Well, it's about a girl named Charlotte ho has a horribly negative attitude after she doesn't make it into the school play. On her way home, she finds a stray cat who won't stop following her. She finally takes it home with her and names it Bartholomew, even though it is a girl(She just calls it "Mew"). Soon, her cousin Zee moves in with them from England for reasons only known by her uncle. It then goes into a huge adventure based on Roman mythology involving Demons who steal shadows, leaving the victims (Ironically) shadows of their former selves.
Any more would ruin the suspense, really. Trust me, it's a good book.
I loved this book. You should read the sequel "The Siren's Song" or something like that. I seriously cannot remember at the moment. I didn't like it quite as much as the first, but it was still pretty good.
