Anyhow, I'm surprised that about half of all people have never learned sentence diagramming. It was basically all we did in fifth grade, and I hated it. They've gone through four teachers since I was in fifth grade, but the school I went to still teaches sentence diagramming very extensively in fifth grade.
Then you never hear about it ever again.
Maybe it's not taught that much in public schools? I went to a Catholic school back then, and Catholic schools pay a heavy emphasis to reading & English, while public schools put a heavier emphasis on math & science (partly for testing purposes, and partly because public schools can afford better materials).
