[pre]Come time to wrap the presents,
Christmas, Valentines, birthdays, anniversaries,
people have tendencies they normally don't.

They put on the masks of generosity and happiness,
while they delve deeply into their pockets and cringe.

They pretend to be people they're not,
a world of demons dressed as angels.

Decorations are strung, candy set out and sweet as ever.

Loved ones are gathered,
the lonely wrap themselves in renewed longing.
Pets are shown lavished affection, afterall they're family too.
Or they're ignored.

And when the holiday is over the decorations, candy, and false identities are packed away.
People separate and return to their busy lives. The smiling masks are left to gather dust,
waiting to be brushed off for the next act.[/pre]

This is a rather depressing poem but thankfully I like it!
I really enjoyed the truth to it and it really made me think well done.

Pets are shown lavished affection, afterall they're family too.Or they're ignored.
Or they're ignored...it didn't fit with the flow and if you take it out the poem would work

Also the last stanza it just seemed a bit to rushed and all shoved together if you made it into two then i think it would work a lot better

keep it up. =)

This is a really good, but sad poem. Keep up the good work!
