Dear Dairy,
My life is like a black abyss. It is so lonely and forbidding inside it. Okay so I am sure you hear about all of those Emo and Goths and whatever…Well compared to me they are but fakes. Lately I have been feeling so unwanted, If it wasn’t for Phury and Derek, I don’t know what I would have done. I don’t know what I am going to do now. Dairy, I don’t want to be one of those kids that go off and commit suicide…No I refuse to be one of those sorry souls. I refuse to sink so low… and I refuse to make Derek and Phury gather their broken lives alone, as well as face all of those people alone.
Ebony put down her journal, unable to write anymore. She felt the warm tears leak from her eyes and slowly trail down her smooth pale cheeks. The dawn light snuck threw the small slits in the dark curtains hanging from her grand windows. The small amount of light that did manage to sneak in was just enough to highlight the small scars on the inside of her wrist, almost invisible now. She looked at them, ‘Wow these are so old they are like an old dream now, a far away past or alter reality.’
Ebony carefully arose from her four poster bed, drawing back the heavy blood red curtains surrounding her large bed, making sure to catch the black fish net that hung over the red curtains. They had been her 17th birthday present from Phury. Derek had given her a bouquet of black and blue roses, her favorites. She walked to her closet gently trailing her fingertips against the row of clothes. She pulled out a beautiful black dress, with an antique quality to it, a deep purple corset rested on the outside of it. Her purple leggings, she pulled out of her drawer, and then grabbed her high heeled black boots from by her bedroom door.
Caring it all to the bathroom, she slowly thought about what she hadn’t written in her Diary, for she her self wasn’t sure she whether or not she believed it. Her unwritten words echoed threw her head, ‘MY WORLD AS I KNOW IT WILL SOON BE CHANGINNG’. She shivered as she though about it. Was this true or just paranoia? She closed and locked the bathroom door. She began to peel off the nightclothes she had slept in. She turned on the water, letting it warm up for a minute. Slowly she stepped into the scorching water, letting it pound into her skin. She put a small amount of shampoo in her hand, and began to lather it into her long hair, working from the tips upwards. She rinsed it out, and repeated with conditioner. Finally she turned of the water and stepped out of the shower, carefully drying her skin, then wrapping another towel in her hair. She slipped on her undergarments, followed by the dress. She then towel dried her hair, and began to comb it out. Finally her straight raven black hair gleamed under the lights of the bathroom. She stared into the mirror, and began to apply her make up. She carefully and expertly put on the black eyeliner and black lipstick. She then proceeded to put on her leggings and shoes.
Once done she left the bathroom and headed back to her room. She grabbed her full-length velvet purple cloak from the rack by her door. She carefully swung it into her shoulders, as it spread out behind her with this one graceful movement mastered from years of doing it.
She started down the stairs once again cursing the fact she lived in a large 4 story mansion, and had her bedroom on the 3rd floor. Though it was an extremely large room that had two grand windows that looked out to the vast acres surrounding her prison, a walk-in closet, and a large balcony just for her with large beautiful twin doors that opened out to it. She had always loved the fact her home wasn’t just beautiful, but was of an antique quality. It has been her home since…Forever. But staying at such a magnificent place with a family like hers, she felt as though this dream mansion of hers, was slowly turning into something she would hate.
She walked straight past the dining room were her parent and her sister, and twin brother sat. ‘The perfect little children’ Ebony though angrily. Though Stephen was her twin they had nothing in common. He was an almighty jock, while she was a social outcast. Oh well, she liked it that way. Neither her parents nor her siblings looked up as she passed. She smiled to her self, they were still ignoring her. She pushed open the large old-fashioned doors and ran down the path that lead from her house to the road; before she saw them she felt them. Her two best friends in the world, Phury and Phury’s boy friend Derek.
Wordlessly is the half dark outside world she rotated her hands around a small part of the air, soon the air between her twirling hands began to shine, ‘Mage Light’. Ebony as well as her two friends where the only three mages in their small town of Ely, Minnesota. There had been four, but that was before Ebony’s grandmother pasted away.
Phury walked up to her and gave her a warm hug. Wearing a bright red tee shirt and a pair of jeans with imprint of flames climbing her legs, she lived up to her name. She had her blazing red hair was pulled up into a ponytail that stood up on the semi-top of her hair. Her woolen black cloak, the color of coal, hung around her small shoulders.
Derek stood next to her protectively. He too engulfed Ebony into a warm caring hug. Derek was the closest thing to a brother she had. He wore his usual attire, a white tee shirt, a pair of tight, chained, black pants, and his light blue cloak (supposedly it came from the blue hair of a unicorn, woven together by a troll?) None of them believed a troll did it, but maybe an elf. However they did realize it came from the mane and tail of a unicorn or two, died blue.
Together the three walked down the road small mage light bounced ahead of them, showing them a bit more of the ground then if it was completely dark. Phury slowly turned to Ebony, “Toni Jameson asked me if you would go out with him again,” She stated a hint of laughter in her voice, “He said he wanted some one, you, to go with him to the Halloween Dance. I told him no, that you weren’t interested.”
Ebony smiled and nodded, “Stephen was saying the same thing last night at dinner. Toni asked him to ask me too. Stephen wouldn’t let it rest till I threatened to carve his eyes out from his head instead of doing a pumpkin this Halloween. My mother yelled at me for that remark though.”
Derek shook his head. He began to laugh; “Toni really wants to go with you…” he broke off laughing hysterically.
Ebony met Phury’s bright blue eyes, and then glared into Derek’s own emerald green eyes. He stared back with intensity, shoving back his soft black hair as it fell into his face. “He asked you to ask me too!” Ebony accused, laughter under her fierce tone.
Derek smiled brightly, “Yep, and being a brotherly example I told him I would talk to you. I also expect enough out of you to say yes. You love Halloween as much as Toni. You two would get along great. So what do you say, M’lady?” He asked with a mocking bow.
Ebony ran the offer threw her mind, slowly and carefully she answered, “Only if you and Phury never leave us alone together.” She finally said.
Derek’s face broke into a huge grin, while Phury’s showed horror, “Then it is a double date. I will tell him in history today. He is going to be so excited!”
Phury shook her head, she quickly took a glance at her watch, “Oh, we aren’t going to make it.” She glanced at Ebony, “Can we please fly?” She pleaded.
Ebony sighed and nodded. She felt her midnight black wings begin to take shape, one of the cooler powers of being a mage. She waited while Phury shaped her black, red, orange, and yellow feathers for her wings. Derek did his as quickly as Ebony. His sapphire tipped black wings shone brilliantly. They took of into the sky with a single jump and downward stroke of their wings, Ebony lead them threw the air.

Demetri looked up as three large black birds flew overhead. He watched them in amazement, they were bigger then he had ever seen. He walked on, though he kept his gaze on these magnificent birds. He watched them curiosity as they landed in the forest next to the large building the humans called a school. The place of torture he was to be attending. A vampire of his age attending a school with humans. Of course he had attended it a few hundred years ago when he could still relate to the humans, but he was around 304 now and hasn’t attended school for 254 years.
Demetri took a calming deep breathe. He had to do this; he promised his adaptive father that he wouldn’t just stay around at the house but actual get out. Vampires usually try to avoid sunlight because of the dazzling effect it had on there skin. A frown crossed his face as he thought about a small problem he seemed to have over looked when he agreed to this. He had the unnatural beauty that is given to all vampires. He sighed to him self realizing the girls would be drooling over him.
He reached the doors to see a boy and two girls walking into the school. These three wore almost all black, and the air of someone who everyone else would avoid. He smiled to himself, how much these children reminded him of the human’s idea of vampires.
He walked into the large front office of the new school, and headed to the secretary’s desk. The secretary smiled up at him, dazzled by him, “an I help you, dearest?” She asked him, with a small smile.
Demetri nodded, “Yes, my father called last week letting you know I would be starting school today. My name is Demetri Romeovan.”
The secretary nodded, “Yes, I remember, here are your papers.” She said as she handed him a small stack of paper, “Can I have you fill them out?” she asked in a dreamy voice.
Demetri nodded as he took the papers and sat down. He quickly read threw the multiple papers, signing his name and writing down all of the information it asked for. He glanced over it once more, making sure that he didn’t miss anything. He gently stood and handed his papers to the secretary.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Romeovan. Here is your schedule.” She handed him his schedule and another piece of paper, “Can I have you get all of your teachers to sign this?”
“Yes Ma’am,” Demetri replied in his naturally soft, quiet voice.
The secretary nodded happily, “Okay and then bring it back at the end of the day. I am here in till 4:15 and school releases at 3:00 so you should be more then capable to drop it off.”
Demetri nodded, “Thank you so much.” He graciously thanked the secretary for her help. He walked out of the office and down the hall to, according to his schedule, Room 15, Homeroom with Mrs. Jacobson. He walked down the hall and turned left reading the numbers at the top of each door, student hurried past him but it was only the girls who stared.
When he finally reached Room 15, he almost shouted with excitement, but was able to walk in straight faced. He headed to teacher, when an intoxicating smell reached him. The sweetest blood he has ever smelled. He cleared his thoughts, and continued to walk onward to the teacher. Though he did manage to find the source of the smell. One of the gothic girls from earlier, he calmed himself as he handed Mrs. Johnson his new student information. He noticed almost immediately that all of the girls’ eyes in the classroom followed his every movement, which was except for two pairs.
The two gothic girls neither watched him, nor acted like they had even seen him. Their gazes were on the gothic guy talking to them.
Mr. Johnson handed back the little red slip of paper each teacher had to sign for some unknown reason. “Demetri, take a seat anywhere please.”
Demetri walked to the empty seat that stood as far away from the gothic girl. Quite quickly a girl came to stand next to him, “Hi, My name is Angel. Are you new here?” she asked him, nervously twirling her hair around her fingers.
Demetri nodded, smiling at her he replied, “Yes, I am Demetri. It is nice to meet you.”
The girl blushed as he answered, “What do you think of Ely?” She asked him, sitting down next to him.
Demetri thought about it, “I love the wildlife and the forest.” He replied truthfully.
The girl laughed, smiling a little, “I know, isn’t it beautiful here.” She replied staring off into space with a dreamy smile on her face.
The teacher then called for attention, saving Demetri from having to answer, “Class, we have a new student, Demetri Romeovan.” With these two words, many of the girls turned to look at him, however, to his surprise, the two gothic girls didn’t. ‘How odd,’ he thought.
After about 15 minutes of homeroom, the bell finally rang. Angel got up and turned towards him, “What is your next class?” she asked him.
One of the Goth girls heard this, and asked her, “Angel, won’t Tommy get slightly upset if he sees you with another guy?” she asked in a sarcastic voice.
Angel turned to her, glaring, “Who asked you, Phury? And what kind of name in that anyways? Where you parents mental or something?” she snapped back.
The other girl stepped forward, the one Demetri was trying to avoid. She was extremely beautiful, with magenta eyes and raven black hair. A black fire burned in her eyes as she glared at Angel, “Now now, Angel. I suggest you not start anything with Phury, because then Derek and I would I have to get involved. I don’t think you would appreciate that. And, Angel, Phury has her nickname because she has a very deadly skill…would you like to play with fire sometime, too?” she asked in a musical, yet calm voice, that had a deadly undertone.
Angel took a step back, “Of course not, Ebony. I am sorry; I didn’t mean anything by it. Oh and can you tell your brother I said hi?” she asked hopefully.
With out answering Ebony walked away, Derek and Phury followed her loyally. Demetri watched them leave, with a frown on his perfectly sculpted face. Still the two girls paid no attention to him, and it made him nervous. No girl has ever not paid attention to him before.
Ebony turned back once more, a sly smile on her soft pale face, “And, Angel, Toni is no longer available. Sorry!” She smiled charmingly from Angel to Demetri, “But if I am right you are the only girl who has talked to ‘him’ so I wouldn’t worry. Though he looks a tad to ‘Preppy’ but compared to me everyone is preppy.” With that she turned to leave.
Demetri watched, curiously, at her retreating back. He turned to Angel, “Who is that?” He asked her nervous that she may get mad at him.
Angel laughed faintly, “That is Ebony. She has a twin brother named Stephen, but compared to her they have nothing in common. His hair is a golden blonde, and slightly curly, while his eyes are the most gorgeous of blue. Though I must admit I have never met anyone with gold eyes before, they are beautiful.”
If Demetri could have blushed he would have. No one has ever told him anything like that before. “Thank you, they are hereditary. Every one in my family has them.” ‘Because we are all vampires,’ He added in his head.
Angel nodded, “So what is your next class?” she asked him again.
Demetri chuckled, “Spanish with Mrs. Zora, and you my fair maiden?” he replied as he looked up from his paper that held his schedule.
Angel blushed brightly, “The same!” she replied excitedly.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Ebony mumbled under her breath as she walked towards her Spanish class. Although because of her mage abilities she could speak it as well as Latin, German, French, and Greek fluently. But she was ‘required’ by her parents to take it anyways.
“Hola, Senora Zora.” Ebony muttered as she walked in to Spanish class.
“Hola, Ebony, ¿Cómo estás?” The teacher replied happily. She was always excited to see Ebony, seeing she was the only student in the school, other than Phury and Derek who could speak Spanish as well as she did.
Ebony smiled at her favorite teacher, “Estoy regular. Y tu, senora?” she asked in her quiet voice.
‘Yo Estoy muy bein. Regular, ¿Por qué?” Senora Zora asked a frown crossing her face.
Ebony laughed, “Alumno nuevo.” She explained in two words.
Senora laughed, “English, now Ebony. The rest of the students are coming in. And yes I did, infact, hear about the new student…Demetri Romeovan. He has slightly shaggy black hair and golden eyes?” she asked for clarification.
Ebony nodded, disgust written on her face, “Yep that is him. Muy…um… espontáneo. How did you know what he looked like?”
Senora Zora smacked her lips, “Because he is standing behind you.”
Ebony gasped, a blush crept along her face, “Cur nemo denarro ipse addo? Adeo addo cosmicos accessio!”
Senora Zora gasped, “Was that Latin, because if it was you truly know more than the teachers here give you credit for.”
Ebony only nodded as she turned to face Demetri.
Senora Zora was right. He stared at her smirking, “Can I
help you?” he asked her in his clear ringing voice.
Ebony was surprised by how beautiful his voice sounded, but then remembered this was a dumb new student. “Sorry but I don’t associate with preppy jocks. Go try one of the other HUNDRED of girls fawning over you. They are around every corner.” She answered sarcastically.
Demetri narrowed his eyes and a forgotten instinct inside her screamed, Leave, Run before it is too late.
Taking a deep breathe, she walked away before he could reply to her out burst. God where was Phury when you need her…Now where was grandmother. She would know what was odd about that new kid…Demetri.
She groaned angrily as he sat next to her, in response he shot her a dark glare. ‘Well he has attitude, but he doesn’t have what it takes to hang with my friends.’ She thought slightly impressed.
Demetri stared at her, “Do I bother you?” he asked her, sarcastically already knowing her answer.
Ebony smiled evilly, “Yes, but I am more than you think. I can promise that.” She refused to say another word, to keep him on his feet.
Demetri gave her a strange look, “What is that suppose to mean? How can you be anything more than a little Goth girl?” he asked deliberately picking to get under her skin.
Ebony stared at him, and laughed. “I would watch my back If I were you.” Was all she would say. Demetri, giving up, wouldn’t say another word, “Goth girl one, new kid zip.” She whispered to him.
Demetri chuckled, and nodded toward Angel as she sat on his other side.
“Ebony, Stephen told me to tell you, that your mom says that you were to go straight home after school.” Angel informed her.
Ebony laughed, “Angel, I am half tempted to not even go home tonight. I want to just take to the air and fly south forever.
Demetri stared at her as she said this. “Angel, I suggest you not talk to the little Goth girl, she isn’t very nice.”
Ebony stuck her tongue out at him, and silently raked her brain for an appropriate curse to lie on him. Her eyes slowly began to turn to a darker magenta, as her raging black fiery mage soul, lit behind them. She slowly closed her eyes calming her self till her eyes were back to their original color, and the raging black fire was turned to a dull flame.
Demetri was staring at her, brows ruffled together as he tried to work her together. Ebony almost laughed out loud, as she slowly shook her head, “Give up, no one can understand me. Almost every guy in this school has tried.”
Demetri turned his head away from her, and continued to talk to Angel, but Ebony knew that he would still try to figure it out, Poor Demetri.
Finally after a painful 50 minutes of ‘review’, as Ebony referred to it, of Spanish the bell finally rang. She sprinted out of the classroom before Demetri could utter a single word to her.
She raced down the hall and found Phury and Derek in front of her locker. “Shall we go and eat?” She asked them, linking arms with Phury.
Together they made it to the lunchroom, were Stephen ambushed her, “Hey sis, I heard you agreed to go out with Toni. Wow, I never though I would see the day my twin would be dating a jock.” He teased unmercifully.
Ebony glared at him, “Go away, or else you won’t see another day,” she threatened darkly, “But I accepted your approval and your dark thoughts and teasing is getting a lot better.”
Stephen laughed, as he walked away with his friends, “By the way Eb, I will make sure to come up with an excuse to why you are late getting home. And of course it will be very impressive and believable.”
Ebony smiled, “Thanks, Steph!” she called as she watched him leave, he raised a small hand in Farwell. “God he thinks he is so impressive. Stupid brother, I can’t believe you two make me be nice to him. AGHHH!!!!”
Phury’s face suddenly went completely blank, “Oh god, New Student Alert!” Phury muttered darkly.
Ebony spun to See Demetri walking, both alone and towards them. A dark look crossed over her face, ‘Great, here comes sir annoyance.’
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Demetri felt her gaze on him, before he even caught her scent. He looked up to see Ebony and her two friends standing by the large doors that lead to the cafeteria. A look of pain lay hidden under her scowl.
Demetri began to wonder what was wrong as he approached them, “Can I assist you with something?” he asked quietly as he approached them.
A person behind Ebony whispered something to her. Phury turned with a look of disgust on her face. Ebony blushed brightly as a tear ran down her pale cheek.
Demetri felt an undeniable urge to wipe it gently away, and cradle her soft cheek in his strong, yet cold hands.
Ebony turned away from him, “Phury, Derek, leave him. Let’s go out to eat. I don’t want to have to sit threw lunch. Did you answer him yet, Derek?”
Derek slowly shook his head, “I’ll tell him you said no, Okay Ebony.” Ebony wrapped her thin arms around his strong shoulders. Demetri found himself wishing it were him she was hugging.
Ebony shook her head, “No don’t, I think it would be nice for me to have another, more believable excuse to leave the house, or come home late, plus Toni is way nice.” Derek only nodded.
He watched them leave with a small frown on his
extremely pale face. Why was she making him feel this way? She is but a mere mortal, who ought to mean absolutely nothing to him. Yet for some odd, unknown reason, he was feeling some emotion, which he knew not what it was, for her. He shook his head slowly, and walked into the cafeteria. Angel waved from an empty table, indicating she expected him to sit with her today.
He slowly made his way toward her, eyeing the human food with disgust. He smiled at her, wishing he himself could have gone out to eat. He decided that tomorrow he would.
“Hello Angel,” he greeted the girl as he sat down. He glanced at the human food that sat in front of her. ‘How can these humans eat such disgusting foods?’ He thought disgustedly.
Angel smiled broadly at him, “Hello Demetri. Aren’t you eating?” She asked him, with a flirty smile.
Demetri shook his head, “Nah, I rarely eat lunch. And I am pretty sure that cafeteria food could do anything to me.”
Angel laughed, but oh how it didn’t sound anything like Ebony’s. Hers had a musical quality to it. “The food has actually made some of the students sick, though the teachers and school staff won’t admit it.”
Demetri nodded, and began to tone her out. ‘Only two more hours of school to go.’ He though excited by the realization.
“Demetri, where did you live before?” Angel suddenly asked. Her face curious, her eyes twinkling.
Demetri thought and slowly smiled, “I lived in Italy for the longest time, but before coming here I was in Paris, France.” He replied calmly.
Angel gasped, “Wow that must have been amazing living in both Italy and Paris. An of course a major change to come here.”
Demetri nodded, “Yes a very big change. I must admit that I wasn’t too positive about the idea of coming to a public school,” his mind wandered to all the new things here, yet rested on Ebony scorching eyes. “I was home schooled before.”
Angel smiled brightly, “I am glad that you came here instead of being home schooled. Though the girls ought to concentrate more on school and whatever, then watching you.”
Demetri scowled, “That would have to be the one down fall then. I don’t like attention all that much.”
Angel stared at him in surprise, “Really, who doesn’t like attention.” She slowly stood up as the bell rang. “I have P.E. now. God I don’t want to go.” She whimpered sadly.
Demetri laughed, “I have art,” he replied as he glanced at his schedule, all though he didn’t need to. He already had it memorized.
Angel smirked, “Ebony and Phury have that class. You are going to have so much fun. They are like the best artists in the school.”
She waved as she left, Demetri sighed as he walked out of the cafeteria. He immanently saw Phury and Ebony walking down one of the many halls at this school. He dared not try to talk to them, but followed them to the art room.
Angel was right; they truly did have this class, GREAT!
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Ebony glared at Demetri as he walked in. Slowly she made her way to him, “You know, Demetri, it isn’t very appropriate to stalk people.” She teased, sitting next to Phury.
Demetri sat at their table, amused by their pained looks as he did so, “Some one stalks you? Poor fellow he must be blind.”
Phury grabbed Ebony’s arm, “Don’t last time you tried, you caused an entire plaque.” Phury whispered.
Ebony laughed, “It was a simple miss pronouncing of words. I mean it isn’t like my family was the cause of the Black Pla-” Phury cut her off with a wave of laugher, “Oh wait never mind.” Ebony muttered, blushing a light pink.
Phury looked at Demetri, “Dude, I just saved your butt. God only knows what would have happened if I let her.”
Ebony flashed her an evil grin, “Let’s ask Derek.” Ebony suggested.
Phury’s smile vanished at that single comment, “Ebony, that isn’t even funny.” Phury told her, glaring. “I can’t believe you would even suggest such a thing. Ebony! You aren’t even funny, that is just horrible.”
Ebony stared at Phury, surprise outlined every feature in her face, “Phury relax, I couldn’t do it even if I wanted to. Derek is like a brother to me. I would never hurt him. I would think that you would know that.”
Phury began to calm down as Demetri turned to Ebony, “What did I miss?” He asked them, confusion lit his gold eyes.
Ebony rolled her eyes, “Like only 17 years of fun and inside jokes. Plus even if you were here you still wouldn’t know what it is we speak of.”
Demetri laughed, his voice clear and sparkling like bells, and caught Ebony by surprise. ‘Wow, he was an amazing laugh, I wonder how well he sings with a voice like that. Though I have a voice of an angel, as Phury puts it, I don’t sing. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t.’ His voice interrupted her thoughts, “So what type of Art work are we working on?”
Ebony smiled to herself, “Fantasy…Fiction. Something that isn’t real,” in a smaller voice she added, “To most people.” Ebony pulled out a large piece of paper that held a picture of three humans, with large wings attached to their backs, in mid flight. A female lead the other two, male and female humans. It was a portrait of Ebony, Phury, and Derek flying over the forest near Ely.
Phury grinned at it as she pulled out hers that showed two females in the middle of a magic match. With their hair flying everywhere, and sparks dancing this way and that. It was from a mock fight that Ebony and Phury had during that summer. It was called at a draw, because both girls had ended on the ground laughing.
Demetri stared at the two pieces of art, “Wow, those are amazing. Fantasy must be so much fun to draw. I have never tried it.”
Ebony and Phury exchanged glances, truthfully they
hadn’t either, but they weren’t going to tell him that. Ebony nodded, “Um…Yah, it is way amazing. I guess.”
Demetri took the paper that the art teacher had handed him, and slowly began to sketch. Ebony felt herself began to watch with amazement. A figure in a crouched position began to take shape, fangs were projecting from his mouth, and his eyes were like the eyes of death.
“Demetri here let me see that.” Ebony instructed. Demetri nervously handed it over to her. She gently took it and explained what she was fixing as she fixed it, “You have only the slightest impression of wind, thus, causing your wind in the area to look completely horrifying.” She started with the figures hair and gave it the illusion of wind flying around him. Next she worked the clothes, so they too mirrored the way of the gusts of wind. Finally she gave the trees in the background some twisting and twirling limbs and leaves moving with the wind.
She then handed it back, “See now it has the illusion of wind.”
Demetri stared at his art, “Wow, it looks amazing, only from a little bit of curvy lines, forming Wind. You did some amazing work here.”
Ebony blushed, “Thanks, I just love art.” She muttered, in her quiet voice. “It is amazing.”
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Demetri smiled as she complemented his work.
Ebony studied the picture, “Wow, I love vampires, and yours looks amazingly cute.” Phury laughed as she nodded in agreement.
Demetri’s heart soared with this little small comment, ‘Yeah well it happens to be me, that you are calling cute, my little goth girl.’ He thought with a smile growing wider on his face.
Ebony looked at him, “You okay? You’re looking paler than earlier.” She commented.
Demetri nodded, “Yeah, I am fine. Why, were you worried?” He teased, narrowing his eyes.
Ebony laughed, “You wish! I honestly would want you to be sick cause then I wouldn’t have to put up with you. Preppy jock boy…”
Demetri shut up imminently once she said that, “Goth girl-2, New kid-0” Phury commented, upon his lack of words.
Ebony smiled, “Poor poor Demetri. He is losing.” She teased.
‘I could win if I used a vampire prospective of this. I could probably win then.’ He thought, a secret smile playing on his lips. “Only for now, only for now.” He replied instantly.
Ebony laughed and gathered her things, Phury hovering over her eyeing Demetri untrustfully, as the bell rang.
Demetri smiled at them, as he left gently, “I know you are both heart broken for me leaving, but I might see you both later.” They both stared at him with surprise written on their faces, “Goth girl-2, Stranger-1. I am catching up.” He laughed as he walked away.
“Wow, he’s got style. Ebony, I think he likes you…”
Phury muttered to Ebony as they watched him leave.
Demetri smiled to him self, knowing that if he wasn’t a vampire he wouldn’t be able to hear Ebony’s answer.
Ebony smiled to herself, “He is kind of cute himself, but you know my parents…” Ebony sighed, a look of despair crossed her face, "I wish they would just let me be. Why was I the one born into a family that doesn’t respect me?” She asked Phury in a quiet helpless voice.
Phury engulfed Ebony, doing exactly what Demetri wanted to do himself, “It is okay, hell, if you ever need to you could always fly away or even cause a plaque to befall them. Then they would respect you.” She tried to comfort.
Demetri sighed, as he walked towards P.E. this, he could already feel, would be one of those few classes he didn’t have with Ebony. But maybe if luck were truly with him he would have the next class with her.
He walked into the locker room, and quickly changed into a pair of gym shorts. He walked out to the gymnasium with the rest of the guys in the class. ‘This is going to be interesting,’ thought Demetri, a frown on his face ‘I have more strength than the average 17 or 18 year old male, I am going to have to be careful.’ He looked around at the rest of the kids waiting for this torture to be done.
In what felt like days, but was more like 45 minutes, P.E. was finally over. Demetri almost skipped to the locker room. Finally he left that horrible experience behind him, and made his way to Science.
He almost ran straight into a girl, heading in the same direction, in his hurry to get away from the memoirs of Gym Class. “I am sorry, I didn’t see you.” The girl looked up at him, “Phury? What is wrong?” he asked as he recognized her, with tears running down her face.
Phury glared at him, “Nothing, but I have got to find Ebony. And quickly…She needs to hear this from someone she trusts.” She started past him, but he caught her arm, “Let go, Demetri.”
Demetri stared into her eyes, “I’ll help you find her, where is her next class?” he asked; not yet letting go of her arm.
Phury glared at him, “She skips this period. So she should be out in the forest, but you can’t come with me.” Phury told him defiantly.
“Fine,” Demetri spat, “But I will walk you to the forest. Then I my self will wait for you at the edge, however, I may get bored and in turn enter the forest.”
“Whatever,” Growled Phury as she wrenched her arm free and began to walk towards the forest. Demetri in step with her.
When they reached the edge, “Here,” Phury gave Demetri a small phone, “If I need you, I’ll call. And if you use any of the minutes for your own calls, I’ll be beyond angry. Ebony may feel as though you aren’t a threat, but that doesn’t mean that I trust you.”
Demetri laughed, “I’ll miss you too,” He replied. He waited for her reply, when she didn’t he added, “Goth girls-2, Stranger-2.”
“Okay, One…Stranger isn’t for you, Two…This is between you and Ebony, I am not included so it is still, Goth girl-2, Preppy Jock-1.” Phury informed him as she walked in to the forest.
Keeping his distance he followed her, He saw her reach a clearing, and by the time he saw what was in it, Phury and Ebony were talking.
“Oh God, what! You have to be kidding!” Ebony cried, hiding her face in her hands.
Phury rubbed Ebony’s back, “I know, that is what I thought when Thomis told me.”
Ebony flew up, “What!” She screeched, “Thomis is here, god what else can go wrong?”
Phury laughed, “I know you hate your cousin, but you do realize he is now the only one to teach us.”
Ebony started to cry, “Who killed him, Phury? Because when I find out whom they will pay.” Ebony hissed, as she made her promise.
Phury’s eyes darkened, “I asked Thomis that, and got but one word out of his clinched teeth.” Ebony stared at her impatiently, “VAMPIRE.” Phury whispered so lowly, that Demetri could barely hear.
Demetri drew back into the shadows. ‘What did they mean by vampire? They act as if my kind are the spawn of the devil. Of course must of us are, but some are quite like angels compared to the others. There is a reason of why I don’t drink human blood, and that is to keep from becoming a monster, like they believe my kind are.’ Demetri though sadly as he watched Ebony’s own gaze darken at the word. ‘What have my brethren done to her?’ He thought sympathetically as he watched them.
Suddenly Phury turned towards his hiding spot, and whispered something to Ebony, “Hey, Demetri, you don’t have to hide now. How long have you been listening?”
Demetri stared at them in surprise, “How did you know I was here?” he asked as he stepped out of the trees and walked towards the two girls.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Ebony wiped the tears from her eyes as Demetri walked toward Phury and her. “I heard you hide by the tree, a little after Phury came to find me.”
Demetri nodded slowly, “Question, What is going on?” He asked them.
Ebony was about to answer, when Phury interrupted, “It is none of your business.” Phury told him darkly.
Ebony laid a gentle hand on her shoulder, “I’ll explain a little bit to him, since you did let him follow you.”
“I didn’t.” Phury contradicted angrily.
“You told him were you were going, and even let him come along to the edge of the forest. Did you not?” Ebony asked her; she then turned to Demetri, “One of my best friends Jason was murdered, three days ago. My cousin just now came to tell us this, acting as if it was nothing.” Ebony explained, fighting back the urge to cry.
A look of sympathy, and something else she didn’t recognize cross Demetri’s face. “I am sorry…”He muttered to them quietly. The bell rang distantly, “I guess it is time for us to get back to school.” He said as he looked towards the school. “Do I get the honor of escorting one beautiful girl to the school?” he asked Ebony, with a smile on his lips that lit up hid gold eyes.
Ebony smiled in response, “If you want to, then I‘d advise you ask Phury yourself. Though I hope you do realize she is going out with Derek.”
Demetri laughed, “Ebony I was referring to you.”
Demetri’s gaze taking hold of Ebony’s. “What do you say?” He asked.
Ebony laughed, “In your dreams, Jock.” She laughed happily as she ran towards the school.
Phury stared at Demetri, “You are so incredibly liking her. I also know she thinks you are cute, and that you adore her.” Phury told Demetri.
Demetri laughed, “You are a lot more intelligent than people think.” He told her.
“Is that a compliment?” Phury asked staring at Demetri, a look of mock amazement crossing her face.
“PHURY! HURRY UP!” Ebony called from the forest, as she glared at her best friend. ‘I can’t believe she told him that. That was so personal.’ She thought angrily.
Phury grinned and ran towards Ebony; together they
entered the school, not looking behind them once. They discovered Derek waiting just inside the school, “How are you two?” He asked as he gave them each a hug. Holding hands with Phury, they walked down the hall. “Ebony, they are doing blood samples in Science Tomorrow, just so you are warned.”
Ebony smiled at Derek. “Thank you so much, Derek.” She replied. Ebony had an odd talent with blood. It sang to her, and forced her to listen. The magic in blood called strongly to her, more strongly then too must Mages.
Phury laughed, “Ebony, you aren’t angry with me are you?” she asked teasingly.
Ebony glared darkly at her best friend, “YES!” She exclaimed turning away from her friends. “I am going home. I don’t feel like attending my last two classes. I’ll see you guys later. Bye” she waved to them as she left, and walked into the forest. She quickly formed her black wings and took to the air eager to get away.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Demetri watched Ebony leave with a saddened expression on his face. Oh how he wished he could truly get to know her, but he feared she won’t let anyone but Phury and Derek in past her barriers protecting her from the rest of the world, and still he doubts they are even allowed that far into her mind.
He walked up to Phury, “I am sorry she is mad at you, it is mostly my fault.”
Phury smiled brightly at him, “Nah, she’ll simmer down in a few hours. Just let her get use to you. I’ll see you around Demetri.” Together she and her boyfriend walked away leaving Demetri alone yet again.
Demetri sighed and headed to his Math class. Angel soon was walking at his side, “Hey Demetri!” She greeted him happily.
Demetri smiled at her, “Hello Angel.” He greeted back, he watched her curiously, and how this girl just popped out of nowhere still surprised him.
“Where are you heading to?” she asked curiously, she seamed to hold her breath as she waited for him to answer her.
“Math, with some lady named Mrs. Foldes.” He told her, as he looked at some of the students rushing ahead of him, careful not to meet anyone’s eyes.
Angel seemed to skip a step, as her eyes lit up with excitement, “I am to, I’ll show you the way. Sadly though, Ebony has this class too, though I heard Phury tell her freaky boyfriend, that Ebony left for the rest of the day.”
Demetri nodded, pretending this was the first time he had heard this information, “what do you have after math?” he asked her.
Angel smiled, “Dance…I leave for the last class to go to the dance studio to take classes of dance. What about you?”
Demetri let out a heavy sigh, “Two words Study Hall.” He told her. She giggled in response. “What type of Dance do you do?” he asked her inquisitively.
Angel smiled brightly, “I ballroom dance.” She told him a soaring emotion in her voice. Her eyes turned dreamy, “All types of dancing actually.”
Demetri smiled, “I use to dance ballroom, but that was years ago,” ‘Before I am what I am today,’ He added in his head.
Angels grin broadened, “Maybe we could dance together some time?” she asked hopefully. She eyed him with flirty eyes.
“Maybe, “he agreed, suddenly thinking speaking up about his past was a bad idea. “I noticed that the Ebony girl has a bit of a temper.” He commented.
Angel laughed harshly, “Ya, most of the teachers don’t even think about it any more. She and her two friends get away with a lot, just because the teachers feel bad for them.”
Demetri stared at her puzzled, “Feel bad for them?” he asked her, his eyes shining with confusion.
Angel smiled darkly, “Ebony is in a family full of perfect normal people, so her parents treat her badly, and her grandmother that was just like her died a few months ago.
“Phury’s parents are dead, some say it was Phury herself who killed them, but she never speaks about them. She is now living with a pair of adoptive parents, who are just as odd as her, though not in the same way. They are odd because they are scientists who study mythological creatures.
“And then Derek, he used to be a very cute jock. But he always dressed in black and never spoke to anyone, and then the day Ebony and Phury started to attend this school, he began to get along with them. I guess he found something he had in common with them. Then he started dating Phury, crushing tons of girls’ hearts. He has been dating her for the last 3 and half years.
“Though Ebony never goes out, she has shot down every guy that has come her way, except one…” Angel broke off for a few minutes before continuing, “He didn’t attend our school, she met him at some type of store. She fell in love with him, but he died a few months ago. A tragic accident and no one knows what he died from.”
Demetri listened attentively, noticing they stood outside the math doorway for quite awhile. They rushed in and sat down seconds before the bell. Mrs. Foldes glanced around the small class, “Hello everyone, today we will be working on Linear equations. There are two forms, Linear and non Linear-” she started once everyone had sat down. Demetri immanently stopped listening, since he knew all of this already. He began to think about what Angel had said about Ebony, Phury, and Derek. Her hatred for them was apparent, especially for Ebony. Demetri began to wonder to himself, ‘I wonder what Ebony or the others did to Angel to make her hate them so much. It must have been pretty bad for the level of hatred she holds for them. And I wonder who that boy that Ebony fell in love with was?’
The bell finally rang, Demetri said goodbye to Angel, as she hoped on a bus with another 4 or 5 students, another 7 already where seated on the bus. He decided to just to head home. He followed a path he had discovered earlier on his way to school, but didn’t have time to follow.
It twisted and turned through out the whole forest. He had to admit it was amazing. It led him to a large clearing. He looked around at it in surprise. It felt familiar. The trees were charcoaled black, and the bit of grass that did lay in the clearing where black, with a few green chutes. Must of it was barren and full of dirt. A small crystal clear stream was at the opposite end. He stared at marvel at the fact that this half was rich in green grass and beautiful full trees. Suddenly he realized where he recognized the clearing from…Phury’s drawing, as well as from the clearing the creatures in Ebony’s picture, flew over. A frown crossed over his face. What did this mean? Could Ebony and Phury be something they appear not to be? Ebony’s words ran through his head from earlier. ‘I am more than you think.’ He walked home, nervously glancing over his back, as his ‘Fathers’ words repeated in his mind. ‘Demetri only two things are powerful enough to kill our kind, a werewolf (if they do exist) and a mage. A mage is a person who can use magic, son. And you want to watch out for them. They aren’t always the best of things.’ Demetri remembered how stupid his father had seemed to Demetri when he told Demetri this. There was no such thing as magic. Even he knew that, but now he wasn’t to sure. ‘I’ll just have to keep a closer eye on Ebony, and see if I can discover anything.’ He decided immanently. He continued to walk home, though he still glanced over his shoulder every so often.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Ebony took a deep, yet annoyed breath. Her mind seemed to continue to drift towards a picture of Demetri’s smiling face. What was this? Love? No it couldn’t be, he was just some guy she met. But god, if she was crushing on this…this BOY it would be bad. She is Ebonithia Magick Tworn, heir to the leader of the circle she belonged to. She was a Magick user, a mage. And a very powerful one, too, and this boy would just be in terrible danger if he ever got involved with her. She would never want to put someone in such danger. It just wasn’t her type of thing. But she had…With Jeromi. But that was an accident, Thomas didn’t know what to expect from this human boyfriend, and he got a little rough. But Jeromi was dead now, and it was her fault anyways. If she hadn’t met him in that Magick store, stupid place it was all fake anyways, he would still be alive.
She flapped her wings lazily, gazing at the rolling hills. It was then that see saw him. ‘Demetri? Impossible! He should have left after I did, which means he couldn’t, no shouldn’t be this far from the school yet.’ She glanced nervously at her watch, ‘School isn’t even over yet.’ This human is beginning to feel not so human. Maybe there was more to him like there was more to her. She pondered this, ‘He can’t be a mage, because we would have both recognized the power in each other. So that would put him at…’ Ebony gasped fear razing in her bones, ‘AN IMMORTAL!’ If that was true then she is in so much trouble. An immortal is dangerous, especially to Ebony and her friends. They are still magelits. Still in training, and an immortal could easily take over Phury and Derek, though would have a tough match with her. She could take on any dumb ass immortal that thinks he is all that.
She felt the anger well up inside her. She looked down to the ground again, a frown crossed her face, and he was moving amazingly fast. She started down to where he was, landing lightly behind him. Once she had her wings hidden she called to him, “DEMETRI!”
He spun around fear on his face, though his face showed no emotion when he saw it was her, “what… how…Ebony where did you come from?” he asked glancing nervously around him.
Ebony stared straight into his eyes, “The question is... How did you get this far away from the school so quickly?” She demanded to know.
Demetri stared at her nervously, “I got a ride, then when the reached the turn on for this road I got out and started to walk, why?”
Ebony stared at him, concern washed over her. She could feel he was hiding something, “Just curious. Most people don’t give rides to those they don’t know here.” She replied, starting to walk with him.
Demetri nodded, falling instep with her, “How long have you lived here?” he asked her. A smile crossed his face as he glanced at her.
Ebony looked away from Demetri, blushing slightly, “FOREVER! I am probably the one person in this town who wants to get away.” She told him, forgetting about her suspicion about him.
Demetri laughed lightly, “I move quite often, and hate it! My parents move when we have stayed to someplace to long. I actually would like to stay here a longer time, then the other places we have lived. This place actually seems…” He stared at her happily, “enjoyable.” He finished.
Ebony stared into his eyes, noting how much the look like liquid gold. She smiled softly, “Nah, it would probably seem boring to you.”
Demetri stopped at a dirt trail, which Ebony knew from a few years ago of exploring that it lead to an antique house. “I guess I’ll see you at school tomorrow. See you later, Demetri.” She told him, as she turned and left. Once he was out of sight, she let her soft wings reform.
She gently flew up and felt the soft wind caressing her body gently. She fell and rose as the wind rose and fell. She glided, her wings outstretched to their full 14ft. wingspan, home where she saw Derek and Phury waiting.
She landed gently, a smile creeping across her face, as they hugged her tightly. “Your mother wouldn’t let us in. She says we are inappropriate friends that need to disappear. Does she speak the truth?” Derek asked Ebony, a teasing grin on his smooth tan face.
Ebony laughed, “Yep sounds about right, Lets go to the clearing and practice some. It has been a while since I had a fight with you Derek. Want to try and beat me, or will you get scared like Phury?” She asked taking off into the air, the others taking off right behind her.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Demetri walked into his house, fear was weaving its way threw his body. Did his parents see him with Ebony, and what about his siblings? He hoped nothing bad would happen to her on his account.
His father was sitting in the library, Demetri stood by the door waiting for his dad to notice him. “Hello son, how was school?” He asked when he looked up from the book he was reading from.
Demetri grimaced, “It is a lot different then what it was when I was really that age. I knew the stuff they are studying when I was but 11 years old. And these students are about 17 or 18 years old. It is actually quite depressing.” He told his father as he took a seat next to the man who changed him.
Blaydon was not Demetri’s real father, merely the man who changed him into what he is today. But he was the closest thing to a father he has ever had. Truth was, Demetri’s father was never a real father to him. He treated him more like a slave then his son. But now he had Blaydon, and at least he actually treated Demetri like his son.
Blaydon laughed, “It will just take a little while to get used to it. Just wait in a few weeks you will love it, though I suggest next time you should stay the whole day.” He winked to Demetri; his gold eyes twinkled, in the light from the setting sun.
Demetri smiled, “Maybe…I guess I’ll just have to see what this new experiment of living as a human will turn out.” Demetri told him. Blaydon smiled approvingly, “I’m, going up to my bedroom, to finish the picture up there.” Demetri told the older man, leaving him to finish reading.

Dear Dairy,
Well this is going to be a little bit different of a school year. For once I have a date for the Halloween party. It is actually quite amazing. I was so surprised when Toni asked everyone to ask me. So of course I had to agree, but the really surprising thing is…My cousin Thomis is here. He has been here a few days now. And like me he is a Mage. He came to tell Phury, Derek, and I that Jason has been murdered by a vampire. I can’t believe it. Those stupid devious creatures it is their entire fault my best friend since I was born is dead. Looking at the words I just wrote sound so weird. I hate the thought of never seeing Jason again. This isn’t seeming like the best thing that has happened…
Ebony put her dairy away, afraid that tears would mess up the writing, She was finally able to reflect on what had happened. She was going to miss Jason so incredibly much. He has been there for her, since… forever. He was the closest thing to a brother she has ever had.
Ebony pulled up her hair into a half ponytail, leaving out a piece of bangs to hang over her left eye. She grabbed a pair of pants from her closet and a black t-shirt from her drawer. She changed quickly and started down stairs to talk to her parents.
She found them in the breakfast hall with her brother and little sister, “Mom, Dad.” She called nervously and quietly. Her parents looked up, “I have a date for the Halloween Dance at school, and I want to know if I can get a new dress for it.”
Her mother stared at her in shock, “A date? Not with a little goth kid I hope.”
Her brother, Stephen, laughed, “Nope mom, it is one of my jock friends…Toni.”
Ebony’s mother smiled happily, “Oh Ebonithia, I am so happy for you. Toni is such a sweet young man. How about we go shopping for you dress after school today, I’ll pick you up.”
Ebony stared at her mother in surprise, “Umm. Okay I guess. And before I forget, Thomis is in town.” She told her mother, waiting for the familiar sparkle to return to her mother’s eyes whenever Thomis was mentioned.
“Oh is he, how delightful!” her mother cooed. ‘Right on cue mother.’ Ebony thought darkly, “Oh honey, why is he here though?”
Ebony’s face fell, not much but enough for her family to notice. “It is Jason. He is dead. I was trying to wait and tell you about Thomis till I could actually believe he was gone. And I will never see him again.” she choked out before the tears started to fall. Ebony was surprised when she felt her mother’s arms embrace her.
“Oh Ebony, I am so sorry. First Jeromi and now Jason. This really isn’t fair for you. Maybe you should stay home today.” Her mother suggested.
Ebony shook her head, “No I shouldn’t. Today is your day off.” She said to her mother’s shirt.
Ebony’s mother laughed, “We will go out and enjoy a girl’s day out. Okay honey.” Ebony felt herself go along.
“Thanks mom, I think that is exactly what I need. Can I call Phury and let her know. I don’t want her to worry. She may think I went out and killed myself or something.” Ebony excused her self and talked to Phury for about 5 minutes on the phone, and then she was leaving with her mother.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Demetri walked home threw the darkness, silent as ever. His mind raced with questions. ‘Where was Ebony today? I hope she is all right.’ His mind repeated this one unanswered question. He looked out at the dark forest around him. It surprised him at how early the sunset. He found a familiar trail of to his left. The trail that lead to the odd clearing. Without thinking he began to walk it.
It twisted and turned, and finally he found the entrance to the clearing. He stood at the edge and looked around. His eyes lit up with surprise when he saw Ebony sitting alone on a small rock, gazing up at the star filled sky.
“Hello, Demetri.” She called quietly. It caught Demetri by surprise at how she could always know when it was him who hid in the shadows.
He slowly walked towards her. He sat on the soft grass, next to the rock, “Why are you here all by your self?” He demanded to know.
Ebony laughed lightly, “What’s wrong Demetri? Are you worried about me?” She teased, smiling at him.
Demetri willingly met her gaze, “Yes.” He agreed almost to quiet for her to hear.
Ebony laughed, sliding onto the grass to sit next to him. She lay down on her back, “You shouldn’t. There is so much to me that you don’t know. But you should realize that I can take care of myself.”
Demetri rolled over onto his side to look at her, “Still…Why are you here alone, you haven’t yet answered my question.” He reminded her.
Ebony rolled her eyes, “Wanted to get away from my family, and didn’t want Phury and Derek’s 20 questions game.” She explained.
Demetri nodded, “I’ve had that feeling before. Your family doesn’t always understand you, and you want to just be by your self doing things your way.” He said thoughtfully.
Ebony stared at him, her eyes alit with curiosity, “And how would you know that feeling, preppy jock?” She asked him.
Demetri laughed at the familiarity of the nickname, “Because that is my family.” He replied truthfully.
Ebony stared at him, her eyes like open doors to the emotions she was feeling, “Oh really, I’m sorry.” She stared out across the empty area, “You know Demetri,” she suddenly said, “You are in so much danger being here alone with me.” Her voice was barely above a whimper. “I use to think people were safe with me, but Thomis, my cousin, proved me wrong. It was because of him that Jeromi died. He was my last boyfriend. We had been dating for a year when Thomis met him. He got a little rough with Jeromi…” She broke off and wiped a gentle tear from her eye.
Demetri watched her, sadness blooming in his eyes. He was amazed however, at the fact that she was actually sharing things with him, “Ya, tell me about it. If my girlfriends get to close to me, my sister or brothers drive them away.”
Ebony laughed lightly, “I didn’t know you had siblings.” She commented simply.
Demetri nodded, “Yes, I have 2 older brothers, and an older sister. Oh and then a younger sister.” He felt his face form a frown. “But they never give me any space. I bet your brother is better than mine.”
Ebony laugher, “Actually not. My brother is a jerk. But Phury, Derek, and my parents make me be nice to him. My little sister is probably the only one who really likes me for me. The rest of my family thinks I am a crazy witch.”
Demetri stared at her in surprise, “Witch?” he asked fear rising in his bones, “like a mage?”
Ebony stared at him wide eyed at what she had given away. She got to her feet, turned and ran.
Demetri called after her, but she kept running. He felt as though part of his soul was ripped out and went to run with her.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Ebony felt the warm tears leak out of her eyes. Why did she even say that? What would he do now he knew her most precious of secrets? And worse he was some for of an immortal who could use the information against her.
No, he wouldn’t do that. Not Demetri!’ She thought defiantly. Her mind wandered as she walked along an old dirt road. She heard a rustling in the trees. Fear sent chills running up her spine. “Who’s there?” She called, not letting any amount of fear into her voice, “Demetri is that you?”
Heavy laughter erupted from the bushes. “I isn’t no Demetri.” A voice boomed out. The voice made Ebony quiver in fear. She recognized it immediately. “Now Ebonithia. You ain’t gone and forgotten me, have you. Or was it just me promise you tried to forget?”
Ebony glared as the man she most wanted to avoid walked out of the bushes. “Hello Iserian. What is it you want this time?” She asked coldly.
Iserian pulled out a gun, “Well Ebonithia. You remember me promise right. Well it is time for me to go and fulfill it, see. And I ain’t go’n’ to get me nails dirtied do’n’ it either.”
Ebony backed away fear finally showing in her eyes. Iserian wasn’t stupid. He knew that for a mage to die by gun was the worst form of a death sentence. A mage was to die in battle, or naturally. This was but an offensive remark. And worse a gun can actually kill a mage.
Iserian growled a laugh, “What’s it Ebonithia. You ain’t scared of this ‘ittle ole gun are you?” Iserian asked her sarcastically.
Ebony stared at him, her face defiant. “I fear neither you nor anyone else!” She yelled in his face. A black fire danced in her hands, “You know as well as I, that I have enough power to kill you twice.”
“Ahh but my dear, me carry a dogwood powdered unicorn horn. You can’t touch me. Why me safe from your talents.” Now real fear shown in Ebony’s eyes.
What could she do but wait for her own death? For once she was not the Victorian.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Demetri followed her trail as it wound threw the forest. He stood at an edge of a clearing when he finally found her. She was backed into a tree, and he could smell the fear she held. A man held gun up to her head, laughing manically.
Demetri hissed angrily from the bushes; his teeth began to protrude out of his mouth. ‘How dare this man threaten Ebony. He will pay.’ He thought darkly.
“I suggest you leave Ebony alone.” Demetri hissed as he stepped out of the tree line. His fangs glistening in the light. He stared at the man, refusing to look at Ebony.
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Ebony felt her heart flutter with joy as Demetri walked out of the trees. She glared at Iserian, “I suggest you listen to Demetri.” She growled.
Iserian laughed, “You stay away boy. You can have what’s left of her when I am good and done with her.” Ebony looked at Demetri hoping to see him come towards Iserian, and make him leave her be.
She stared at him, and a new fear heightened inside of her. She stared at his fangs, his shining gold eyes as the turned black. She stared at this…this…this VAMPIRE!
Demetri walked towards Iserian his eyes glinting in the darkness of the forest. “I said leave her alone!” he shouted in deadly velvet like voice.
Iserian finally got a good look at Demetri and was backing off. “You let me be boy. I have a job to finish. I here and promised this girl the next time we meet one of us won’t live to tell the story. And I plan on fulfilling this promise.”
Demetri grinned darkly, and to Ebony’s horror replied, “Then it is your death you have planned, sir.”
***~~~~~~~)<0>(~~~~~~~***
Demetri attacked the man, his moves to quick for human eyes. Within 5 minutes the man lay upon the forest floor, bleeding from the throat. He turned to Ebony his eyes returning to the gold color. He felt his heart drop at the frightened look she gave him. “Ebony Please…”He begged.
Ebony slowly stepped forward, “How…Why?” She muttered.
Demetri grabbed her into a hug, “Are you okay?” He whispered into her hair.
Ebony shook in his hold, “He…he could have actually k-killed me.” She whispered.
Demetri gently stroke her hair, “Shhh… It is okay. Your fine now.”
Ebony slowly pulled herself away from him, disbelief shown on her face, “You don’t know.” She said in surprise. Demetri frowned as she carried on, “Demetri, the one being that can truly kill my kind is a vampire. A vampire is the only thing strong enough to kill a mage. That and our own kind.” She told him, but added in a small voice, “and a stupid gun.
Demetri stared at her. “But that is impossible. My father told me the exact opposite.”
Ebony sighed and slowly shook her head. “One of my kind put a rumor about that out into your kind, so they wouldn’t come after us.” Ebony looked away, “I have got to go Demetri.”
Demetri watched her sadly, ‘Oh what have I done!’ Demetri thought, as he watched her run away.

Dear Dairy,
Demetri is a vampire, I totally can’t believe it. That sorry excuse for an immortal. On a better note, just a few more days till my birthday, 1 less till Stephen’s birthday. I have to remember to tell Phury, Derek…and Thomis that Demetri is a vampire though. They aren’t going to be happy.
Ebony put down her journal, and began walking down stairs. She looked at her family in the breakfast room, before heading out the front door. Phury and Derek were waiting at her front gate.
“Hey Ebony!” Phury greeted her, as she linked arms with Ebony. Phury looked at Ebony’s sad, defeated face. “Ebony, my dear, what is wrong?”
Ebony wiped a stray tear from her eye, “Phury…it is Demetri.” Phury looked at ebony confusion on her face, “He is a vampire. A filthy bloodsucking parasite!”
Phury and Derek wrapped
