Well, I'm brand new here and a bit of a forum novice (I've been in them, but not extremely actively).
My name is Mallory, I'm just newly 18 and have had an interest in writing since before I could remember.
I have drawers of half-filled notebooks. I'm not particularly proud of that; one of my fondest daydreams is that I'll fill one of them someday...
I like to observe people, and I wouldn't call myself an eavesdropper, but I definitely love other people's conversations.
It provides such good material, y'know?

I'm not sure what guidelines there are for introducing oneself here, but I guess I'll list some things I'm very interested in and see if anyone else here feels the same:
I grew up on the classics. I love Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Allen Poe; I'm also a dedicated fan of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis and lately I've been very much into Dostoevsky and Tolstoy (my family and friends have had to bear with my babble about Crime & Punishment. So should've discovered that one sooner)
I am a Christian. I hope that this becomes apparent from the writing I post, and please don't misunderstand me; it's a sad thing that Christian fiction has so much stigma attached to it, but a lot of it is very poorly written.
I'm nothing special, but I'd like to bridge the gap. I believe it's more than possible to infuse a work with some of one's own belief while still creating characters and situations that are believable (and readable) for others.
Anyone agree?

Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you (and your writing!) and I hope I can offer something interesting from time to time. :)

Mallory-
Welcome!!
Don't worry, I have tons of half-filled notebooks also. They're all splattered all over my floor, such a mess.
Great, someone who also loves the classics. I love Jane Eyre but not fond of Wuthering Heights. Have you seen the masterpiece classic version? And always Jane Austen, too. :D
So all in all...it's great to meet you! And I would love to see some of your work.

Hello Mallory ^^
I'm Gwen, *waves*
I too can relate to you about the notebook thing, I don't think I've ever filled one  They are just so fun to start, crisp new paper and crisp new thoughts...

I have heard of some of those authors, but I don't think I have read too many of their books.

So welcome to yws! I've been here a while, so if you ever need anything just send me a message and I will do my best to help you!

I hope to see you around!

Gweny

Night Mistress- Thanks so much, I appreciate the help and the welcome!

Merry_Haven- Hehe, but at least your notebooks are out in plain view! Mine just sit in those sad drawers and get forgotten...
I have mixed feelings about Wuthering Heights. It's a good read when one wants to feel a bit depressed and mopey, well written and all... but I can understand most objections to it, especially in comparison to Jane Eyre *LOVE that book* I actually haven't seen many renditions of any of the Bronte works, but I'd definitely like to in the future.
Which is your favorite Jane Austen novel?
And yes, it's great to meet you too! I'll be sure to post some of my work just as soon as I can :D

Hey Mallory!

So glad you've joined! I like the older writers coming in here (18+) but love the younger ones too!

I like to observe people, and I wouldn't call myself an eavesdropper, but I definitely love other people's conversations.
It provides such good material, y'know?

I do this too! To such an extent my mum gets cross with me for ignoring her conversation because I'm so engrossed in the conversation happening on the table next to us!

Welcome anyway!

Squee! Dostoyesvsky has recently stolen my heart as well, but with "The Brothers Karamazov." I want to snuggle Alyosha. <3 If "Crime and Punishment" is similarly awesome, I must check that as well. :)

Anyway, see you around!
