Maradomin's movements might have been restricted, but the old dragon was still free to go, no one yet suspecting that the two might somehow be in league. The apparent stupidity of some of these people worried Vanis, although they did have their war to concern themselves.
He walked some distance past the guards, waiting until he was out of earshot before seeming to address the air about him, "How long do you think you will last, Maradomin, before they realise you've left?"
"I need to follow Ciru and Ianeil. If I can leave, the fools deserve to have it happen to them."
"I wouldn't want to arouse Ariadne's anger any further if I were you. Perhaps I should go in your stead, show that I mean to uphold our side of the partnership. Play the political game for the time being, my friend. What is it you need done, for now?" The eyes behind Vanis' helmet flashed for a moment, warning the shadow mage, "But don't for a second think that this offer makes me your lapdog."

"Vanis I would never be stupid enough to trust you to that extent." He smiled. He turned serious again "The thing is this, I need Hanik dead, and if there is a chance that I can weaken him or even kill him there is nothing that I will let stand in my way." He continued "My issues with Hanik are not only political but also very personal. That bastard killed my brother with half of my tribe. I have a contract with this sword, it goes so that it will help me to kill Hanik."
Vanis smirked "Do you think that you could kill Hanik?"
"No. But I think that the sword can."
Vanis nodded. He also sighed "But do you not thing that there is something strange about this? Why would Cliares just tell Ciru this? It doesn't add up."
"I know, could it be a trap?"
Vanis shrugged "Could be."
"What say we do this, you go, if anything happens turn around and I will come back with you? Deal?"
Vanis looked at maradomins stretched hand, he grabbed it and shook "Deal." And with that Vanis was off.

The wind in your face really felt good. Except when a certain somebody whose name starts with a C and ends with a iru keeps yelling at you while you harmlessly do a few stunts to get the feeling back in your legs. Hmph.
"You know, you're just like a over-protective nanny. You have been ever since I came here. 'You need armor' 'You're crazy' 'You're going to kill yourself doing those stunts'. Seriously you need a life. Or just someone to distract you like Ari and Ian."
Reva chuckled to herself as she did yet another hair-raising stunt just to spite him. Unfortunately, her laugh was muffled from the scarf around her head. So Ciru didn't hear that part. Which made what Reva said sound like advise. And not a joke, like it was supposed to be.
"Really? You of all people. You're the one whose jumping off her dragon when we're a mile of the ground. You're the one who has fought well-trained assassins without any armor!-"
Reva interrupted, "And I'm still here aren't I?"
"That's not the point! You're just an idiot for going to this battle without armor. If you die, it's you're fault."
"Who else's would it be?" She rolled her eyes. He could be quite nit-witty at times.
He shushed her as he turned to the front. Reva, stunned at his response, looked to see what was wrong.
Their destination came closer with an alarming speed.
Reva, for the first time, was actually scared.
Good thing the scarf hid most of her face.

***CJ and I have decided to forsake this one. It's gotten to be too tedious to ask people to keep posting. If you want to take the story in a new direction, feel free to do so. But she and I are out.***

He it had been a few hours since Vanis left. Maradomin was sitting on the courtyard, when Vanis returned.
"Trap?"
Yes
Maradomin ran to the stables and fetched his dagon. They lifted into the air as the others ran to the courtyard just to see that Maradomin was already flying away.
