The day was sunny as we sat on the back porch, even thought it was barely 7:30. I didn't exactly want to be awake at this time, but my brother said it was time for a "wake n bake" is what he called it. I had thought about this several times. It was like losing your virginity. The first time for something you could learn to love, or learn to enjoy in moderation.
Randy pulled out a bag from his pocket. The wrinkly stuff inside wasn't as green as I had thought it would have been. It was more...brown. The air near me smelled like a green house. The cluster the size of my thumbnail was handed to me. I smelled it up close. It was an overwhelming aroma.
"Mango Haze," Randy said with a crooked grin. I gave it back to Randy. He began to crumble it into little pieces and pack it with cation into the metal piece that reminded me of a funnel. He leveled the substance out in the bowl. He handed the glass piece to me. It was sphere shaped at the bottom but long and a bit thinner towards the top. Randy dropped a few ice cubes in. That didn't really make sense, but apparently it would be smoother that way.
"Light it for me," I said with a bit of hesitation and worry in my voice. He did so. The flame gravitated towards the plant and buried itself in the substance that was now turning black as I inhaled. The taste was awful. Worse than the time I had eaten grass when I was 4. My throat felt hot as I took the bowl out and cleared the chamber. I heard that big hits ran in my family. I was rather proud of myself. I tried to hold the thin grey smoke in my lungs but coughed out a big, dirty cloud. I couldn't believe that was actually inside of my body. I rushed inside to get some water. Randy laughed and patted me on the back.
"Nice hit, little sister, but I think you swallowed some of the smoke. You will be burping it for the next hour." Ridiculous, I was going to be tasting that for the next hour. Ick. I sat down on the couch and I started to feel numb. Then a tingly numb. I kept rubbing my arms because the feeling was beginning to freak me out. Randy just kept chuckling at how I was continuously brushing the tingly feeling off like ants were crawling on me. They might as well have been. I was getting so irritated. Randy suggested we watch a movie to calm me down. I couldn't look at the television screen. I was too preoccupied by the stairs. The banister did not look normal to me. It looked like it was a cardboard cut out. Fake. Everything else I looked at looked plastic, like in a doll house, also like the room was a tighter fit. Surely this was THC fucking with my brain. I was rather freaked out by this because as soon as I began to think about something, I lost it. I had forgot what I was thinking of. Randy asked me a question. I said yes, but that was probably to laconic for whatever it was that he had asked.
I couldn't focus on the movie so we decided to bag that idea. Randy led me upstairs to his room and put on a CD. I was laying on his bed, staring at the wall. The walls seemed smaller. The room seemed tighter. Then I could remember if my eyes were open or closed. I burped. Yuck. I couldn't really here the music at first during the verse. Then the chorus began and a million images were shot through my mind. Somethings relevant, somethings I couldn't tell you where they came from.
"Hey, Trinity? You alright?" Randy said standing in front of me making all of the images disappear. I nodded. "Lets try watching a movie again." I stood up without saying a word and followed my long-haired brother down the stairs that seemed unfamiliar. Shorter than I had remembered. I walked straight to the couch and Randy chose a movie. Labyrinth. Good stoner movie. I suddenly felt hungry. I got up quickly and Randy gave me a weird look, raising his brow, and I zoomed to the pantry and grabbed the box of granola bars. The movie went on and I chowed down on the granola. It was so tasty. I didn't remember granola tasting so good. I fell asleep about an hour into the film and woke up suddenly because I heard my name.
"Trinity? Trinity, wake up, you fell asleep." Oops. I looked at the box of granola bars. Empty. It was a brand new box when I had claimed it in the pantry. The numbness was gone. In its place was a head ache. I looked at the stairs. Normal. No different than when we had moved into this house. I glanced at the clock. 9:30? Only two hours? I was sure it would have been 2pm by now. Time went slower when THC was my friend.
"Good weed, right?" Randy said punching my arm. I nodded with a grin. Good weed.
