Mikael charged at me, fueled by hatred and with fire burning in his eyes he came straight at me. He knocked me down and then we were tussling around on the floor like children. Still grappling with each other, we rolled across the floor and I was knocked against the stone slab on which Danie lay, yet she slept on undisturbed.
We disconnected and I came away holding a tuft of Mikael's hair. My surprise at this could have given Mikael the chance he needed, had ne not rolled away into the grasp of Genima. She had a firm hold on his shoulder and onto his knees was as far as he had been able to get up. He didn't even bother struggling - which I thought was odd - as she stared icely down at him, breathed "Traitor" and stabbed him in the back - literally - with a blade I had never seen her with before. A blade which now stuck about a foot out of Mikael's chest. He looked down at it, dazed at first before he began to chuckle. The chuckle led to a guffaw and then a cackle as he dissolved into black dust and glided out of the door behind Genima. When the cackling had subsided I asked Genima where she'd got that sword from.
"There's no time! After him," she cried, "I've always had it" she added reluctantly as she disappeared through the door and around the corner to the left. I took a step to follow her then froze in my place for a moment. Left? If I remember correctly from my last visit that lead to the central chamber....the throne room. I hurried after Genima and Mikael, leaving Danie snoozing on the stone.
Damn, i thougth, how did she escape? I looked deep with in her soul and let loose her worst fears. Shes stronger than i thought. more importantly she still carries that accusred wight blade. Now im stuck like this till i can find somewhere more appropriate to reform. Will i ever get my chance to kill the Hunter or will i forever be foiled by his accomplices? It was while i contemplated this that i had an idea. Now all i had to do was steal the ruby.
I rushed into the throne room and saw Genima stood staring around at the vast space. Everywhere you looked there were clusters of vampires frozen forever in final battle cries. It made my skin prickle to think that I could remember being there when they under-went their transition from living...well breathing creatures to these stone reminders of past wars. And there in the very centre of the room stood the most grandoise and expensive throne you could never imagine. I almost had a nostalgic moment as I remembered the King who once occupied this throne, and how I'd blown his brains out.
"Admiring the view?" I chuckled.
"No," she replied, irritated, "Just...where'd he go?" Good point I thought uneasily. "I mean he came in he..." Genima stopped short when she turned to look at me, "There," she pointed at me.
That's when I felt something curling round my shoulders and onto my chest. It was black dust, and it was heading for the ruby hanging from the chain round my neck. I'd forgotten about it for a second during the quest, but then I remembered it had belonged to Mikael's father and was what all of this was about. I tried to bat the dust away but contact with it stung my skin and all either of us could do was stare helplessly as Mikael consumed the ruby and, ripping it from my chain, carried it around the throne room to each of the stone vampires who dotted the place. As the ruby passed each of them the stone began to crumble away and hundreds of very angry, very alive...well moving vampires began breaking out of their ancient prisons and it wouldn't take long for them to recognise me. When he had completed a full circuit of the cavern Mikael, still just dark dust, came to rest next to his father's throne. The dust curled up into the air and soon solidifed into a Mikael now sporting an already healing scar vertically down his chest and holding the ruby between two claw-like finger nails. He exhaled one long breath and, smiling malevolently, simply said,
"Strength in numbers right?" His fangs glinted eerily in the half-light as the newly awakened vampire horde closed in on us.
Waking grogily she sighed. SHe was still bound as not to just run away if she ever did awake. Laying there, looking up at the glowing ceiling she heard noises. Cackling? It soon stopped and a dead silence filled the hall that lead from her room. Then foot steps. She turned to find a little boy. He'd gotten out of having to fight the visitors and was told to shoo. Instead he'd found himself a snack.
Her eyes grew big as she watched the boy come closer with pure black eyes and pointy teeth. Vampire. She knew it was probable inevitable to try and fight him but fight as best she did. He bit down and her movement stopped. With one last human instinct she cried out. Loudly too.
The next 'breath' she took she wasn't human. With one movement the ropes fell form her and the boy stepped back. "WIll you be my mummy?" He asked.
"Yes. I will be your mummy." As she took his hand she stood and led him towards the scent of vampires.
Genima:
She heard it but didn't beleive it. Turning to the hunter she looked at him questioningly.
We've all been broken in some way. It's just how we express it that makes us dffrent form eachother.
“This precious book of love, this unbound lover, To beautify him only lacks a cover.” ~William Shakespeare, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
Genima deserved some answers but we really didn't have time for it now so I gave her a quick "We have history" and turned to face the swarming vamps surrounding us. Genima, although obviously confused, readied her weapon as I readied mine; I guessed she'd very quickly decided that even other vampires could be killed when they were trying to kill you.
"How many do you think we can take out?" she asked coldly.
"All of them" I grinned as I flung myself into the nearest group.
Vampires thrashed around every side of me. At first I blindly stabbed with my short sword, holding my pistol firmly in my other hand ready for when there was more space in which to use it. I have no idea how many I took down, and was certainly too pre-occupied to see how many Genima was fighting, but I distinctly remember decapitating at least three before they closed in around me again, pushing slightly wounded ones out of the way in their hunger to reach me. I maimed plenty, lopping limbs off left right and centre, but they just kept coming - even some of the maimed ones, clubbing others out of the way with their own severed limbs in order to reach me. One rushed staright at me and his arms were on my shoulders before I even reacted. I couldn't swing my sword properly at him so instead I swung my pistol up into his stomach and left rip a shot or two. The shots rang out clearly and echoed for ages as the echoes escaped into the furthermost regions of the top of the tall chamber and any vampires standing behind my victim were showered in guts and blood as the bullets ripped straight through him and out of his back. Also, although everything moved way too quickly for me to see for certain - and I was soon swept up in another bout of close quarters combat - I'm pretty sure one of the bullets, upon exiting the one vampires back, had, by the most unimaginable luck, hit another vampire right between the eyes. I felt spurred on by this supposed lucky shot and continued ripping vampires to shreds with a combination of pistol shots and sword strikes with renewed vigour.
"You fool hunter" i laughed watching his wasted atempt to kill the few animated soldiers. "Go ahead kill as many as you like. Look around you. Every blow you strike and head you chopped undone." i laughed and raised the crystal again watching the hunters look of fear as the Zaranastra peiced each other back toghether. "And now they how you fight" i smirked "Zaranastra capture the HUnter and the vampire if you can. If not kill her." i rose and walked toward the door "Now i must go and deal with my new bride and son" i smiled at his expression "oh didn't i tell you? Danie is one of us now" I laughed and walked down the corridor towards the call of my sons mind.
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.
