Well, I finaly got round to searching out your story since you were kind enough to look at mine (and add me as a friend too!). It's slightly late perhaps, but here's some critique on your first chapter (I will be reading the rest too in due time ^^ )
P.s - I used your original piece for this, and although I did read the second version I don't think any of the following has been mentioned before, if it has how ever than here's my apologies in advance.
" though I knew all I would see was a sheet of eerie fog." You're using the word eerie alot, try replacing it with another word. Or try something like "all I would see was that sheet of eerie fog"
"My muscles were all screaming in pain and a jarring sensation shot through my shins each time my feet pounded the sidewalk." The word 'all' is unnecesairy here. Unless you twist it around a little, like; "All my muscles were screaming in pain," And I suggest a comma after 'pain' to add to the tension.
"My eyes scurried around in the darkness and found a small alleyway to my left.
Thinking quickly, I made a sharp turn. " Instead of "a sharp turn" try "the sharp turn". We already know that your MC saw an alleyway to their left so we can guess that that's where they're going. if you use "a sharp turn" it doesnt make it as clear that they're heading into that alleyway.
"With a small moan, I hauled myself over the fence. And cleared it. Or so I thought." You have two short sentences after another, to me that's a stop start read. So to make it more fluidly read, try, instead of using a full stop after 'fence', a comma or nothing at all.
"My aching knees protested to the sudden increase in speed and I held my arm rather stiffly at my side as I followed the small side street on my left." Hadn't you already entered that street on your left or is this another one?
"Then I realized that it had a distinctly feline form, but it was too big, bigger than a lion and its eyes were too intelligent, chillingly bloodthirsty, an eerie bright red, glistening with orange tints." After "too big" use a full stop instead of a comma. Use a comma after the word "lion" and I reccoment a full stop after "intelligent". Make "an eerie bright red," into "and an eerie (other word for eerie perhaps ^^; ) bright red,".
"I took an unconscious step back, feeling my muscles tense." Werent you just on a ladder? Saying that you stepped back is like saying you took your foot off of the ladder and stepped out onto thin air.
"I stuttered unintelligibly in disbelief for a couple of minutes before leaning back into the pillow and closing my eyes.
He nodded, eyes still searching mine, perhaps for a clue to how I was going to react next. " How can your MC see him nod if their eyes are closed? And how can he search your MC's eyes this way?
Other than this I don't see a problem. You could possibly describe how your MC looks by making them look into a passing puddle or something, or maybe using that werecat's eyes or the old man's eyes as a reflection? Mind you, I'm still to read the rest so I'm sure all that will be explained later.
Your use of First Person perspective is brilliant, it's like seeing through the eyes of your MC and it makes me feel extremely connected with them. I'm gripped by your story and can't wait to read the rest. (Although I may have to since my fingers are practically frozen ^^; )
