I admire my bed
for all its warmth and comfy-ness
during my starlight voyages.
We would sail across my river of memories
and find all sorts of nightmares
trying to pirate their way in my ship.

When we're safely anchored,
I would cast my net out in the foggy water
and find a forgotten friend,
a banana peel never meant to slip on,
an occasional tear I don't regret.

Sometimes I would just
breathe the still, everlasting air
for all of its temporary worth,
with the Moon steering my ship
to the end of my rainbow.

I despise the way the sunlight
bounces off my window and into my eyes.
In those times I would find myself
stripped of my Captain status,
banished from reality
and anchored in dream-land.

Edit: Too many commas.
I'm not here, this isn't happening...

good poem! i like it alot. Some of the things you talk about i really understand, like the simple things mentioned (light bouncing off into your eyes). But since im no sailor i didnt really understand any for the nautical references. Other than my lack of understanding your poem is really really great!!

Right, the poem must have a deep meaning in it, please, :D. It would be an awsome poem, if it were a little easier to understand. You give this to someone in my class, they will say, "I don't get it. Is she trying to say she loves her bed but screw the sun?! :smt102 hehe, but, oncee you figure out what it means, it is not that bad. :D

[Finally someone with structure!]

Ahem, anyway I liked this very much! :)

Kind of reminds me of a story i was writing...
"Show us, don't tell us!" They say, but sadly I realize I'm a storyteller. When I cross over and accept maturity, when I want to change then maybe I'll be willing to show people my prose and not tell them. As a writer I have to grow. :)

And on the pedestal these words appear:/'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings;/Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'/Nothing beside remains.
— Percy Bysshe Shelley
