Hi all - from Gahks

Hi all,

I'm Gahks (that's 'garks', not my real name of course), I'm 15 going on 16 and I live in the South of England. I am British Born Chinese, something I'm very proud of!

My interests are creative writing (obviously), Law & Order, crime/mystery/thriller fiction, scriptwriting, watching films, debating & public speaking and cycling/running.

I have been on several writing courses and also belong to another group called the Kilvites. I've written several short stories, a novel (not a very good one, mind) and some poems, and am currently in the middle of a screenplay for a TV crime drama.

I'm sure you're all a really interesting bunch so say hi if you happen to be passing!

Hey Gahks, welcome to YWS! I'm Lupe and I saw your welcome post had no people saying hello =( So I thought I'd be the first to say welcome. ^.^

I was never one for mystery and crime genres myself but we have tons of members who like and write the same things you do. We all like to critique so if you need some pointers just post whatever and we'll get to it soon. Be sure to put a rating on it so it'll make the front page. You'll get more reviews there.

I don't usually do the welcome thing, but I'm thinking I'll start.

Welcome to YWS! This is a really cool site--the best community I've seen, in fact. ^_^ I can't say I am a big fan of Law & Order, but crime/drama seems to be most of what I watch these days since my grandmother is hooked on CSI and I am addicted to Blood Ties, so maybe I'll end up reviewing something you put up if I run across it.

And I don't know what else to say. =P I assume you've read the rules, and if not make sure you do. My only big tip, if you want reviews, is to review other people's work. It might just be me, but I always feel compelled to review something from someone who took the time to give me a review. ^_^

Hello Gahks and welcome to YWS!!! Another Brit here on YWS.

I did public speaking a few times at school and got through to the finals, but it's a tough competition to be in. What sort of things do you debate? Did you ever do a mock trial?

I have completed my LAMDA Bronze Medal in Public Speaking and am currently studying for the Silver Medal.

I haven't done much in the way of debating but do enjoy the debating element in some public speaking competitions such as the English Speaking Union one.

My first story, a sort of psychological crime thriller, "Empty Summer," can be viewed in "Other Fiction."

Ooh public speaking. Y'know, that's always something that I've wanted to get into, because I'm into the whole stand up comedy thing and that's a way I could start. Edinburgh Comedy Festival is the best bet, I suppose.

Anyway, enough about meeee.
