Now why would anyone want to shoot you? I have on occasion considered shooting your brother, though. But I guess that's what the male half of opposite genre twins are like.
Please, sit down before you fall down.

I never want to shoot my twin brother. *shrugs*

Congrats to all the nominees! Ooooh! I think all the winners should have to post an acceptance speech! That would be so much fun!

Meh. I sometimes want to shoot mine. How many people are there on this site who are opposite genre twins?

And I think that's a great idea, having an acceptance speech. It would be interesting to see what people come up with. Sometimes I imagine what it would be like if I got the Oscar for best screenplay. I'd probably faint before I got on stage.
Please, sit down before you fall down.

You're a twin? It's me, and then Snoink and Griffin, right? And then you. That's...four....two of which are twins of each other. Haha.

No worries about fainting here. We'll never know!

Yay :D!

By the way - if any of the other three contestants (quite possibley all three at once) are suddenly killed in a random and gory accident, then it means I've finally given in to the voices.
I wrote the above just for you.

True, but the winners of best story/poem you can't say that about because that winner is just good at what she does...writing.

Who cares if it's a popularity contest? It's just for fun. Besides, the people who were nominated really are very good at what they were nominated for.

lol i'm just bitter because not to be egotistical but I consider myself a very good debator. Brad too for that matter 'sigh' sigh'

well yes that was to be egotistical :)

But yeah it's ok, but like I don't think don't like to shoot are very nice, it's all a bit weird anyway doing it. I don't really see the point what with member of the month and all never mind. But I agree with the writing awards Mattie that is a fair point. But then it could have been a competition which people submitted stuff for that would have been more interesting I think. ne'er mind.

I care. Everyone has an equal chance of getting nominated and winning but the fact that most of the people who were are the ones who seem to be the most popular among the boards is what bugs me.

No, everyone does NOT have an equal chance of being nominated, as those who are nominated are the ones with the most votes - so therefore it's in the hands of YWS members.

The reason why the "popular" people were selected for some awards is because hardly anyone voted. Therefore the majority of people who voted were the "popular" people (as you call them) and so they voted for each other mostly. Perhaps if you want a "fairer" result, more people should vote. But that's not my fault.

And to be honest, I think everyone nominated would deserve their award...have you got any complaints about them, Mattie? If so please voice them.

Yeah, well done! YAY! I knew I wasn't going to get nominated because I'm one of those 'average' writers, I'm none of them so... I'm not upset or angry! It serves me right for not being on alot. :P

All the people who have been nominated because they are all very popular, everyone who was picked I could name them off by heart. Its amazing.. :P

Anyway, well done :D

I have no complaints. It's just that I would have liked a fairer way, as you said, of voting and who was chosen in the future when and if we do this again. I guess I can't do anything about it now so it doesn't matter.

So what's your "more fairer" way? It's all well and good saying that and not suggesting anything.

If I was to try and make it totally fair, it would mean no-one could vote (that creates popularity and hardly anyone votes anyway...), and nobody could be a judge because they would already have predisposed feelings about people. Which would mean appointing judges outside YWS, which would also not work, because they wouldn't know anyone, and wouldn't be able to read all stories/poems/topics/blogs. Which means that there is no real "fair" way of doing it. I did it the best I could and I'm sorry if you don't like it.

Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
