Horton Hears A Who by Dr. Suess. Love it, but it makes no sense whatsoever.

I think Dr. Seuss would make more sense when you're under the influence of morphine or Vicodin or something after a surgery. xD

"The Brief History of the Dead" by Kevin Brockmeir was really weird. It sort of... plateaued. There wasn't really a climax or resolution. Yeah, some of his descriptions were lovely, but the characters and the plot were weird. There wasn't really a conflict. I was sort of like, "Huh?" when I finished reading it.

Not one of my favourite books. An interesting concept, but poorly executed.

Meep -> to be honest, I could be wrong about it =] maybe the writing style was beyond me when I read it. I was pretty young.. Maybe if I read it now I'd see it more clearly =]

Probably the weirdest book is The Da Vinci Code. The plot turned out stellar, but as it progressed, it got just mind-scrambling and at the end, I wasn't really sastified. Angels and Demons was just a tad less weirder.

Most definitely the Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosinski.

It's not even autobiographical, so I don't know what he was thinking. Disturbed writings from a disturbed mind.

Irvine Welsh always gets a little bit crazy with formatting. In Acid House he has pages filled with the word "LIGHT" and rectangles of meaningless narration scattered around. The plot of that story is weird too. It's not crazy or nothing, but it's pretty bizarre. It's about a hooligan getting struck by lightning and switching bodies with a child being born at the same time.

House of Leaves is also a mad, mad book.

Weirdest stuff ever is John Lennon's book, though. And Bob Dylan's Tarantula. Written in stream of conciousness, heavily influenced by beatnik writers, both are just lines and lines of text making absolutely no sense at all. A little snip:

sorry to say, but i'm going to have to return your ring. it's nothing personal, except that i cant do a thing with my finger & it's already beginning to smell like an eyeball! you know, like i like to look weird, but nevertheless, when i play my banjo on stage, i have to wear a glove. needless to say, it has started to affect my playing. please believe me. it has nothing whatsoever to do with my love for you ... in fact, sending the ring back should make my love for you grow all the more profound ... say hi to your doctor love, Toby Celery

Wow. That doesn't really seem like a... book. Wouldn't that be more passible as poetry?

I tried reading Irvine Welsh once and had to give up due to just... not feeling like putting up with that.

You win.

You know, I don't even remember what the title was, but talk about weird.
Basically, it was your typical knights in armor sort of thing, (and they rode these things that I presumed were a breed of horse. Like Arabians.) In the end, it turned out they were all actually animals, and the horses were stupid humans. Anywho, it was probably the most nonsensical plot twist ever.

I haven't read that many strange books but I'd have to say Der Process, by Franz Kafka. I read it years ago and was probably too young and unmotivated to really put down the thought you need to appreciate it. I hear it's a great book.

"Show us, don't tell us!" They say, but sadly I realize I'm a storyteller. When I cross over and accept maturity, when I want to change then maybe I'll be willing to show people my prose and not tell them. As a writer I have to grow. :)

When I first read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" I thought it was pretty weird. But now thinking back on it, I've slowly fallen in love with it. :) I haven't really read any weird books, if they truly don't click with me, then I put them down.
