I don't think it's Barbie that gives girls the messages we need to be thin. I think it's more of the people who are in the eye of the media and are real. How many over weight celebrities are there? I can't think of any and then again how many celebrities are there who aren't stunningly gorgeous? It's not Barbie - it's celebrities who promote being excessively thin (and let's not forget the bitches who want to make your life a living hell in secondary school )

uhhhhh... my sister played with barbies..... all i did was "accedentally" rip of their heads when i was little. 8-[ :-$ ................ i am pretty sure that there was this weird but true story when this guys girlfreind died and they were about to get married, and he eventually beleived that his gf's spirit inhabited a barbie doll and so he married the doll........ (im pretty sure thats along the lines of it)............. \:D/

Hello? If you are thin, consider yourself extremely lucky- there are girls out there who would literally kill to have your body- they see you as perfect. Clothing companies who make clothes to fit the perfect 10 make me sick- don't they realsie how down it maked girls who don't fit into their "XL" which is, like, a 14 (euro:42, us:3- i think). that aint big.

I hate people who complain about being skinny. It annoys me to hell...

I am not complaining, dont get me wrong. See, where I live, about seventy percent of girls have the perfect body, so it is almost like a standard. It is sickening....... My friends honest to god get mad at me for being thin..... I dont try, I just have a remarkable metabolism... I think that the media is setting false standards for teenagers, especially girls, and they are contributing to the growing rate of depression in teenage girls..

Guess what. I dont complain. If it sounded that way, I am sorry, but I really dont complain. I love it and never complain and try to never rub it in others faces. I know I am not perfect and I am thankful for what I do have...

They're just toys. the real problem is that all media portrays the need to be thinner than is healthy, yet society that promotes unhealthy living that makes it very difficult to maintain a healthy body-weight.

Tan underwear? LOL I played with Barbie too. I had the dream house, the corvett, the horse ranch, the jeep, the camper, the vet center, the shopping center...anything you can think of I had. I really like barbies but I doubt Barbie gives idea to 7-10 years old that they have to be skinny. They're not thinking about that kind of stuff they're just having fun.
