Yeah, Merle is Merle Oberon and she is an amazing actress, in my opinion, she was in The Scarlet Pimpernel with Leslie Howard, though not the one I iconed in this post, and Wuthering Heights with Clark Gable, among other things.

The "Fear the wig, bitches" is this total inside joke I have with my friends over the miniseries The Scarlet Pimpernel, because Robespierre has a freakin' huge yet awesome wig.

I love all the Master & Commander ones, naturally -- the 15th one, the plain one, is my favourite.

Leslie Howard was actually in a movie besides The Petrified Forest? Kelle, You've made me so happy! I've only seen Leslie Howard in The Petrified Forest--you know, due to my Bogart obsession--I loved him immediately and went to find other films with him, and I guess I just forgot. *squee*
