Yes the mates have something to do with up for love.

Yes I have something against the introduction of unending global rain because it doesn't fit into the format of the story. If it fits into yours fine. You just can't be introduced or "accidentally" bump into anyones characters.

I was thinking about having Pelops die, and creating the climate change as a last act. could you please explain the mates situation to me?

Sure. A mate is when someones character and one of your characters communicate with eachother and end up falling in love. That is basically all it is. Also, I already have what is going to happen at the ending. And I am not telling!
