Well I am not one to read Harliquins or anything! but my favorite romance of all time is Camille by Alendre Dumas Fils. [Fils means Jr. So this isn't the same Dumas who wrote The Count of Monti Cristo or anything! It's his son] It's amazing, and made me want to cry. It's real short, and isn't corny, or too adult. It's an amazing story.

If you like historical fiction, I like all of Philippa Gregory's books that I've read, especially The Queen's Fool and The Other Boleyn Girl.
If you want your heart ripped out, read Atonement, by Ewan McEwan. It's beautiful.
For happier, lighter fare, check out the Avon True Romance for Teens books... I used to read those things like they were going out of style when I was in middle school. I recently reread one, though, (Anna and the Duke) and it brought back a bunch of good memories. LOL Meg Cabot books are also fun to read.

If you want a different kind of romance novel, one of my favourite books in the world is The Greengage Summer by Rumer Godden. It's really fantastic, I've read it every couple of years because every time I get something new from it - I think the first time I read it, when I was about 11, I didn't even realise it was a romance novel because it's so subtle. but it's wonderful.

The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan. It's set a while back. This girl that just got married meets a boy, who is deaf, however because of the time frame it takes place in they all think he is a demon child. It's actually very facinating, but it's also a very sweet love story.
