My name's Beth Venus, I'm 14 and English.

I found this site through a resource for young writers on www.deviantart.com (resource: http://news.deviantart.com/article/39340/)

I've seen that as an introduction some young writers have given licks of what they write. I would do that, but I'm not too happy with anything I've written up to date, and am currently reworking material and trying to obtain a variety of knowledge and experience. :/

Instead of providing some of my own [attempts at] writing, I'll tell you some of my favourite writers:

Seamus Heaney
Simon Armitage
Jane Austen
Sylvia Plath
Percy Bysshe Shelley
and a world-load of others!

I'll try and provide as many helpful reviews/critiques as I can.

Welcome to Young Writers Society (YWS) I'm sure that you'll love it here! If you have any questions feel free to PM me, although I probably won't be much help I really only know the basics in navigating YWS.


As for your writing, people love to critque and be critiqued here, so don't worry about the quality (I'm sure your writing is awesome!) just gather your courage and post it! You definitely should because everyone will help improve your writing skills and you need that courage to improve.

You like Plath and Armitage? So do I! Have you read the Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath?

If you ever need anything at all then feel free to pm me and I'll be very happy to help.

If you're not confident enough to post your work just yet then I really recommend that you start to read and crit others. It's one of the best and fastest ways to pick up skills and ideas. Also, you have to crit at least two pieces of work before you post your own anyways.
