Are you worried that one of your characters is a Mary-Sue? Well, if that's the case, you can take the Mary-Sue Litmus Test. The higher you score, the more of a Mary-Sue your character is. I should remind you that the test is no guarantee, and only serves as a guideline, an aid for character development, if you will.

Have fun testing your characters! Perhaps, when you're done, you could share your score?
There's always been a lot of tension between Lois and me, and it's not so much that I want to kill her, it's just, I want her to not be alive anymore.

I posted a link to one of these in the "Character Development" usergroup recently. I find them handy and amusing.

If you're lazy (or suck at math, like me), there's a check-box version here that calculates your score for you. Just click the box if the answer is yes, and it'll do the rest.

The (main) character I play in "the arepee" with my friend Baz came out with a score of 87. :D (Then again, when in doubt, I checked yes.)

I'd bet all of the characters in that would score pretty high, though. (Fanservice on both of our parts.)

Oh, I did this. I was amazing, my characters were 4 and 7. One got 3 more because her eyes were green.

Rohsair got 14, and I can't believe it, but the Raven got 28!!

That's crazy, as I know that she's not a Sue, so I took it again and she got 20. With some things they give, there isn't an option for the one I want, so I'll um and ah over what to put. :?

Don't feel too badly about it. In the check-box version, they mention that Morpheus (from the Sandman comics) got 70, but they don't think he's a Stu. Some characters just score high, but what really, really matters is how you write them. Even the most obnoxious Mary Sue ever could be okay if the writing was good.

Seth only got 7, whereas Elayna got 52! If it hand't been for mental handicaps, then she would have been uber-sue. But they didn't inlcude some things that would have lowered her score by about 10. Still, i always knew she was a bit of a mary-sue, but the way I write for her doesn't show it obviously.
