The Young Writers Society Has A Bank Account

Starting today, the Young Writers Society has its own bank account with HSBC, as well as a PO Box that I got earlier this week. Taken together, this does mean that YWS is now a business (though not officially).

The importance of YWS having a bank account cannot be understated. It means that my personal assets will no longer commingle with YWS' assets, which in turn means I can keep better track of the money YWS earns. This is also an important first step toward making YWS a legitimate company; I will only consider YWS a true success when it has offices in the Washington area and I can have an intern who brings me coffee at 9:30 am every weekday.

9:30's too early for me. You'll have to hire someone else.

I'll offer you coffee late at night, though, since you always seem to be up late working on the site. ;)

Does that mean I'm a customer? :P

Seriously though, that's pretty snazzy.

How does YWS earn money?

Through the ads. It's how the hosting services are paid for and monthly prizes are funded. Right now, all the excess revenue from the summer has been used to pay for the free stickers. I'm looking at doing something very similar for the November Birthday Bash.

Does that mean that YWS actually makes money rather than being an expense that you pay out on? That's pretty good if it is!

Hey, I'll come and be your assistant. I live near Washington so I could so totally bring you coffee in the morning. Though, you'd have to pay me quite a lot to make me get up at 9:30.

I have my CV/resume ready. I think my experience speaks for itself.

p.s. One of the ads yesterday was actually useful!

I want to apply to be the janitor and make snappy remarks like the one on Scrubs.

:D

And if someone'll teach me how to operate a coffee maker, I'll do the morning coffee! :P
