And A level is GCE, General Certificate of Education.

I got my IGCSE results, if that counts

It's like the english GCSE, but then an international version.

Nope, I'm starting the two year IB (International Baccalaureate) programme now. I'm in an international school, so we're doing things differently I guess.

Ib is really hard. That's what I heard anyway, from a friend of mine. Much harder than anything else in the UK. They said you have to give up your whole life...

Did subjects that weren't right for me. Didn't do enough work.

I got an A in history with ease...but the rest I really tried for them and it just wasn't working. Maths, Physics, Chemistry, I'm just not a scientist. Gonna have a long hard look at my options this summer!

Yup, pretty much.

And for what? A shiny diploma? No thanks. If it was for a new car, maybe. Or a free college education. But not for a shiny diploma.

The IB is difficult, yea, I know that, but my sister just graduated out of it and got into a really good university thanks to the IB programme. If she can do it, so can I

I'm quite happy doing it, actually, I don't mind it, I'm actually taking an extra subject so I can do all three of the sciences, so I'm making it harder for myself. I'm sure I'll manage somehow

I don't think there's anything wrong with IB if you're up for the work! I don't know if I could have done it myself, I don't do very well under that much pressure. Well, I might do okay but I wouldn't enjoy it at all.

Sean - I know a lot of people have done that, taken science when it's not their thing, maybe because the science A levels have a bit more prestige in some schools... well it does in mine anyway! But my school is a science specialist -_-

I think at GCSE you could get good results with subjects you hate, but at A level you have to like it because there is a level of dedication and outside work.

Maybe you should do English instead =D I loved English Lit AS.

Absolutely right on all fronts! GCSEs were a bit too easy is my opinion, and I was advised that science would be the most useful option at A-level, and it would open up job opppourtunities, look attractive on a CV e.t.c (it didn't seem to matter that much that genuinely, I wasn't very good!)

Oh and Ishould've done English instead indeed, I wish I had done now; thanks for your amazingly spot-on comfort (I need it after getting two Es, I can't get back into my school)

No worries =D my boyfriend didn't get the results he wanted either. A lot of people didn't! You're not alone.

Aww, is there a college or something you can join instead? That's happened to a couple people here. My school is kind of a grammar school so people drop out to go to a community college instead. I think it's just as good, an A level is an A level.

You could just re-sit the year! Take different courses all together.

Yeah all of those are options; leave my school, try and re-apply (I think there are ways, I'm borderline because of the A, what you need in writing is DDD, I think based on points or however it's arranged I might have an equivalent to it), or retake the year. Going to see my teachers on Wednesday so hopefully it'll all be sorted then!

Hmm I wouldn't call GCSE's easy, or maye I'm just not as smart as the rest of you! I thought that they gave you a bit too much work for 9 subjects. But maybe that was just me taking both Art and DT

I've heard the IB system is becoming very popular. It's much more rounded because I think you're required to take a language and maths and english? It does sound very good I just think I'd hate it because I hate languages and maths! My friend's doing it next year though instead of A-levels and she did a kind of introductory thing recently and said she thinks she will enjoy it.
