Under the Eagle is the first of a series of books by Simon Scarrow, I have finished this one and will soon move onto the sequel, the Eagle's Conquest. It is set during the second Roman invasion of Britain, and features a newly apointed optio and his centurion. There are some gripping fight scenes, and there are some wonderful growths with relationships.

I would really recommend it, he's a great writer!
