Jaden-

They don't trust us and why should they. Ever since Haven rebuked us about having others fight our war, my stomach was in knots. Sarnom's visit twisted my insides even more. But it wasn't always like that.

We were by the lake, my favorite place in Enyieth. After defeating the trolls from the mountains, it was nice to sit back and relax.

"What are you doing?" someone asked.

"Day dreaming," I sighed. Sarnom sat next to me and we both watched the crystal water. I leaned on his shoulder and felt a kiss on my head.

"Jaden we're here!" Sam called. I woke up from my memory and saw the shining lake, still sparkling in all its glory. At least Sarnom hasn't destroyed everything good in Enyieth.

**The post is supposed to give a light to Jaden and Sarnom's thing when he was still good. Sorry if it was mushy**

**Dusty and Caleb are in the group and we are all at the lake. I guess they are staying with Sam and Jaden when Erica, Haven, Twili, and Lillith get kidnapped.**

~Lillith~

I looked at Jaden and realized that she looked to blissful to be stuck with a bunch of teenagers on a harrowing journy through...well...whatever.

"She's plotting my death, I swear she's imagining killing me right now." I whispered to
Twili. Dusty heard me and grinned. I'm pretty sure ALL of them were going to plot my death sooner or later. I just hadn't thought that the adult would be the first to break.

"Well, duh." Twili said. His hand was so warm and I liked it best when it was in mine.

~Erica~

I looked at the lake and felt a sudden sense of bliss swarm up in me like nothing I had felt in a long time. It felt like I was supposed to be there among the soft ripples. It just felt right.

"I like this place." I told Haven. It was only when my cheeks started to hurt that I realized I was smiling. And it felt so good to smiled, even though it hurt.

"You do?" He asked, curious.

"I feel like...I belong." I was about to say more but shut my mouth when I realized what I was going to say. I don't know if I'm ready to tell him how much I don't belong yet...I might lose him if I do that. Wait; lose him. What the heck am I thinking?

**By the way, I think it would be more interesting if Erica didn't get kidnapped...just because torturing charcters makes me giggle.**

Haven
~~~~~
I smiled a little.
"Belonging's a good feeling..." I said. "I used to feel like that."
I didn't realise what I said until she looked at me oddly. She didn't say anything, and I was glad.
Gregory caught her attention at that moment by showing her a 'pretty rock' by the bank. For a moment, I felt angry, and a growl rose in my throat. But at the next moment, it was gone, and only a deep melancholy remained.
A song began to play in my head:
"And I saw forever, in my Never, and I stood outside her heaven."
I shook my head. Where did that come from?
"Haven!" Erica said, beckoning me over. "Look at the rock Gregory found! Isn't it cool?"
Oh. There was the anger again. I nodded at Erica as I looked over her head at Gregory, trying my hardest to look like an animal ready to kill.
I think it worked.
(Elise thinks torturing characters is awesome.
Haven isn't so sure he likes that idea, but Elise doesn't care, of course.) :)
(Elise is also sorry for the pointless post.)
Sam
We passed through the last line of trees and broke into a beautiful clearing, the lake shining brightly in the sun. It's crystal clear waters were just as I remembered them, calm and serene as ever.
"Jaden we're here!" I called as I heard a few gasps of amazement from the girls. Across the lake, the dark shapes of a small group of animals could be seen, looking much like deer. They gazed at us for a moment before disappearing back into the forest without a sound.
"Oh, it's beautiful!" I heard someone say. I didn't bother turning to find out who it was. I could only stare as the memories came flooding back from the last time I had been here, as well as the experience of meeting Sarnom again only hours before.
Jaden came to stand beside me as the kids began to move off to explore, most heading towards the shore. Neither of us said a word for what seemed like hours.
"Do you think we'll be safe here?" Jaden finally asked, her eyes still fixed in the glittering water as if it might reveal the answer itself.
"If anywhere in Enyieth is safe anymore, it would be here. For now, Sarnom's eye should be turned elsewhere. But we'd best not stay long," I replied, my voice solemn, dreading the thought of leaving this place behind again.
Be the cartoon heart. Light a fire, light a spark. Light a fire, flame in my heart. We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark.
Looking up again, I noticed that Gregory had a hard look in his eyes. Following his gaze, I saw an almost animalistic look in Haven's eyes. My palm started to burn a bit and I put the cool rock against it.
Scanning the area, I found our two stalkers (cough). They looked solemn and way too serious for any of this to be good. The sudden happiness I felt seemed to go away. Something sparked in my memory; something my dad had taught me when I was smaller.
Standing, I looked at the lake again; just to stare. Who knew how long we would be here and I didn't want it to be like...well...like this.
"'Sé rím le haghaidh do bheol
'S amhrán le haghaidh do chroí,
Chun seinm an uair tit
A' saol as a chéile." I said, not loudly but speaking the words to the verse calmed me a bit and it shocked some of my peers out of their riff.
~Lillith~
"What the heck did she just say?" I asked Dusty, Twili, and Caleb, whom I'd congregated with just because I could. All of them seemed as clueless as I did.
Jaden-
"You're right, we can't stay here long. But they need rest and we're supposed to meet her here. Let's enjoy the time."
"I'll enjoy it if I can forget him."
"You mean Sarnom?"
"You know who I mean JAden," Sam said. There was almost a tint of anger in his voice.
"I'm sorry Sam."
"It's okay. You're right, we should relax a bit." I laughed, the first real laugh since I left Enyieth.
Twili~
I sat on some moss with Lillith close beside me. "What do you think they're up to?" Lillith asked motioning towards Sam and Jaden who appeared to be having a jolly good time.
"I don't know. They're probably having some kind of bonding time with each other." I smiled a little, "They kind of remind me of parents."
Lillith giggled, nervously. She then turned her attention toward Gregory and Haven who continued to shoot glares back and forth.
"Man, if looks could kill..." I whispered.
Lillith stifled a laugh and called out "Haven, could I ask you something?" As Haven walked toward us, I became increasingly uncomfortable. Although Haven and I weren't unfriendly, we did rub each other the wrong way.
"Can I help you guys?" Haven asked in a weird accent.
Lillith smiled up at him, "Of course. I have this song in my head and I can't figure out the name. Can you help me?" She looked up at him with an angelic puppy-dog face.
Haven rolled his eyes and started to walk away.
"No. Please." Lillith grabbed Haven's arm in a vice-like grip. "I can't remember the name of the song."
"You'd better give in, mate." was my advice, "She's determined you'll know the song that only she can hear."
Haven rolled his eyes a second time and sat down. "Well, can you hum or whistle the song to me?"
"No. I can't carry a tune very well. It might mess you up."
"Okay, well, then, can you tell me what genre it is?"
This continued and I got more and more bored. What was Lillith up to? Did she like Haven and just want to talk to him? I looked over at the other group, fighting down the jealousy that had just hit me. Dusty and Erica seemed to be having a heart-to-heart while Gregory, Kaleb and Kneph were talking to Jaden and Sam. I sighed and leaned back, looking at the pale blue sky.
*sorry for the long post. but now we have the group of kidnapees together.*
Jaden-
I pulled out of the conversation with Kneph, Gregory, and Kaleb and just wanted to be alone. I sat by a shade tree and watched the water. How I wished for my powers again. It didn't seem fair that Sarnom was able to keep his. But you're better than him. And it was for the good of Enyieth Everything was for the good of Enyieth. You are being selfish for a mentor. I felt bad and looked down.
"You seem sad," said Twili. I didn't know that he was near.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were here."
"It's okay."
There was silence between us for a minute. "Do you ever feel that something you're trying to do is not working because part of you doesn't want it to happen?" I asked. He looked at me confused.
"What?" he asked.
"I'm sorry. I'm just thinking too much."
"There's nothing wrong with thinking."
"There is when part of the past is something you don't want to think about. Yet it always comes up when I'm not on guard."
"I think that happens to almost everybody."
I glared at the annoying kid in front of me.
"Well can you tell me some words?"
"I can't remember them."
"Well...I know a few lyrics...Uh..." I pried my brain for any information at all. "I think it's something like...uh...We're not done yet...uh...not going quietly into the night, not me and my friends..."
Haven was looking a bit pissed, but I could care less at the moment. And a bit lost because Erica was talking to Dusty. That MAY have been in my plan, but I would refuse that it was until the day I die...which may not be as far away as I think it is.
Yes, it was quite obviously they were crushing. And it made me giggle
Jaden-
Lillith was walking towards us, Twili and I, with an amused expression. She obviously was done tormenting Haven and probably wanted to bother Twili now. I shrugged and got up.
"Is something the matter?" Twili asked.
"No, but Lillith looks like she wants to talk to you now. I've had enough time venting."
"Sure," Twili said, somewhat awkward. I didn't know what that was about, but I wasn't going to ask. Instead I walked over to Sam, who was still conversing with Kneph, Kaleb, and Gregory.
"You boys are still talking?" I asked.
"There's nothing wrong with that," Sam said back. A breeze blew past us and there was a longing glint in his eyes. He wanted his powers back, just as I had.
"There's nothing we can do."
"I know."
"What are you two talking about?" Gregory asked.
"How much we envy you. Your elemental powers are a real gift," said Sam.
"But our time has past. It's time for new heroes."
"You expect a lot from just a group of teenagers," said Kneph.
"We wouldn't expect more from you than you could handle," Sam answered.
"But can we handle it?" Kaleb asked.
"We think you can," I said.
"No Jaden, we know they can," Sam corrected. But that was the thing. We weren't sure of anything. This was the first time in history that an elemental should fight another elemental. It ruined the balance, and even the slightest screw up could determine the balance between Enyieth's fate. And with this group, it would take more than two mentors to prepare them all for what was to come.
"You have a really great brother, Dusty." I said, smiling. Then I looked down. "I miss David."
I heard footsteps behind me, then they stopped when I said my brother's name. Turning around, I saw Haven. He looked a little bit down.
"Sorry to interupt." he said, then walked away. I guess I'm dreaming again, let's be more than this. Huh?
"Who's David?" Dusty asked, curious. A picture of him formed in my mind.
"He's my big brother."
