of another quickly approaching... thing. Well, I couldn't call it human after seeing all of the others in my group, but I couldn't quite call it creature either, because of what I was.

"Guys, um... I another person it coming" Danielle said, clearly she wasn't sure to be in attack mode yet.

"Don't worry, he doesn't smell like a threat" I told them all. They looked at me funny, well, not Ballow, but everyone else. "Yes, I can smell people. Think of me as like a cross between a fox-dog-cat thing, so clearly my senses are inhanced... Learn your Fennec history" I said and once again looked away, but once again felt the eyes burning into the back of my head...

Ballow

I stared at Maddox, her sense were even sharper than mine. The look on my face was one of admiration and envy, I wished I had that kind of sensory.

I wondered if her vision was as good. Something kicked up my Nekoen senses - blood, my race was partial to it and knew its scent. Dried blood it was . . . no, it was the scent of washed off blood that filled my nose.

I moved my sight over to the approaching man, person thing. I squinted, yes, he was a human, but the scent of washed off blood was the only thing I could smell. It washed over all my senses and the blood scent was the only thing I was aware of.

Though I watched him as he moved towards us the only thing that I noted subconsciously was that he was definitely the source of the tantalizing aroma. I would never eat another human it was against my custom and morals, but the smell of that man.

It floated off to me and engulfed me, I was aware of myself mentally holding myself away from him. I stopped breathing for a second. Instantly my normal state of mind came back but the smell lingered in my nostrils.

A bit of drool rolled out of my mouth and I wiped it off, hoping no one would see. I attempted a smile and wave at the man as he came close enough to see us properly.

The scent . . . was intoxicating me with every step he came closer. So many different scents I then realized. Masses of different scents, but all very distinctly human blood though from obviously different sources.

The man stared at us coldly for a second and I waved for him to come nearer even though what I really wanted him to do was run far away from me before I attacked him. Really I didn't want to eat him . . . but . . . the smell.

Tears of frustration at myself ran down my cheeks, but I ignored them and put on another smile. The man smiled back, but to me I knew it was fake.

A coldness drifted around him, like frozen atmosphere and I knew that was what he was like inside. I began to talk, I just wanted to somehow forget the reek of all that blood, "What brings you out here?"

Then the worse thing in the world happened, a gust of wind came and blew every single tiny different scent and smell with such a force that I was knocked over by it. I sat on the floor trying to regain myself as he walked over to me.

NO!!!! Leave me alone! I'm bloody going to attack you! I was screaming it in my mind. As if taking pity on me Maddox squatted next to me and put a hand to my forehead, "Are you sick?"

Clearly she was used to being the oldest of siblings, but the scent of her hand took away every thought. It was a calming scent, almost flowery, but not quite. I let my head fall back. She had managed to fight back my instincts - thank god.

This was one of the reasons humans blamed Nekoens for everything - we had once fed on them and it was deeply embedded into our instincts. But seeing the error of our ways we made a treaty with them.

They had thought I had broken that treaty and that was why I was exiled. But the smell of so many people's blood just washing over me at once - it made me homicidal! Even though the blood was old and had been washed off - I could smell it as clearly as if it was right infront of my face in a wine glass with a straw.

I groaned and took another whiff of Maddox scent. Ahh, Fennec. I wonder why you went
extinct for?

The guy who smelled so much of blood was looking at us, as if assessing us.

I walked to where Ballow sat now, alone.

"Do not lose control now Nekoen. You know what will happen to me if you do" I whispered into his ear as he tried to stand up.

His face grew pale and i knew he knew what i meant. It was an ancient instinct for Nekoens to smell the essence of blood which had been dried for a long time or blood that had not even been spilled yet, but Neotacs were different, they could not smell the blood inside a human body even if they tried, though they could guess almost everything about a person if they drank or even touched the blood of that person. But unlike vampires once a Neotac or a Nekoen tastes the blood of a human they are driven to...... use that person as food.

"Its you that has to worry" snapped Ballow as he stood up

"There you are right, i have to worry about you touching that morsel, who seems to be very tasty to you" I said licking my lips "I wonder why though. And we don't wan to.... scare our new friends do we brother?"

He sighed "That smell, the blood, i could not have survived if it wasn't for the Fennec."

"yes i know, they have a very distinguishable smell, it soothes us, so its good she is around." I said then added "Take care" as i went to greet the new arrival.

*Yeppers, that's fine ^^, its really the essence of human blood which Nekoens can smell. So if it's dried they can smell it or if its been washed off thoroughly, they can still smell it. - because the essence/scent always lingers.*

Ballow

I swallowed and followed Zire as he walked towards the new guy. Maddox was still near me - thank god, because the guy was getting closer. I suppressed the need to leap at him only by inhaling the Fennec's scent.

Did he know that so much blood lingered about him? After glancing at him and the frosty cill that he gave me I decided that he probably did.

I latched on the naive Maddox's shoulder and stood behind her, pushing her towards the new guy. I felt slightly guilty at forcing her to move, but was curious and I really didn't want to kill anyone today.

She was trying to dig her feet into the ground, but being the stick figure that she was she put up less to little resistance. Finally we were close enough to the new guy and I gazed at him curiously.

A tan was already setting in for being exiled too long. Strange . . ., "How long have you been out here?"

I don't know why I did it, but I blurted it out anyway. He glanced at me, "Pretty long."

Geh, what a vague answer . . , "What's your name?"

I think I was going crazy from the aroma of all the blood scent, because the questions that came form my mouth just kept on flowing, didn't they?

"Helios."

Oh, that was a nice name. It suited him in my view. I sidled up to Maddox and took one big whiff of her scent before walking over to the man and reaching out a hand, "I'm Ballow. I here for murder. You here for?"

The man ignored my hand and instead smiled coldly, "Mass."

I raised an eyebrow slightly insulted that he had rejected my handshake. Fennec's scent was still with me, but slowly Helios blood-scent was getting to my mind. I took a step back and then pondered his answer.

He'd been exiled for going to church? No, that couldn't be right. I then began to think of other things that could be related.

It then struck me and I stuttered it out loud in front of everyone, "M-ma-mass murder?!!?"

The cold smile stayed in place and I don't think anything at that moment wiped it off. No wonder he had so much blood scent lingering about him! There scores upon scores of different tasting blood scents that hung around him and now I understood who they belonged to.

All the people he had murdered. In shock I took a few steps back, "Did you want to do it? The murders I mean?"

I was right, the questions that rolled out of my mouth seemed never-ending.

Nokie frowned at the newcomer, and at Ballow's and Zire's hushed conversation. Something wasn't right.
He went to stand by Maddox, staring towards the trees in the distance. "We need to get ou' of the desert."
Maddox nodded. "Yeah."
"Before we pick up any more murderin' scum."
Maddox looked down sharply, shocked. "What?"
Nokie sighed, and pointed to the newcomer, and Ballow. "The one on the ground basically admitted to bein' a murderer, love. This new guy, look at his sleeve. See that stain? It ain't dirt, love. He's got a conscience that's not all clean and squeaky either."
"Who are you to judge, Nokie?"
"Hey! I ain't killed anyone. Just taken a little extra on top of what life gave me, is all."

"Seems that there are a lot of murderers here" I said walking to where Ballow was.

I may have been and may still be cold hearted but that did not mean that i would let my kin down.

I took a deep breath, examining the smells of the blood, i could almost feel the hurt and pain of those who had died, a pity.

"You smell very.... appetizing" I said licking my lips.

For a moment everyone stood still and was silent except for Ballow. The first to realize what was happening was the Fennec. She looked from Helios to Ballow and then her face turned a little pale. She being a non human like us knew the history of the races that we were of. The next to recover was Helios who's smile had faded and a face of shock had appeared, now disappeared. The rest still stood looking at me.

"What? It was only a joke?" i asked smiling innocently, so innocently that they forgot about it a few seconds later and smiled.

"So Helios, I'm Zire" I added to the newcomer kindly "I'm extremely glad to meet someone of a similar.... reason to get exiled. But please if you don't mind, try to get that blood off your clothing"

I was stunned when Zire said the word "Appetizing". I mean I was honestly a little happy to have another human here, maybe he brought some normal food with him. I didn't have any idea what anyone eats, but apparently humans?

I kept an eye on Zire after that. I mean, his excuse was something, but I could tell there was something strange going on with him and Ballow about the new guy. I just hoped we could get out of the dessert soon. I was so sick of the sand.

"Ok, now that we have everyone, are you guys ready to get to the woods?" I looked up at the sky, and it was getting pretty dark. I didn't want to have to sleep in the dunes again.

"Alright, love. Let's go," Nokie said, bouncing ahead of us. Ballow stayed close to Maddox, which seemed weird to me, and the new comer stayed to himself towards the back of the group. I migrated over towards Zire.

"So where did you used to live?" I asked conversationally. It felt so unfamiliar to me to be holding a conversation with someone so unique. I was facsinated with all thses new species.

He looked at me curiously, but didn't answer right away. I felt nervous, so I continued on my own.

"I'm from Dester. That's sort of close to here. It's down kind of that way," I pointed behind me. He still didn't say anything, so I rambled a little more. "I'm not really used to seeing not humans around. I mean no one in my village were like you or Maddox or Nokie, or anything. It's just kind of weird..." I trailed off. "Well, say something," I finally blurted, punching his arm playfully.

Nokie overheard, and span around so he was walking backwards, a big grin plastered over his face. "Ain't no-one like me anywhere, love. I'm unique."
The human frowned. "There's no other...monkey tree people things?"
"Oh there's others, darling. But they are all dull and serious. There's no one else like me." Nokie winked and span back around, and after studying their destination for a moment, raced off towards the trees.
He had got about four steps when his foot caught in something and he went sprawling to the sand, much to everyone else's amusement.
"Are you alright, Nokie?" Maddox asked over the laughter.
"Yeah, takes more then that to hurt ol' Nokie, love. Just... what did I trip on?" Nokie picked himself up and peered at the sand.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
