EDIT:
I changed it from 3rd person POV to first person. Let me know if I missed anything! Also, if the change in characters' POV is confusing, let me know and maybe give me a suggestion on how to change it. Thanks!
The next morning, I went to Conqet's house to spend the day. When I got there, I found that Kitsune was there too, but she was crying.
"Kitsune, what's wrong?" I asked her.
Kitsune closed her eyes and shook her head. She breathed in heavily and shut her eyes even tighter. Just then, I felt something strike me on the back of the head. A killer pain echoed endlessly in my head. I saw a flash of white, then a flash of black, and the sight of Conqet’s living room appeared in front of me before I blacked out for the last time.
*Rayne's POV*
I was asleep and recovering from my numerous fights the night before when an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach hit me. It felt like something bad was happening to Larara. Ever cautious, I left the house and raced towards the source of the feeling. My chase, oddly enough, led me to the beach. In the distance, I could make out a tiny shack, mucky and wet from years of exposure to the sea. The feeling grew stronger as I stared at it. I hated this sensation I felt, but I knew something was very wrong. So, I ran towards it until I came up to the old, beaten down shack and fearlessly pushed open the piece of wood that served as a door.
I cautiously crept inside and looked around until my eyes landed on something that made the innervation stop entirely. It was a wolf. But I knew her. She had been a friend of mine for a very very long time, and I hadn't seen her in forever. She was sleeping on top of a huge chest. I barked and she stirred. She lifted her head and looked down at me. Her tired expression changed to a happy - no, ecstatic - one when she recognized me. She was a gorgeous wolf, with a graphite colored coat and an icy blue-grey spot over her left eye and a patch at the tip of her tail. She leaped down from her perch and began sniffing me, familiarizing herself with me again. I nuzzled her, then began to explain to her what was happening. She was eager to help me. I knew that vampires couldn't be bitten by wolves and somehow, so did she.
When we left the shack, the excitation in my stomach returned, so we followed it again. We ended the chase at Conqet's house. When we got there, we saw an SUV speed off, so we raced after it. We made sure that we stayed out of the sight of the rear view mirror and chased it to its destination. It was my love for Larara and the strength of our friendship that kept us going. After we left Conqet's neighborhood, we ran off to the side of the road and behind any brush or foliage we could find so that we didn't get spotted by any humans. Finally, the SUV stopped, but it was at a peculiar location.
It was the middle of nowhere. Smack dab in the middle of the desert. The vampires got out of the SUV and my eyes narrowed when I saw what they had with them. Daikon and Nukum were carrying Larara and Conqet. They climbed a big hill where Daikon looked up to a cloudy grey sky and whistled loudly. Just then, a greenish colored plane came down and landed next to them. They all boarded the plane. As the plane was getting ready to take off, I noticed that the outer entrance to the cargo hold was left open, so we ran at top speed and manged to get inside. We made ourselves comfortable and flew off to...wherever it was we were going.
*Larara's POV*
Regaining consciousness I had somehow lost, my eyes struggled to open. They darted around, taking in my new surroundings. I was laying on something kind of hard. My hands lingered over the surface I was on. It felt like three or four cushioned chairs lined up in a row. The roof above me was rounded and made of steel. The grey color gave me a cold sensation that got worse the longer I stared at it. I closed my eyes again and listened. I heard the faint roar of a large engine, and I could feel myself moving. As my thoughts cleared, I realized that I was on a plane to...somewhere. At first, I thought I was dreaming. Then I tried to sit up. The striking pain that thundered through my skull told me that this was no dream; I was wide awake. My arm slowly moved up and grabbed my head, allowing me to sit. I sighed deeply and rubbed an aching spot on the back of my head. My eyes opened again and I saw Kitsune across the aisle from me, her legs stretched across another row of seats. A completed Rubik's cube sat in her lap. She smiled vaguely.
"Welcome back," she said.
I stared at her. "What happened?" I asked.
"It's a long story," she muttered, her face slowly falling. "But don't worry about it. You wouldn't have agreed to this if we didn't do it, so it was for the better, I promise." She smiled again.
I looked out the window behind her. "Where are we going?"
"You'll see in just a little bit. Conqet woke up about an hour before you did," she told me.
"Conqet's here too?" I asked, a little surprised. I had no idea what had happened before I got here.
Kitsune nodded. "Yes, she's here. Just relax a little. I imagine your head probably still hurts, so sit tight. We'll be there in a bit."
I thought about replying, but the thought that it took to come up with a response made my head hurt more, so I decided against it. I laid back against the window behind me and closed my eyes, trying to recover from my mysterious njury. Kitsune picked up the cube and started over. I listened to the clicking sound it made every time she turned it. I noticed that every time she finished it, she waited for about five minutes or so before she started it again. She must have started over at least seven times.
Finally, we landed. I had to brace myself every time the plane bumped across the landing pad. The constant jolt made me a little queasy. I kept my eyes shut until I heard the door open. Daikon stared at me as he walked past. I made an attempt at glaring at him, but I wound up just narrowing my eyes. Same thing happened when Luranno passed. Nukum looked at me somewhat apologetically. Kitsune, instead of leaving the plane, went towards the back, and came back a few seconds later holding Conqets hand.
She looked somewhat dillusional. Her eyes would droop, then spring back open, then start to droop again, in an endless pattern. Kitsune grabbed my hand and gently pulled me up, then led me and Conqet to the door of the plane where she stopped us and let us look out.
"Welcome to Junia..." She said with a smile.
Conqet and I looked around. Our mouths dropped in amazement from of the beauty of Junia. Everywhere we looked there was green. Green trees littered the rolling hills that expanded for miles. Way in the distance, we could make out a small white structure. We all walked over to a carriage and got in. There was a big trunk on the back of it.
"A carriage?" Conqet asked. "What do we need a carriage for?"
"You'll see..." Nukum said with a smile.
I looked out the window the entire way there. Trees, bushes, hills and branches of a river whirred by as we passed them. For a moment, I thought I was dreaming again. This world was much too perfect to be real. When we stopped and got out, I froze. We had arrived outside of a castle, made with large white bricks. It was the tiny white structure I had seen way back where the plane landed. It was nothing even remotely close to tiny now. Once we were all out of the carriage, we headed toward the castle.
As we walked towards it, there was a muffled thump and a sharp bark from somewhere behind us. Everyone paused, but they started walking again almost immediately. I was the exception.
"I know that bark..." I whispered, slowly turning around to look. My face lit up when I saw what it was. Rayne was sitting up in the trunk that rested on the back of the carriage. "Rayne!" I cried. "You're here! How did you get here?" I asked, as though I expected Rayne to answer.
Rayne jumped out of the trunk (causing the lid to fall shut again) and ran towards me. I hugged her happily. Rayne barked constantly, as if responding to my question. I looked at her, confused.
"Oh, never mind. All that matters is that you're here!"
At that very moment, the lid flew open again and a wolf popped up. Everyone looked up at her, even me. All three boys started to back away slowly. Even Kitsune appeared to become scared. I stood and walked over to the wolf.
"Rayne? Who's this?" I asked. Rayne barked happily. "Right...got it..." I looked at the wolf, who stared back at me with beautiful turquoise eyes. "She's gorgeous..." I reached out and stroked the wolf's head. "You need a name." She barked in agreement. "How about...?" I pondered, trying to think of the perfect name for such a beautiful wolf.
"How about Tyranny?" Conqet said.
I turned to see her approaching us. "Tyranny?"
"Yes. Tyranny. You see, when I was younger, I had a dream of a beautiful wolf with the name Tyranny. She didn't look quite like this, but she was beautiful, nonetheless. I was determined to get a dog and name her that, but I never did. So...why don't you name her Tyranny?"
"Tyranny...? Well, alright. That’s a nice name."
"Okay, great. Have your little love fest later. You guys need to come meet the queen," Luranno broke in. "Oh, and...one more thing. Tyranny can't come," he sneered.
"Why not, Luranno? Scared?" I asked teasingly.
"Actually..." Nukum said. "The queen is a vampire..."
"Ah...” I said, embarrassed. "Well, can't she just wait for us? I'd hate to leave her out here all by herself. I would feel terrible. I assume Rayne can come because she's not fully a wolf. But can't Tyranny at least come inside?"
They thought about it, then Kitsune said, "Alright, Larara. She can come inside. But she stays in the waiting room, understood? Rayne can come into the Throne Room, but I don't want to take any chances with a real wolf."
"Got it. Thank you, Kitsune. C’mon, Tyranny!"
As if Tyranny had always known that that was her name, she obediently followed us inside. When we reached the waiting room, she found a comfy chair to rest on while we visited the queen.
"Now," Nukum said. "Being that you have never met her before, you are required to show the queen more respect than you have ever shown anyone before in your entire life. You will address her as Queen Azora. Get it?"
"Got it," Conqet and I said at the same time. Rayne barked.
"Good."
Finally, they reached the white marble throne room. A beautiful woman in a red dress with silver trim was sitting on a golden throne when they entered. She had long, curly brown hair. Her red lips parted into a smile.
"Your majesty, we have brought the two of your request. They've arrived at last..." Kitsune said to her.
"Finally..." the woman whispered. She stood up. She looked at Conqet and me. "Larara, Conqet, I am Queen Azora. Follow me. We have much to talk about."
And with that, she turned and walked out of the room, out a door to her right. Conqet and I exchanged confused glances. Regardless of our confusion boy the short introduction, we followed her into a long, dark hallway. The only thing that could be heard was the tapping of Azora’s shoes and the clicking of Rayne's claws against the tile floors.
"Oh yes, I did happen to notice that you brought with you a wolf...I haven't a problem with it, but the King may feel otherwise. I don’t know what he'll say..." Queen Azora said nervously.
"Oh no, she's not a wolf,” I said, pointing to Rayne. "Well, she is half wolf, but Conqet told me that it won't affect you," I explained.
"Yes, of course, but I wasn't talking about her. I understand that there is another wolf somewhere in the castle. True? Or am I mistaken?"
"Oh...her...yes. I mean, no. I mean yes. Wait...no...! No you are not mistaken. There is another wolf in the castle. I wasn't expecting for them to come with us, but they, uh...stowed away. I couldn't just leave her outside, so Kitsune told me that I could keep her in the waiting room."
"Alright," the Queen said. "That's fine. But she'll need to stay in your room all the time. Okay?"
"Okay. Thank you..!"
After a long while, I broke an uncomfortable silence.
"Um, Queen Azora?" I asked.
"Oh, um, you can just call me Aza, okay?"
"Oh, alright. Aza, you said that she would have to stay in my room. What did you mean by that?"
"You'll be staying with us for awhile, as it is very hard to get that plane to come here often. It makes a lot of stops daily, and it will take quite some time to get it back here." Aza stopped and turned around. Conqet and I had concerned looks on our faces. She smiled, then explained, "Don't worry about your family and friends. We are in another dimension. They don't exist." Our looks worsened when we heard this. "What I mean is, uh...just don't worry about them."
"Well...okay," Conqet said, although I could tell she wasn't completely convinced.
Nukum gave her a tiny nudge, signifying for her to stop talking. Either that, or change the subject. She just decided to stop talking, as did I. We rounded a few corners, walked down a few more hallways and finally, we walked into an actual room.
This room was not nearly as bright as the throne room we were just in. The walls were composed of grey stone, as were the floors. It was almost like cobblestone. The walls were lined with inset bookshelves that had old, tattered books on them that looked almost ancient. Torches were the only thing bringing light into the room, as there were no windows. A small stone pillar rose in the center of the room. On it was an open book.
Aza walked over to the book and flipped through some of the torn and yellowing pages until she smiled. She looked up at all of us and ushered us towards her. We did so, and looked down at the open section. It looked almost like a prophecy.
