Hi my name is Emily and I am 16 years old. I want to tell you about something amazing that happened to me last year in 9th grade. It was a cloudy morning like usual in Kentucky. I knew today wasn't going to be a good day for me because everything I did turned out to be bad. For example today I was making cereal. You think how can anyone mess up cold cereal. But I sure did. I spilled all of the cereal out of the box and spilled the milk. I was thinking "can this day get any worse?" But it did. I lost my lunch money. I lost my all my homework for every class and I missed the bus. So I had to stand in the pouring rain for a half hour for my dad to pick me up. When i got home I said to dad, "Today was the worst day ever."
"You said that yesterday. What happened this time?" Dad asked
"Well I lost all of my homework for my classes. Then I lost my lunch money. Then I missed the bus." I replied. When we got home Iwas relieved that I didn't have to suffer through this day again. The next day was a lot better. I made a new friend named Jerry. He is really cool. I think he likes me though.
I hope we could be more than friends one day but I don't want to rush into things just yet. When I saw him in the hallway I said, "Hey Jerry what is up?"
"Nothing much. how about you?" Jerry replied
"Me neither. Are you signing up for the talent show?" I said.
" I don't know yet. Are you?" Jerry said.
"No way. I have no talent." I replied.
"Come on Emily you do to have some kind of talent in you somewhere." Suddenly I heard something fall so I ran to see what it was. It was a guy that collapsed on the ground. Someone said he wasn't breathing. So I started CPR on him to try to get him to breathe. When I saw him gasp for air I knew he was going to be ok. One peson said, "Wow that was amazing! Where did you learn CPR from?"
"A friend of mine."I replied.
When I saw the man trying to get up I asked him, "What happened sir?"
"I don't know. I don't even know where I am." He replied When the paramedics arrived they took the guy to the hospital. Then this kid came up to me and said, "Thanks for saving my father." Then I said, "Oh no problem. Well I have to go."
When I started to walk away Jerry ran up to me and said, "See you do have a talent."
"Yeah, what is it then?" I asked.
"Saving people's lives." Jerry said. He was kind of right. i saved that guy's life right there on the spot. I was excited but I then thought I still have no talent to enter the talent show with. When school was finally over I was happy. This time I didn't miss the bus, I got there right on time. I told my parents what I did today. They were amazed that I could do that kind of thing. I knew it all along. I knew them CPR lessons would pay off someday.
