Okay I know this is a bit weird but I just wrote it because I had something in my head all day and it was killing me and I thought...hey why don't I see what others think. I'm not looking to do anything serious with this but if you think it has promise..then tell me so now and I'll continue it. Harsh critiquing is needed because I really want to know how bad it is.

The Angel That Is Listening
By Angel of Death

I wait, emptied of a broken heart
I call out your name but you do not answer
Here you sat, perched upon my windowsill,
Singing the songs of a fallen skylark
From your lips danced words of silk
Creating a heavenly golden melody
I drink up the memory of you like a glass of warm milk
Hoping, praying that you'd come back to me
And here I wait, emptied of a broken heart
I call out your name but you do not answer
Then one night you come to me
Not once apologizing for leaving my soul dead
Instead, you sit upon my windowsill
Singing the words you used to speak
At once I stopped believing you were real
Until you took my heart and gave me your ears
Now I know that you're the angel that is listening
Your soul a hallow gold bleeding silver splendors from your crimson lips
I kiss your wings and hope you're mine to stay upon the rooftop
of my dreams. And here you are, the angel that is listening.

Intro-Orlando
0.1 For my Girl Sally

Cheeks the portrait of dawn, revealing smiles that shine. She's laughing, her laugh so free and loud. I want to join in the sillyness but I can feel eyes boring through my suit-jacket. A crowd is forming in the middle of Times Square. Everyone from garbage men clad in orange suits to drags in fishnet stockings is watching, as if they're not apart of this crazy zoo people call New York. In her sunday's best, her hair raven scarves of beauty falling sloppily to her chest, she's lying on the gum infested pavement, laughing like a clown.
"Come on Sally," I whisper, reaching out my hand.
Instead of obeying, she pulls me down with her and starts laughing even harder. She thinks its hysterical, having horrified eyes glare intensely down at her, wondering if she needs some help. Clouds of red veil my eyes, making me sweat even harder. I was supposed to be flying, not here, frollicking in fields of chaos. Sirens filled the air, making my ears twitch. They were coming, and they were almost here. Those obsidian angels in white suits with words tattooed on their chest, were ready to take my Angel. I waited, laying my head against the cement, hoping to fall into oblivion.
"Only for you Sally, I'll do this," I sighed, burying my face in her dark mane.

Sally
0.2 Love at First Hell

There he stands, flipping aimlessly through one of my books. I watch him curiously, hoping that he doesn't catch my golden brown eye spying through the shelves. He smirks at some words and thinks about others. After minutes of exasperated sighs and humorless laughs, he flips the book shut and places it back on the shelf. Angered by his reaction to my words, I flush an apple red and fight back a few tears. Still unaware of my presence, he moves blindly to another isle and starts picking up another book. The dust rising from the literary stair catches my nose and smacks it until a sound breaks free from my lips. As fast as lightning, he turns, and unfortuneatly looks in my direction. Scared, I turn and quickly exit the isle, hoping that my legs could carry me fast enough. A few confused eyes fall on me, and then suddenly recognition flitts across their faces. Before words of admiration can slip from their pretty lips, I turn another corner and smack hard into something.
Books fly everywhere, landing both on my head and atop the white linoleum floor. A foot jabs me in the side of my face, sending a painful shrill into the air. The eyes that were once filled with admiration were now lined with both worry and shock.
"I am so sor..." It was him. Somehow the line between heaven and hell collided, putting me right smack in the center of its spinless core. Fate was playing monkey in the middle with my emotions. At first I wanted to cry because the pain boiling on my head was excruciating. Then I wanted to scream because the man who I swore to stay away from became my daily obsession. I knew everywhere he went each day, from the small coffee shop on Lennox to the little flower shop on Main. He painted every thought that I ever had. If I wasn't such a freak, maybe, just maybe, he'd actually talk to me-instead of pity me. I've seen him here many times. I first saw him three weeks ago in the Young Adult section perusing through my first book And Let Them Die. That was one of the most powerful books that I've ever written and he laughed at it. But there was something about the blue in his green eyes that made me wonder. He was different from all the rest, even if I hadn't kissed him yet. Under that golden mop of hair, lye something extraordinary. I figured out that when he starred in my dreams at night. From his back, wings would spread and...
My thoughts were broken by a familiar sigh. I looked up to find the angel (his nickname for I did not know his name) staring at me. His eyes were incredulous and his face was dipped in chagrin. On those smooth red lips I could see a snarl bubbling over but he maintained it. As if it were a slideshow, his face birthed a beautiful smile which made me blush. Footsteps pounded around us, forming a circle of eyes. He reached out his hand and with his eyes he ordered me to take it. Like an obedient sparrow, I let my slender pale hand meet his. My orange nail polish comlimented his freshly pressed blue collared shirt making me smile. I was a geek for complimentery colors.
"Are you alright, Miss Hall?" he asked, staring intently into my eyes.
I was speechless. Hearing my name come from his mouth, was like hearing a symphony of angels sing a mellow harmony. Unable to talk, I simply nodded my head and looked away. Workers were picking up books, their red tags screaming the name Border's at me in white letters. Slowly, the angel let go of my hand and stepped back. His cheeks were turning a light shade of red but he hid it with that brilliant smile again. I looked down at my hand, vowing never to wash it again. Besides, it wasn't everyday a girl got to touch a man who was carved by the perfection that could never be sold in stores. Nervously I stepped to the side, my black heals touching something small and hard. I looked down to find a book with a black cover which was graced with eyes the shape of hearts breathing fire. Love at First Hell by Sally Marie Hall it read, glittering in silver. Curiously, I bent over and picked the book up, wondering what a man like this could be doing reading one of my books. He easily scoffed at them, shunned their brilliance before he even read a word. With fury in his eyes, the angel snatched the book from my hand and added it to the neatly stacked pile in his left arm. And then he was off, escaping the clutches of my unspoken words.

0.3 For They Do Not Know Of Love

Sleep depressed my eyes but I did not let it take me. Fire licked at the logs resting neatly in the fireplace. As I read each word of the wretched book, embers spat words of orange, singing a tune to my ears.
"And let them die for they do not know of love. All they do is write about it and act upon it...but never do they feel it," Ana snaps, turning away.
She thrust the worn copy of Romeo and Juliet to the floor and walked swiftly down the road. Lust boiling under his skin, Wes runs after Ana, and turns her around. Eagerness and confusion swims in Ana's eyes as she waits for Wes's lips to enclose hers. Pages flutter in the wind, rising with the sunset. Against Ana's tear-stained cheeks he whispers,
"And let them die, for if they do, they can reinvent love,"

There were two pages left in this infuriating book but I could not go on. These were the only words that connected me to the real person inside that body that Sally Marie Hall claimed as hers. As steam shouted out from the teapot, anger became sweat on my forehead. All my life I have waited to be with her but she has been ripped apart by time and imprisonment. The colorful walls of my livingroom don't seem so rainbow-inspired now that her feet can't touch the Earth of our home. Today, I almost gave myself up to the person wrapping Eve inside like a candy bar. The look in her golden brown eyes almost made me want to covet her once more and...
"Daddy?" Maddy called, running down the hallway.
It was always strange being in this body and not remembering his memories. When we fell from heaven, we were promised lives decorated with leisure. Now I know that the devil only lies through his pointed teeth. Maddy jumped up on my lap, tears streaming down her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked, wiping the water from her cheeks.
Her short brown hair curled at her ears, illuminating her electric green eyes. For a human girl she was beautiful. Sometimes, when I look at her, I see Orlando...wait I see me. Maybe she has a little bit of her mother igniting in her little soul...I don't know. Placing the book down so that the spine would hold the page, I held Maddy to my chest and rocked her back and forth.
"Monsters are singing to me," she whispered, fear burning in her eyes.
At first I thought it was a nightmare coming from up under her bed but then I realized it was something worse. And then like dead leaves on a winter day, she was gone, slipping into death's spring. I felt the life leave from her body and there was nothing that I could do about it. Everything was out of my hands. A laugh so evil and fowl filled the room, attuned with the teapot shooting canons of steam into the air. Demons were here, casting their spells on all the good that was resurrected.
"And let them die, for if they do, they can reinvent love,"
Those words bled against my skull, causing relief to spread through my body. The message was loud and clear. Eve and I had to die to save the entire world from falling into the clutches of evil. She was writing messages in her books so that I would read them. Kissing the limp body in my arms, I made the sign of the cross, and then lyed it gently on the floor.
"I'm going to save you Maddy," I whispered, running out the door.

0.4 Perched upon my windowsill

I cried that night, losing myself in boxes of Twinkies. In their golden sweetness, I spilled out all my secrets from my hidden cookie jar. Dead was the woman who used to be inside of me. I tried keeping her with me but she just couldn't hold on. She said that she was an Angel, the mirror image of Eve. Her and her beloved Adam fell from the heavens because they wanted to be foolish mortals. In her eyes I could see the markings of the devil that haunted her and I could feel her ancient sorrow. So much had she wanted to be with her immortal beloved, flying high into the pearly white gates once more. Instead, in my body she sat, waiting for her soul to die.
Somewhere along the line I grew feelings for Adam, like a plant with an undying water supply. He smiled my Orlando's beautiful smile making me wonder if there was still hope. When he shunned me, I thought that maybe it was too late, like Eve he had fallen into oblivion. But then those subtle looks in his eyes, those unfathomable expressions made me keep believing. I'd call his name in my sleep, only to find that I'd have to keep on waiting. Just then, inspiration flew across my soul. Before Eve took my body, I was a poet. I wrote words like a musical genius blind to her notes. It just came to me naturally and it flowed perfectly. Wiping the tears from my eyes, I picked up a tablet I had thrown on the floor earlier and opened it up to an empty page. A pencil, as always was wedged behind my ear. Taking the magical wand, I moved it across the paper, making my words come to life. Then, just as I was about to finish, something knocked at my window. I looked up to find a man with wings and a chest bathed in ivory light. He was beautiful. He was Orlando and he was Adam, somehow meshed into one.
Words came more fluidly now, so I kept writing. All the while, he sat waiting on my windowsill, letting my dreams break free. I wrote to the end of the page and then looked up, smiling.
"And there you are, the Angel that is listening," I whispered.

to join in the sillyness

Silliness.

on their chest, were ready to take my Angel.

No comma there.

0.2 Love at First Hell

I don't really like/get this title. "Hell at First Sight" would sound better.

spinless core

spineless?

lye something extraordinary

Ah, lye! That's a caustic liquid. You mean "lie" :D

Ages: At the beginning of the story, I thought these people were younger. I'm not sure why, what triggered it, but it's what I thought. Then I find she's published a book. I think you need to clarify at what age these characters are.

Setting: Because your writing is surreal, it's hard to get a grip on the setting. I thought they were in a school library at the one part. You have a lot of good description, but you need to fix some of that description on the setting too.

This is written well, and I love a love story, but like I said before the writing is surreal and therefore it's hard to follow everything. Especially in a love story that changes setting so often.
How am I not myself?

Thanks for critiquing this clograbby. I know this is a little hard to follow but it'll be fixed up. This just started out as jumbled ideas but after rereading it it is really surreal and weird. So yeah...thanks...when I get some extra time I'll fix it.

I absolutely loved this. There are few flaws, such as spelling errors here and there, but I fully enjoyed this story.

The poem was beautiful as well.

Ahh, I don't think that Adam and Eve are in fact angels . . I'm not sure weren't they the first humans who invented sin? Shouldn't they have gone to Hell?

Don't mind my musings; for they are just mindless ramblings. ^^

I noticed that you started the story in present tense, then shifted the rest to past tense.

Light_Devil: You actually loved this? Really? Thanks! Well yeah the Angels names just happen to be Adam and Eve, yeah and I know that Adam and Eve were the first two people to sin but um...do you think I should change to names?

Kyte: The intro is in present tense but the rest of it is in the past. I'll mark it so no one else gets confused.

Thanks everyone for reading this, hopefully its not as bad as I think it is. Please harsh critiques are needed and welcomed.
Thanks again,
Angel :D :D :D

If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more.
