In 1st (or 2nd) grade, we did poetry and I was one of the chosen kids to be in a special poetry group. We got to leave class everyday and sit with this woman and write poetry. Our poetry was put in a little book and we read our poetry aloud to parents and different people.
I started writing Fan Fix (my own stories on how I would want an episode of my favorite show or game characters to be like). Fan fictions are still popular today, but I don't really write those anymore.
Along with my Fan Fix, I made different comics and manga stories I would draw and show to my sister. They were pretty funny, I have to admit. I think I redraw them and publish some one day.
I started writing my own stories in my head. They say that daydreaming is really healthy for people and that you SHOULD daydream throughout the day. When I moved to this really boring town and barely had much to do, I would lay on my bed and daydream. A lot of these daydreams came from and still come from online games I've played or still play. I would take anyone from out of the game and start a story for them in my head. I still have tons of stories in my head that I really NEED to write down lol. The story I have about the "princess pirate girl" (If you saw my other post) was in development in my head for YEARS. And another story I am starting now was in my head even longer.
This schoolyear I am taking an amazing class at school called Reading/Writing Workshop. It's the replacement for regular English class and its SO worth it!
We write short stories and learn about how to make our story writing better. We free write a lot. (I LOVE free writing now!) We get a chance to hear what stories other kids and writing and reading. As nerdy as this may sound, that class is the highlight of my day. It's 1st period so it's a lot of fun for so early in the morning.
Some authors that really inspire me are Gregory McGuire (author of Wicked- The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West)
J.K Rowling too (I hope you know what books she's written!!) Yeah I know, that's like everybody favorite author but I think my reason is really good.
I don't write in hopes that I'll get tons of money like she did. In fact, I'm going to college for something else. (I want to write novels on the side)
I want my stories to be loved like her stories are. I just love how when someone says harry potter, kids go crazy. I want my stories to be like that. I want people to say "Oh my god, this book by Jasmine should be a movie" and maybe one day become a movie.
I love writing because its just so fun. To put my thoughts on paper and to have people actually have interest in them. Writing is my life because writing calms me down. I could be so mad at my mom or my sister or my best friend. I sit down at the computer or even in my room with a piece of paper and I free write or I continue with one of my stories and it's almost soothing to my mind. It helps me let anger out no matter what I am writing about. Sometimes when I'm in a really boring class. I take out a notebook with one of my stories in it and I write for the entire class period. (and the funny part is, everyone thinks I'm writing note, even when I'm sitting in the front row)
I want to go to college to be a graphic artist, but if writing takes me further (and gives me a good paycheck lol) I'll stick with writing forever.
I was so happy when I found this website. I've been looking for a website like this for months. I found several other websites, but those were all full of adults and other people. I'm glad that I found a place where I can relate to people and they can relate to me too =)
