So, I'm Kelly. I have some fantasy about becoming rich off of my writing in the future, but don't we all? I really do not like people that say, "I'm going to become a writer," because if you truly are, you are born as such...in my honest opinion, anyway.

I happen to be a very loud person, and not the best with criticism. I can critique alright, all day long, but taking critique of my own work is still challenging for me at times. However, I'm working on it, slowly but surely...

I'll say I'm pretty confident. I stand up for what I believe in, and I let people know when they're being retarded about nothing, so to say.

My fingers are VERY cold right now, and it's making it hard to type, so I suppose I'll wrap this up. Thanks for reading. :)
"Hey," said Shadow. "Huginn or Muninn, or whoever you are."
The bird turned, head tipped suspiciously on one side, and it stared at him with bright eyes.
"Say 'Nevermore,' " said Shadow.
"Bite me," said the raven

I dunno. I'd say if people say 'I'd like to become a writer' then I'd say it's because they recognize that just because you write and think yourself to be a writer, other people may not recognize you as such and unfortunately, as Sarte says, others have the power to define us, though we are only truly defined at our deaths.

=P Can you tell I'm taking philosophy? *just did the exam today*

HI! Welcome to YWS. This is a great site for getting feedback on your work, so don't be shy to put stuff up there (just make sure you read the rules and remember to do 2 reviews for every one thing you put up).

Critiques are hard to take sometimes, but in the end you just have to accept that as much as people might seem to be over critical about your work, they're only commenting to help you improve it. Though you shouldn't have many problems here, people are very positive (yet helpful) when it comes to critiques.

Methinks that's it. I hope you like this community. Be sure to send me a PM if you ever need a critique.

^_^ Keek!

(Lol. My fingers are always cold. Except maybe in summer. =P)

Hi Kelly! Welcome to YWS!

The easy thing is to critique someone elses work, it's critiquing your own that is the real challenge. But rest assured, here at YWS most don't lie about their opinions of pieces just to make the author happy (I guess you could say we also "stand up for what we believe in" :)) but just accept it as it is. Our opinions are meant to help you become a better writer and are constructed in this manner. ^_^

What is it that you enjoy writing? fiction? nonfiction? poetry? novels/short stories?

Well feel free to PM me if you have any questions or anything and I will see you around!

Ciao,

Hey Kelly, welcome to the board.

I half agree with what you said about writers. You don't 'become' writers. Either you are, or you're not. If you truly love writing, if it's your passion, then you're a writer. That's what i beleive anyway.

What genre do you like to write, by the way?

Hope to see you around.

Kadie.

The whole; "I'd like to become a writer." confuses me a little. What would be wrong with saying that? I say all the time; "I want to become a journalist." And even sometimes, I say that I will become a journalist and I wont stop until I am a journalist. It's nice to have goals and stuff, and to have plans for your future.

Anyhoo, enough of that; welcome to YWS!

Feel free to PM me if you need any help, but dont be afraid to ask for help from anyone around here, were're all pretty friendly and everyone is super helpful. I look forward to reading some of your work.
