The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening and The Struggle

Alright so these two books (which happen to be rolled into a beautiful two in one package currently) are about a fanged love triangle. A girl named Elena comes across a new student, Stefan, who is basically the most attractive thing she's seen on two legs... well, maybe besides herself, but who knows. Anyway, she tries to get Stefan to like her, much like every other time she has tried this with other guys (who do anything in their power to get her to like them), only to fail. Stefan partially accomplishes this by avoiding her like the black plague, but because of the painful memories she drags up of his past. The situation takes a turn for the worse when Damon, Stefan's brother, comes into the picture, sending Elena into a world said to be mythical by any "sane" person... the realm of vampires.

sweeeeeeeet...is this like Twilight? you know, with good vampires? or are they scary?

Stefan's the good one, basically an Edward and then Damon is the "bad" one, but both are equally dreamy *sighs*

I like those books too.

I'm a huge Twilight fan, so lately I've developed an obsession with vampire novels. But I have to say, I tried reading the first book in this series...not very impressed with it. I couldn't finish it.

True, when I read it, I was in a 'must read vampire novel NOW' mood so I got through it pretty quickly, but i can see why you wouldn't be able to finish it.

I LOVED it!!! Yeah, I think most of us went through the vampire-novel stage because of Twilight, but nothing I've read so far measures up. This was really good though

I have to admit, I fell in love with Damon, the "bad guy". I don't know why... I just thought Stefan was was too much like Edward. NO ONE can replace Edward XD

I remember these! Vaguely, anyway. They started off well, but by the third or fourth in the series they kind of started... sucking. And am I really the only one on the internet who's never read Twilight?

Probably no one ever will replace Edward...but someone should seriously try.

Yes, Twilight is one of those books that is one in a million, not to mension makes you go all warm and fuzzy inside . I loved Damon too, but then again I liked Stefan (for his Edward similarities) so I was incredibly torn! And I agree with ProfessorRabbit, while I still liked the books, I wasn't too fond of Elena communicating from the dead and then being brought back to life, I can see why the author did it from a writer's standpoint, but as both a writer and a reader I sometimes prefer when the plot is closer to reality while still being considered fantasy. And lyrical_sunshine, if anyone wants to try to replace Edward, they've got to try hard, he's perfect! Then again, he is a vampire and perfection are their middle names...
