Fishbowl Head

There's something fishy about this submission...

Hi Clo-

Suggestion: don't post on your own work just to bump it. It's only been two days, had it gone longer that may be understood. If you'd like a critique on something, you can always go to "Will Crit For Food" and post your link in someone's crit shop, or PM anyone in purple, the instructors are always there to help you by reviewing your work.

Now onto the piece...

My thoughts on this piece really all depend on what it is you plan to do with it. If it's for a cartoon, then it's pretty decent. If it's supposed to be for something serious and the girl actually needs to look like a proper human, then it could use a bit of work (shading, line-work, human shape as in muscles and dimples and what not).

A few things to watch and suggestions:

-Have her face show up in the fishbowl like it's stuck on her head. That would be cool. Of course it would have to be all stretched out like her face was in a bowl filled with water, as well.

-watch the legs/crotch area. Something is fishy about the position of the legs and bathing suit there, I think maybe a bit too wide.

-watch the fingers. this, again, is something I'm not sure if you did on purpose or not. If the hands are supposed to be squiggly, then ignore this. If they aren't...then you know ;] It's mainly the left (my left) hand that bothers me.

-watch the skinny neck!

+I loved the fish, the fish is really a good concept and great depiction.

+the water coming out of the bowl was done very well.

+congrats on straight lines on the bathsuit, couldn't do that if I tried for a million years.

Ack! lol, imagine waking up one day like that. It puts me in mind of that children's book about that girl who woke up with antler on her head and had a number of misadventures. A fishbowl is much freakier, though. My favorite part is the little fish in the bowl. It looks so undisturbed, even as the water is splashing out all around.

The only problem I really notice is that her fingers seem oddly distorted, especially on her right hand. Well, her left, my right.

Haha, that's really funny. I'm guessing it's supposed to be found in a cartoon, or a comic? But, even then, I think that this needs a tiny bit more work.

The fingers are like Jell-o. They flop all over the place, which is really awkward, considering we have bones in our fingers. We ain't Harry Potter in number 2, where all the bones are taken out of his arm. That was gross.

The neck is really skinny and out of proportion. Just fatten it up a bit, and you should be good to go.

I agree with what Via says here. The crotch is extremely awkward, and not right. She seems like she's been glued to the paper. And yes, this is a female, so I would just have a hint of breasts there.

i don't really agree with that because the point is to have a fishbowl for a head, not a head in a fishbowl. just thought i would point that out

but i do agree with the crotch being extremely weird though. and the fingers are a little wierd too.
other than that, the picture is great

hahah! I loved it. This reminds me of my family, because, for some reason, I got stuck with a father and a sister who share this weird obsession with fishtanks.

I don't feel the need to be picky about this, because the concept itself made it feel like it was supposed to be a cartoon, and thusly, not taken too seriously. Sure, the neck is really skinny, and the fingers are all weird and squiggly, but the whole idea of a girl with a fishbowl head is kind of funky and whimsical itself, no?

I don't have any deep insights on this, just that I thought that this was going to be some dramatic poem about a girl that looks in the mirror and sees everything she doesn't like about herself.

I was wrong.

But it made me laugh pretty darn hard.

Well...uh...this is definitly a unique picture. Haha. I really like it for some reason! The hands and fingers look a bit strange, though. I absolutely love the fish and the fishbowl! They're perfect! Where the legs part is too round, it's kinda like they're not even seperated. It's very interesting and I can't wait to see more!

My nit-picks:
I understand the person is super skinny but at least make the thighs a bit fleshy and give them a shape.
Colour the water part a bit. See if that works.

You have given a good color combination to his swimming costume. Loved it.
I also liked the lines you made beneath his neck to show the bones. the effect is visible.
