Look, a Newbie! Kill it!

Hello, everyone! I am Superficial Faith and I have decided to take a bold step in my life by deciding to post a self-introductory topic in the welcoming forum (oh my!).

Seriously, though, let's get down to the meat of this post:

I am 17 years old (18 in May) and I am a senior in high school. I have all ready been accepted into Mary Baldwin College's VWIL program, meaning I'll have to go to VMI a few times a week next year for ROTC classes (either Navy or Army).

I am a grammar nut, and I'll give you all a head's up now: I do not hold back when I review. If something's wrong, believe me, I'll tell you. I tend to be rather blunt when it comes to my reviewing, and I honestly ask you do the same for me. Also, my biggest pet peeve is when people do not capitalize their "I"'s when using it as a proper noun. Honestly, does it really take that much effort to press the "shift" key?

For the most part, I write fanfiction (on that note, I'm an assistant admin at Fic Haven), though I am working on a non-fiction guide as well as an environmental/sci-fi novel.

Most importantly, I tend to be a pretty friendly (though very vocal) person, so don't be afraid to speak up and pop me a line. I promise I don't bite (often)! Oh, and while I'm on that subject; I tend to be very tongue-in-cheek, so don't take what I say too seriously when I'm posting casually, and even then it should be taken with a grain of salt.

I believe that's enough for now, as I've probably rambled your ears off (it's a bad habit of mine), so bring on the newbie torture; I'm ready!

& I like people who are harsh--sort of! Haha, you have to be kind and helpful too, not to say that you aren't. I haven't any clue. I think you would be great for SPEW though! We shall see.

You don't write any fiction? That's tragic. I don't read fanfic. What do you enjoy to read?

Oh no, I write fiction, but I use fanfiction to build my skills (it really can be a nice writing exercise).

As for reading, I'll read anything as long as it captures my attention within the first three to four pages. If it doesn't, into the library book sale bin it goes! I'm actually reading a magazine at the moment (Writer's Digest, ironically), though a few months ago I read "Rash", which was a very fun romp. =)

And what is SPEW (I'm assuming it's not the Harry Potter one), or do I have to figure that one out on my own? =P

Actually, it would be both spelling and grammar, because formally, there is no word "already". It's just that it has been used so often that it has become an informal word.

Don't you just love the English language?

Oy well yes, hah, if you're getting into the already vs all ready debate! Hehe. With some words though, things end up falling into the lexicon, so already might work?.

Oh no, spam those kind of posts as much as you want, Suzanne! Believe me (and I'm sure you know this as well), when you start getting porn link spam on your forums, you can pretty much handle anything. =_=;

Haha, well then, I'll be sure to hunt something down when you post it. [oh, but of course *mod nerd* critique two things first!] I'm slightly known for being harsh? Actually, I don't know anymore. I critique less now, haha. School eats my time.

Luckily, YWS is good and we haven't been attacked by nasty spam. We're growing a lot though, and we've gotten some advert. spam, for Nike and random things. It's getting a big fast so... who knows. Spammers like us. *shudders*

Look on the bright side. Fic Haven had to close down in order to stop the spam. Now the poor head administrator has to create original code by hand so spammers can't crack through as much.

Poor Admin... Nate is an amazing admin. All the sites I've been on before YWS, the Admin was never seen and rarely if ever heard from. Nate takes really, really good care of this site. We love him a lot! *gives cookies to Nate* The site was down for a few months in '06 I know, but I wasn't around then. This past summer I was here, and the site was down for a week. That was painful and strange, haha. If anything, we have more problems with bugs and needing bigger servers.

Well, I'm currently writing the proposal for my non-fiction book on trichotillomania, and I've started outlining my environmental/sci-fi novel (inspiration decided to strike me last night), and I've just started the draft of a research report for school.

I'm working on two fanfictions at the moment just to unwind and as a gift to a friend who has helped me out so much, and polishing another.

If anything, that school report comes first.

Oh, so that's what SPEW means. XD
