When the darkness falls,
lights go on,
doors are locked.
Behind locked doors supper is served,
warm beds await.
life couldn't get any better.
In the darkness-outside,
in the alleys and streets,
the homeless wander.
Hunger gnawing at their insides,
the cold pavements await.
Life couldn't get worse.
When darkness falls,
when eating supper,
when getting into a warm bed.
Remember those outside your locked doors,
and count your blessings.
