Drink the words in by dozens, like honey,
dripping off the tongues of poets and onto paper,
forming puddles that resemble stanzas.
Here! an adverb,
there! and adjective.
Everywhere a crown of phrases and clauses.
In the disarray that becomes the writer,
the gloating look of pride replaced by fear, a look—
bewildered—a deer in headlights:
the statement defies all logic and comprehension.
I’ve only written three stanzas?!
