The Friendship Bracelet around my wrist.
It's cutting off my circulation.
The words no and stop
mean nothing to you.
My words never seem to enter your head
because the shield of smoke encircles your face.
My hands are bare, and strong, and there.
You push them aside
and pretend that if I am not with you
I won't see what was happening.
But I know. I've known all along it was you.
With the hidden cans, the needles in the waste paper basket,
and the fans always blowing 'cause your room reeks of smoke.
Then when your parents arrive, instead of acting high,
you pretend to be sleeping and they never ask why.
And Then when ever I call you up, you always say you're were too busy.
Too busy for me? Your Best Friend Forever.
We used to say till the end but that might be sooner than expected.
