“Brother! Brother, wake up! Wake up! Hurry! They’ve found us! The lizard warriors they’ve found us! Come on!” I scream.
“Huh, what? How could they find us this time?!” He says weakly.
“I don’t know, just come on!” I help my brother up as he limps to the door.
“OW!!” He cries out in pain and drops to the ground.
“Karri I cannot make this next trip to a new hideout. You go on ahead and leave me behind.” My brother Kyle tells me…
“No. I can’t! You are the only one I have left! If you die there will be nobody! I’m not ready for your death! You are the only one I have left! Please! Please come with me! I tell Kyle. Kyle moves in front of me and grabs my shoulders.
“Listen Karri, and listen well…. you mustn’t be so foolish! You must leave me here and avenge mother and father’s death do you understand?” I nod. Kyle digs in his pocket and pulls out the family charm.
“Here take it. It has been pasted down for generations and now since I have no son or brother I give it to you, my little sister. Take good care of it, please. And little sister, take good care of yourself.” Kyle tells me as his eyes fill with tears and he falls to the ground. As I cry I also look down at his lifeless body. Then, I see them. Three arrows embedded in his back. All this time…while he was speaking with me, he…he was also protecting me!
“Kyle! KYLE!!” I scream. I feel my eyes well up with tears and I start to cry.
“Oh. How unfortunate. Come Karri don’t be sad. You know as well as I do that souls that go to hell always become one of my minions. If you come with me I might spare your brother’s soul and he can pass on to the heavens above.” I look up in hatred and horror as I see the lizard king, King Komodo.
“Why should I go with a beast like you? And who said my brother was going to hell! You will pay for what you did. Mother, father, and now brother, they are all dead because of you! You will pay! I will avenge their deaths. Maybe not today, but one day I will avenge them! You may have won this battle Komodo! But the war is not over!” I scream.
“Karri…” I hear brother’s voice say. I look down and see him looking at me. “Karri run! Run as far away from this place as you can! I will keep King Ugly here busy.” He tells me.
“How?” I ask. “I will tell you in your dreams. Now run! I love you little sister and goodbye” He yells. I nod as a take off towards the forest.
“I love you to brother with all my heart!” I say quietly to myself.
I stop running after a while but keep up a fast walking pace. Suddenly I hear footsteps behind me. I turn around and see three ogres each bigger than the last staring at me with tiny, yellow, blood-shot eyes. I reach for the sword that hangs on my side and begin to pull it out. Before I even get it half way out a short, old-looking ogre steps out from behind the three large ones. “No need for swords, young one.” He says.
“Why isn’t there a need for swords old man? Wouldn’t you feel a need for a sword to defend yourself with if you saw man-killing monsters in front of you?” I ask still pulling the sword out.
“Foolish girl!” I hear a voice yell from behind me. I turn a round just in time to see a huge ogre running toward me with a club. I feel a hard hit on the head and a liquidly substance starts run down my forehead. I pass out with my head still throbbing and the liquidly substance still running down my face.
