The spectrum
Spans in front of me
With its bright
Beautiful colors
It inspires me
Although I’m always at
Its ends
Words are my solace
And my aggressor
My everything
The vivid emotions
Are their byproduct
I’m constantly fighting
For lucidity
Feelings are like
Brushstrokes
Thoughts are like
Poems
I don’t understand
Who I am
Yet I know
Everything about me

As far as I can tell, this is good poem...it sounds really poetic and meaningful and all. The only problem is I have no idea what it means. Then again, maybe that's just me cuase I know I'm not the smartest person in the world. So yea, it's a well written poem, but it isn't the easiest to understand. (which isn''t always a problem...maybe you meant it that way, i don't know)

Meaning. My main complaint is that it's too vague. It's a rather broad (and thus bland) description of the relation between people (artists here, but also viewers) and art. "Art envelops me. Emotions! It's real pretty." We've all read it a thousand times. Why be so vague? Why not talk about a specific piece of art, or a place and time you've created and described, so the reader has some sort of connection to what's going on?
We always need context to understand stories; you can tell us, for example, "I was sad," but it doesn't have any meaning until you explain, "My dog died" or "My heart was broken". The abstract things in the poem need something concrete, some context, to help the reader understand why they're significant. We can't just take that stuff for granted.
I don’t understand
Who I am
Yet I know
Everything about me
Talk about being vague!
Here's an example I like to use of a poet writing about the impact of artwork:
Musee des Beaux Arts

W. H. Auden

About suffering they were never wrong,
The old Masters: how well they understood
Its human position: how it takes place
While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along;
How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting
For the miraculous birth, there always must be
Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating
On a pond at the edge of the wood:
They never forgot
That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course
Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot
Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer's horse
Scratches its innocent behind on a tree.

In Breughel's Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away
Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may
Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry,
But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone
As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green
Water, and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen
Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky,
Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on.

Notice how specific Auden is--when he says things like "they understood/Its [suffering's] human position", he gives examples, images of life to which we can connect his statements. In the second stanza, he doesn't say "People don't care. Life is sad and it goes on." He describes the way "everything turns away/Quite leisurely from the disaster".
Here's a link to the painting he's talking about: The Fall of Icarus.

Diction. The words you use can also make your poem blend in or stand out. For example:
Words are my solace
This is a cliche, to say "____ is my solace." Solace is just overused so much in that context it's lost meaning it once had. And this:
bright
Beautiful colors
As opposed to dull, unattractive colors?

Grammar. I'm not going to go through and nit-pick, but seriously?
With it’s bright
Beautiful colors
It inspires me
Although I’m always at
It’s ends

Happy editing,
Colleen

what else can a spectrum do, dance? of course it spans; now try telling us why your enamored with it.

With its bright
Beautiful colors

um if thats the only reason your attention was focused on the spectrum...never mind, just try to make this deeper. colors are not the only thing a spectrum (a rainbow in this case, i presume) can symbolize.

It inspires me
Although I’m always at
Its ends

always at its end? is that a bad thing? i thought that there was supposed to be a pot of gold or whatever at the end of each rainbow...in any case, you need to explain why you find this to be negative.

Words are my solace
And my aggressor

makes no sense, sorry. up till this point you havent actually made it clear why your torn between two ideas or words.

My everything

your...what everything?

The vivid emotions
Are their byproduct

what?? i always thought poetry was supposed to be first and foremost about emotions. how can they be a byproduct? (if you have a good reason as to why..then yeah please tell me.)

I’m constantly fighting
For lucidity
Feelings are like
Brushstrokes

if you say so. personally, i think that brushstrokes is cliched when compared to inner nuances.

Thoughts are like
Poems

aren't thoughts poems themselves, except in unwritten and disorganized form? how can they be *like* poems?

I don’t understand
Who I am
Yet I know
Everything about me

this paradox means nothing unless you can back it up with evidence from the rest of your poem...and you havent done that.

well, there you go. i wont lie and say this was awesome, but with improvement it could be a nice read.

"i don't understand
Who i am
yet i know
Everything about me"

those lines really stood out to me as relatable and meaningful, however i'd say the rest of it was a bit forgettable.
Is this bass REALLY strong enough?

Wow Jade that was really pretty and very dramatic at the same time!
i loved it and I actually kinda liked it being a little vague, but that's
just my opinion. It really makes you stop and think for a second which
is my favorite thing about this.
