I like writing. I like writing about my inner torment. No one feels pain like those who create. Writers/musicians/artists, we all create things that express our inner feelings. I used to be a normal every day dude, I had no inspiration to create anything. Then I was mauled by a horse, my parents got divorced, my girlfriend left me for a women, I got fired from a job, I was sent to a mental institution for a few weeks... Things changed, A man in an English accent tells me in my ears to kill and kill again. So I'd like to just say hi.
Sounds tough. Well, hopefully you use writing as a creative outlet, versus the many other destructive methods people use to cope with their personal problems. I recommend not focusing on your particular difficulties, (I believe it is better to reflect on what has happened versus living in the past) but using them for a new story. This creates a degree of separation between you and a critiquer.
"A good plot is like a dream. If you dont write down your dream on paper the moment you wake up,the chances are you'll forget it and it'll be gone forever"-Roald Dalh.
Well hello there and welcome to the site! It sounds like life hasn't been too friendly to you but hopefully things can only get better and if they don't, we can always write. What sort of genres do you like?
I like books of all kinds. I don't like books that use old English. Its hard enough to picture what the writer is talking about without there being a language barrier issue. The exception is Lord of The Rings, some of the few books that despite using older English were bearable to read.
I don't very much like popular books (most anything you can find in a rack of books at your local grocery store). I hate books that are written based on popular movies or video games. Its one thing to base a movie or video game on a book... Its another thing to shrink down a book and cut things out or add them based on someone else's vision after the fact.
I think any genre can be enjoyable. Its all based purely on the writers vision and how they can relate that to everyone else. Truth is I mostly read comedies. I very much enjoyed "The Boy Detective Fails". I enjoy biographies too and almost any book on the prison system ("You've Got Nothing Coming by Jimmy Lerner").
I occasionally enjoy Sci-Fi but I would never write for it. I've read so much of it in the past that I honestly can't think of a single idea relating to science fiction that hasn't been done a dozen times in a dozen separate works.
I think books should open the readers mind to new ideas. Most of my works would fall under either Adventure or Comedy. To this date I have completed one story, my computer crashed, I had all but the last two chapters saved to an external drive but I've never been able to go back to it... Writing the final chapters was such an emotional experience that I just can't see myself doing it again any time soon.

Pain is something that only the one who is experimenting it can feel its whole magnitude. There is no comparison points between your pain and others pain, and as many things in life, is also a process. Writting is a great way to clear your mind, to put order in your ideas and to walk the healing process. Keep your writing path.
welcome to YWS. i am sorry for eveything you have had to go throught. thats alot for one person to carry on your shoulders.
the past we cant change, only our futures. i find that by writing things down, it helps to get the emotion out, and is easier to deal with.
i look forward to reading your stories.
Good luck
You seem to have gone through quite a tough time; just think of karma. Things that happen in your life that are bad always have to be balanced out with something that is good.
