From years of calculated study I have found out that chasing girls is, in fact, largely a waste of bloody time. The end product is not usually worth the effort.

then unfortunately, jack, i'd have to deduce that you've been chasing the wrong girls.

the thing is, most guys don't need to try so bloody hard. all any girl wants is someone who listens to her and who makes her laugh and who doesn't make her eyes bleed when she looks at him.

is that too much to ask?!

yes. i have high expectations. this whole thread has made it out like girls are really special and men/boys act stupid and do all things wrong, when in fact, it's not always like that. in fact, this is a totally sex role stereotyped thread.

BOYS ARE DUMB.

no, no. just kidding. keep your hair on, jack :)

it's true that girls can be bitchy and pick fights and play games and generally suck sometimes. but it's also true that guys can be mean and stupid and mess the girl around and be general wreck-the-heads sometimes.

so there is fault on both sides.

plus, girls ARE really special, what are you on about?!

but if you keep getting disappointed then it maybe your expectations are TOO high. like, you can't expect her to be perfect. in any relationship you've both got to be willing to put up with a certain amount of crap.

i mean, with all the guys i know they do totally idiotic stuff that is mean and immature and all that. but at the same time, i'm a total tease and a flirt and i wind people up. but if i can put up with a guy screwing me around, he can put up with me, too!

i think that women pick out faults more easily than men. men aren't perfect - but girls always seem to expect them to be.

probably true but then girls go for personality more then guys, so they're more critical. whereas most guys are more critical when it comes to a girl's look because they're more into appearance.

As my psychology teacher would say, that's a "common-sense" argument. Prove it.

i hate your psychology teacher.

but, fine.

"Another fascinating facet of gender sex roles is the fantastic emphasis in our culture on women's attractiveness (discussed in chapter 8). Clothing, hair styling, beauty aids, perfumes, special diets, exercise, and fitness aids cost uncountable hours and billions of dollars. The women's role forms only half of the commercially choreographed intercourse between the sexes: women agonizing over every detail of their appearance and men yearning and vying for the most beautiful play mate they can get. These "traps" consume enormous human energy. Rodin (1992) suggests ways women can avoid finding so much of her meaning in her body, but the other half of the solution involves teaching men to find other parts of females more attractive than her body, such as her brain and interesting ideas, her healthy personality, her interesting conversation, her good values and acts, her purposeful life, etc. If that could be done, it would provide a major revolution."

see also: http://mentalhelp.net/psyhelp/ and go to chapter 8 where it discusses in more detail the differences between genders.

personal experience also shows that girls are chosen more for their looks then guys are. i mean, my best friend is going out with a pretty ugly guy. it's common knowledge that she is gorgeous. but she doesn't care - he makes her laugh. and he is with her, in his heart of hearts, cause she is a status symbol. like "hey, i must be pretty cool if i can pull a girl like this".

it's the role society gives women and it's a role that is enforced throughout our lives. i'm not sure if that is always such a bad thing (fuck, i like to put on make up and look pretty, i'm not complaining) but it does mean guys are 3000 times more likely to say "i would never go out with that ugly bird" then a girl is likely to say "he's way too ugly for me".

obviously, there are limits. i'm not saying girls don't give a crap - we do. but we don't care as much.

fine, you want more proof?

this is an article on how the idea of woman feeling she has to be attractive is detrimental to her and creates an unequal balance between men and women.

just google it!

i'm not very good at proving my points, eh? i just kinda know i'm right! :)

but i mean, i'm not saying it's better that we go for personality of whatever. i mean, a lot of the time a girl's idea of an excellent personality is pretty screwed..she'll want the controlling, distant, 'rebellious' guy. but guys DO require a girl to be pretty good looking, regardless of his own appearance. i mean, i asked this pretty hideous guy the otehr day, who is not only ugly but is pretty bloody mean what he looked for in a girl and he was just like "tits. and like a good face. and is uppose like, ican talk to or whatever." i asked a girl, today, what she looked for in a guy and she replied "someone funny."

so.
yeah.
may i be excused now?

I like it when cute college guys flirt with me at work....hehehe...my older sister hates it. After they leave she's always like, "I'll kill 'em, I swear I'll kill 'em. They'd better keep their grimy hands away from you. You're UNDERAGE!"

Haha...she's worse than my dad...
