Doodlebug- Plus-One
Louis glared down at the ink caterpillar that he'd sketched on his paper, the caterpillar stared back.
Despite eating half of Louis' work, the caterpillar seemed defiant, and continued to insist that it hadn't done anything wrong. This wasn't the first time something like this had happened; Henry seemed to like the taste of differential equations. This wouldn't normally have been considered a bad thing for Louis, but seeing as he was in the middle of a test, he figured that he was in trouble.
"10 minutes remaining."
Louis glared once more at the caterpillar as if hoping it might regurgitate the knowledge back onto the paper, instead it pounced straight onto the second half of the solutions, and munched it's way through the numbers and algebra.
As soon as the last 'x' had been safely consumed, Henry turned to meet Louis' eyes once more, and let out a satisfied burp.
Louis was flabbergasted, Henry had been one of his favourite doodles, he let him out often enough, even played with him during R.E. every week without fail.
He lurched for the ink eraser and released the lid, harshly erasing the outline, ignoring the caterpillar's pleas.
"Put your pens down, and make sure your name is on the paper..."
Louis' head slammed down on the top of the desk, causing classmates to turn and investigate.
"Looks like another fail for you Louis," the teacher grumbled. "Not even bothering to try any of the questions. I'll be seeing you in my detention tomorrow..."
Louis groaned, three weeks in a row, and he'd really tried to avoid it this week.
"...and you better have a good excuse for wasting my time."
Louis' face grew paler. How on earth could he explain that a grumpy caterpillar had devoured his solutions without sounding insane?
He grabbed his bag and nodded glumly as he left the classroom.
