chapter 2
Thousands of miles away, in a secret military base almost as well hidden as Area 51, a small man walked into a big conference room. The room was almost totally empty. There was only one other man in the room though he was much to busy chewing out some imbecile to notice the man enter.
"No, no ,no, no! This simply will not do! How could anyone possibly be as thick-headed as you! How you made it to where you are today I'll never know!...........No you listen to me. I will put my boot so far up your ass, you will gag on my shoelaces! I hope you're pleased with yourself you worthless moron!" He hung up abruptly. "I made it perfectly clear that I did not want tomatoes on my sub. The little runt ruined my lunch." He mumbled to himself. "Paxley! What are you doing here?" He shouted, clearly startled as he noticed the other man for the first time.
"Captain Rimmle, I've got news..............big news. We've just received word of another transition." He reported solemnly. This got the superior's attention.
"Oh? well I suppose that maybe you could give me a little more information on the matter!" The little man nodded vigorously and began rifling through a stack of paper that he carried.
"Louis Nightshine, Male, 13 years old, Delville, Pennsylvania. I have more information here if you want to take a look later" He said as he put a manila envelope on the large table.
"Power levels?" He inquired. A wide grin spread across Paxley's face.
"You're going to love this Captain! Look at this. It's incredible! This is one that we can't afford to lose. I haven't ever seen anything like this before." He said as he hurriedly shoved a piece of paper toward the Captain. He looked at it and thought for what seemed to Paxley an eternity. He was getting anxious and wanted to know what Captain Rimmle was thinking. But he knew better than to interrupt the other man while he was clearly busy. Captain Rimle was a very big man and knew how to throw his weight around. Some men had found that out the hard way. Finally the Captain spoke.
" Well I have. Indeed he could be very useful. Bring him here A.S.A.P." Paxley had been hoping he would say that.
"Yes Sir. I'm on it."

I could hear nothing. I could see nothing. I was totally shut out. I welcomed the dark, dreamless slumber. It was calm and comforting. Gradually, I began to see light, and color. I lifted my head with great effort.
I was in a small, colorful room. It almost reminded me of the rooms in pediatrician's hospital. I half expected to see pictures of Winnie-the-Poo on the walls. Beside the bright colors and the childish atmosphere, the room was very similar to a regular hospital room except that it had a sink and a toilet in it. I sat up with a jolt. I had been so calm this whole time, but now that I was thinking more clearly I realized that I had no idea of how I actually got here. And then, as quick as lightning, the memories of the events that took place at my school hit me like a truck. I gasped and fell back onto my bed and I started to panic. I needed to get out of here. I slowly remembered being dragged away right before I blacked out. I ripped out a strange tube from my forearm. It didn't hurt that much, sort of like removing a band-aid from your skin. I jumped from my bed and realized that I had made a big mistake. I had barely taken 3 steps when an explosion of pain hit my head. I fell to my knees. It felt like somebody was beating down on my temples with a hammer. The pain was unbearable. I cried out in pain and tried to lay as still a possible.
I layed there for a while until the pain subsided to a dull pressure on my skull that I could cope with. I got up very slowly rubbing my head. Then I looked down and saw that I wasn't wearing my own clothes. I was wearing one of those gown things that I had always seen hospital patients wearing. I looked around the room and found my clothes sitting on a counter, folded and washed. I wondered who brought me here as I got dressed. I ran to the door and found that it was locked. It had no windows and there weren't any others in the room either. I pulled desperately at the door. The door didn't budge dispite my efforts. I hit the door as hard as I could and walked back to the bed aggitated and anxious. It was hopeless to try to get out like that. I needed a plan.
After about 20 minutes I had concocted a very risky and dangerous plan of escape. It was also very simple. I had no information on the place I was being held and who was keeping me here. I had a piece of tape in my pocket that was stuck to a piece of paper. I removed it and was careful not to remove any of the paper with it. After I finally got it off, I folded it inside out so that all the sticky sides facing outward. Next, I needed a very small piece of my hospital gown. This part was hard. I had to guess the right size of the piece or the whole plan would come crashing down. That was something I couldn't afford. The material was very tough and I had to work fast because I had to be ready when somebody came in. After a few minutes of fiddling with the gown, I had a small piece of fabric. I hoped it would be enough.
My plan was this, I would wait until somebody came in to give me some food. I didn't know much about them but I did know one thing, whoever they were, they had taken good care of me. If they had gone through so much trouble to make me feel comfortable, then eventually they would have to send somebody in to feed me. So when they came in, I would take the food acting calm and docile. I would wait for the person to walk away and when they reached the door I would follow them to the door and as they shut it, I would place my hand on the part where the lock was and hopefully if it was a deadbolt, then I would hopefully keep the door from being locked and hope the person didn't notice. Now the risky part, I would wait a few minutes and then try to creep out of the room assuming that they didn't have guards posted right outisde. I heard some noises outside of my room and prepared myself for the worst.
I was right, they did send somebody with food. A boy came in wearing a strange hooded cloak. His hood was up over his face so I couldn't see what he looked like. He has carrying a chair in one hand and in the other, a small paper tray with a bologna sandwich, a small drink in a styrofoam cup, and a little muffin. It looked blueberry, my favorite. Then the other boy spoke.
"Hello Louis. You must be hungry. After all, that was some fit you had at that school of yours. Man, you were out for like five days. I guess your body just couldn't take it. Anyway lookie here. I've got a blueberry muffin, I hear you like 'em." he said dangling the muffin in front of my face. I noticed something when he was talking. He was probably no older than me, maybe 14 at the most. I took the tray carefully as I realized for the first time how hungry I actually was. I began munching on the sandwich. It was really good but I was too curious about this whole situation so after my first mouthful I began to ask questions.
"How do you know my name? And how do you know I like blueberry muffins?" I asked. I decided to play it cool and tried to sound casual but apparently I didn't do a very good job of keeping the curiosity out of my voice. He looked up a little so that I could see the little smirk that touched his lips.
"I guess I can let you in on a few things." he said after a few moments. "I know alot about you. In fact, I know more than you do at this point. The main thing on your mind is probably how you got in this room, well I don't think I can tell you that right now but there is plenty of stuff that I can. By the way, my name is Ilori." He held out his hand and I shook it cautously. " yeah thats right, no need to be afraid of me, i'm here to help you. You can trust me. Though I suppose I should probably tell you a little more about myself. I mean after all I do practically know everything about you, so it's only fair." He pulled down his hood so that I could see his face. What I saw stunned me. My heart leaped up into my throat. My eyes were probably the size of baseballs. I looked at him. I saw familiar long brown hair, dark eyes and a narrow nose. He looked back at me with a knowing stare, he knew what my reaction would be. I was in shock because the thing that was sitting on top of his shoulders wasn't his face.
It was mine.
