Story

The land Of Gilian has just won what will be called the Fifty Year War. The land is at a breaking point. The world is in poverty and the lords and nobles can't do much about, or just wont. The people are beginning to lose faith in the nobility, and many have been abandoned.

During the war there was an army make up of common people called the Knights of Death. Now under the Command of their old Leader Wiegraf the "Death Corps" have started a rebellion against the nobility. Can you stop their wrong doings and is their more then meets the eye?

At the same time the two sides to nobility seem to be fighting for power. Prince Larg of the Hokuten (White Lion) and Prince Goltana of the Natan (Black Lion) are fighting over the crown. The King is ill and his only son Orin is but two years old. Larg suports the prince as heir, but Goltana suports princess Ovilia (18), cousin to the king.

Rules

1) Only FIVE people can join. I'm sorry, but no exceptions. I learned that many storybooks fail because there are too many people.

2) Two characters per person Tops

3) No god-modding.

4) There is some magic. Don't over due it. Black and white magic only.

5) No killing another's character without permission.

6) You must be on the side of the nobility and follow everyone else. Sorry, but having people on both sides can be a problem.

Name- Morgan Shenai

Gender- Male

Age- 33

Class- Knight of Lilus-Den

Appearance- 6'1, long black hair, short, neat beard. Kindly face, but scary when angry. Wears plate mail.

Personality- Kind hearted, but has seen to much of the horrors of war to be naive or idealistic. Serves Lilus-Den, the goddess of vigilant harmony, and believes that the region needs a ruler strong enough to resist corruption, duress and undue influence; hence he believes that the prince should not inherit without a reliable regent.

Weapon(s)- Hand-and-a-half (ie Bastard) sword, longbow.

Back Story- Brought into the war at age 13, through message-running. Raised in an orphanage of Lilus-Den before being sent of with the army (at his own volition). Entered the ranks as a grunt at the age of 16 and worked his way up to a captain by the age of twenty three. By twenty five he had had enough of the front line and was initiated as a knight of Lilus-Den, ensuring that justice was seen to occupied populations, and helping to put down the rebellions that occurred towards the end of the war.

Name- Jessi "Knightmare"

Gender- Female

Age- 19

Class- Squire of Lilus-Den, mage

Appearance- Dyed crimson dreadlocks, bright blue eyes. Wears leather armour that she paints runes onto with red inks.

Personality- Very harsh to people she does not know, though out of courtesy she will generally refuse to talk to strangers. Utterly loyal to Morgan and Lilus-Den, but rather harsh in her application of the "vigilance" aspect of their faith. Rough around the edges, but enjoys the natural elements, particularly forests.

Weapon(s)- Staff. Refuses to use edged weapons. Wears leather armour

Back Story- Her parents were mystics and when she was 12 the local villagers started blaming her family for the loss of prosperity; a symptom of the larger war. When people became sick, and the cows stopped giving milk, the villagers resorted to burning down Jessi's house while her parents were still inside. She was tortured with knives, and only escaped death because Morgan was travelling through it on the way back from the front line. He dispersed the villagers (violently) and saved Jessi from the burnt out home; dropping her off at an orphanage run by the priests of Lilus-Den. When Jessi turned 18, she sought out Morgan and had him accept her as his squire. She practices the craft of her parents, but is self-taught.

I'll have just the one character for now:

Name- Azeala Yates

Gender- Female

Age- 22

Class- Mage

Appearance- Her hair is shoulder length and blond. Her eyes are hazel with more green than brown and her skin is soft and smooth. Here's a picture reference: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1045/147 ... 19.jpg?v=0

Personality- Azeala doesn't tend to think things through. She tries to be a serious and wise mage but she's young and reckless.

Weapon(s)- A staff which she has just above average skill with and some elemental powers (Earth and air) but her spells are below average and sometimes unpredictable. She barely passed the test to become a mage and is certain that she only did so because she conjured herself a staff and fought her way through most of the tasks. The only spells Azeala gets right every time are levitation (she still has trouble with flying) and conjuring things out of wood or earth.

Back Story- Azeala's mother was a Mage but she died in the fifty year war when Azeala was just a child. Her father was heart-broken and unable to care for his daughter but the academy who had taught her mother offered to take her in and train the powers that were just beginning to show themselves. Azeala tried hard but there always seemed to be something holding her back, something blocking her powers. Azeala won't admit it but she knows this blockage is caused by the fear that she will die just as her mother did, because she isn't strong enough.

Name- Isaon Satha

Gender- Male

Age- 20

Class- Duellist

Appearance- http://jasonengle.deviantart.com/art/Crows-44532323

Personality- He is friendly to most, and always eager to meet people either as friends or just allies. However, he is very temperamental and prone to mood swings - the smallest thing can lead to a challenge, while he might overlook something much more damaging to him.

Weapon(s)- He prefers the rapier for attacking, but also carries a short sword to defend against enemies with heavier weapons. He has attempted to use both at once on occasion, but has never managed to pull it off.

Back Story- His parents were nobles, but he found the life very restricting, and so walked away from it to pursue fame rather than fortune, assuming that he'd be able to maintain the lavish lifestyle he'd led in his family's household. He quickly found that he was wrong, but his pride prevented him from turning back or seeking any kind of help from his family.
He had decided to live forever or die in the attempt. - Yossarian, Catch-22

Personality- hard in the head at times she'll fight with great passion but sometimes she gets too excited and gets hurt.

Knightmare

Morgan was accepting the praise of the village leaders for his works in clearing local vagabonds. They expressed their thanks and offered paltry rewards, more insulting that reverential to Jessi's mind; but Morgan begged off, as such rewards were against the tenets of their faith.

She sat on the back of her horse and wished the proceeding would go quicker. She could understand the work she and Morgan had to do, the need for a strong hand in the unstable rural communites; but what she could *not* understand was having to put up with the people the helped in the process.

One of the village men, more of a boy really, cast her a telling look. She shot him one in return; cold, hard and furious, causing him to turn away.

There was a buzzing sound; one which no-one else seemed to respond to, and suddenly there was a voice whispering in her ear.

"Knightmare?"
Yes she replied silently.
"Are you and Morgan involved in a duty at this time?"
No, we have just finished.
"You are required in Ilian, there have been disturbances there, your contact will be in the local orphanage of our order."
Understood.

Eventually Morgan was able to extricate himself from the thankful peasants; as always he appeared nonchalant, even cheerful.
"How can you stand them?"
"They are not so detestable as you would make out Jessi, they are a humble, charitable people."
"Perhaps were they more charitable there would be no vagabonds to begin with."
"Perhaps. Have you a message for me?"
"How did you know?" Demanded Jessi, infuriated by his knowledge.
"You have a look when you have something to tell me; the arrogance does not sit well on your face.

"I'm sorry master," she bowed slightly in her saddle before relating the message she had received from the Seneschal of their order.

Soon the two had set off for Ilian

Azeala

Sweat dripped down Azeala's forehead as she parried with her staff and then dodged back, away from the three men with their black bandannas and viscous swords. She threw the staff away, its surface chipped and scratched in various places. She clenched her hands into fists and began to concentrate, her feet planted firmly in the ground.

The men hesitated for a moment, very aware of the significance her mage robes held but then they rushed forwards, splitting up to come at her from three sides. Azeala's heart thudded and she could feel the cold current as their blades swished towards her but she didn't let it break her concentration.

Roots began to tear their way out of the ground, rising up to wrap around the men's hands and still their swords with almost a metre between them and her neck.

"Cut the vines," the smallest man ordered. "Cut them now!" But as hard as they tried, they couldn't move their hands at all and the swords stood erect, their points forming a crooked triangle in the air. They tried to kick at Azeala but calmly she levitated into the air, trying to hide her jubilant smile with a mask of serenity.

"You will trouble this village no more," Azeala said calmly. "Because I will not give you the option." She held one palm up and it glowed with a soft, lilac light that diminished as a staff appeared and had faded completely by the time she had landed and dealt a killing blow to the head of each man.

Jared McRemedy:

The Dux of Ilian looked very old for his age as scars went through his face and because of the slight roundness of his belly area. He now sat on his small throne and looked at his messenger.

"Come forth, I have heard that thee has a message of importance to deliver to me?" The dux looked at the hesitant messenger

The messenger cleared his throat... "I have a message of great importance. In your land of Ilian there have been notices of rebel activity. These sons of stray hounds have been seen burning down houses and stealing merchandises. There is also a disturbing rumor that some of Ilians merchants are actually giving them merchandise." The Messenger handed the Dux a list "Here are some people that are or have been helping the foulest of all creatures... the rebels. What does thou grace say of what to do with these scum?"

The Dux looked at the list briefly "You are to execute these infidels in the most foulest and cruelest way as they deserve." The Dux said sternly

"Does thou mean it?" Asked the messenger in fear

"I mean it. They are sentenced to the machine of great torture.*"

*The machine of great torture: This is a machine where The victim is first burned, then shall their genitals be smashed. When these two parts have been done, Their tongues are cut of and fed to animals before their eyes. And then they are beheaded. The heads are then put up on a pole.
