The Eyre Affair. Actually all Jasper Fforde books. It is obvious in his books that he loves books so much. They are really surreal and funny and engaging. You will fall in love.
Right now its up in the air between "The Witching Hour" by Anne Rice
or
"A Sweet Far Thing" by Libba Bray.
Both are unique stories though I wouldn't recommend "The Witching Hour" if you're not into incest, or sex, or skinny dipping, or well...sexy stuff.
Never forget who you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.
Haha, good old Anne Rice - I wonder how she writes now that she's all religious? I mean, given that 70% of her other books are basically porn.
I'm reading Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrel by Susanna Clarke and its quite good, if overly English.
And 'The Graveyard Boy' by Neil Gaiman. Anything by Gaiman should be read, in my opinion. He is a god.
Also and this is specifically for Kylan! Watchmen, the graphic novel, is beyond brilliant. It is, I believe, the only graphic novel on the New York Times List of the best 100 books. Although, everyone else should read it too.
