*me too...*

Jonathon wheeled around a corner in his carriage, watching the trees and houses pass by him. Dressed in his newest ensamble, he was prepared to shake hands, give smiles, and then attempt to leave as soon as he possibly could. It was, afterall, an invitation for his father's presence, not his own. So what could it hurt to just say a warm hello to the hosts and then be on his way back home.

Suddenly, his carriage came to an abrupt stop, and he hit his neck on the wooden door of the carriage.

"Ouch," he moaned. Lifting his head up and looking out his window, he hollered, "Winston, what is going on up there!"

Winston jumped off of the driver's chair and walked towards Jonathon.

"It appears, sir, that you will have a guest riding with you to the festivities this evening."

Jonathon pondered what his driver had just told him.

"But I didn't invite anyone to join me, Winston. Who would be inviting themselves into my carriage?"

Winston looked a bit confused himself. "Well sir, it appears that Miss Madeline Priston will be joining you this evening, if you wish it."

"Madeline?"

"Madeline, sir."

Jonathon opened his carriage door, and stepped out. He walked towards the front of the carriage where the horses had halted and looked up to see Madeline, one of his house maids in beautiful dress.

This time, Jonathon blushed. "Madeline?"

Madeline stayed atop her horse. "Good evening, Mr. Wright. I was told by your father to join you on this trip. I hope I'm acceptable to accompany you this evening."

Jonathon was still in awe of Madeline's beauty.

"Mr. Wright? Are you alright Mr. Wright?"

Jonathon quickly snapped back to reality.

"Oh yes, Madeline. I am fine. I was just-- Well, did my father tell you why he asked you to join me?"

Madeline bowed her eyes. "He told me that I was to accompany you to make sure you stayed the whole evening, sir."

Jonathon sighed. Of course. That was good old father. Always following through.

Sorry if I confused anyone, hopefully this post will clear it up...

Isabelle

Pretty soon all the guests were arrived and seated around the large dining table with my father at the head. Then, there was a knock at the door.

"Were we expecting anyone else, dear?" My mother asked.

"I don't think so... Martha, go answer the door," My father instructed, causing the young maid to jump.

"Yes Master," Martha droped a curtsy and hurried into the hall. Our guests shuffled nervously, feeling it rude to start if another might be joining our table. Then Martha ushered a handsome young gentleman into our presence.

"Cousin Gregory," My brother greeted him, standing to shake his hand.

"I do beg your forgiveness for intruding on your meal," Gregory apologised.

"Nonsense dear cousin, come join us at table. What brings you away from the factory?" My brother asked, sending a maid for another chair. It was inserted between myself and one of the other guests and I greeted my cousin warmly.

"Dear cousin, how long it has been since your last visit!" I exclaimed.

Laney Smith

Laney looked around the table. There was a man she had seen only once at another of the Howden's get to togethers. He was sitting next to her, Elizabeth on her other side. Mr. Livingston if she remembered correctly. She looked towards Elizabeth, she seemed really out of place. Laney couldn't figure her out. She looked towards Isabella who was talking to her cousin.

"How are you today, Mr. Livingston?" She asked him, biting the inside of her lip hoping that was the right name.

Gregory Benette

"Well Isabelle, let me see, it must have been a mere month since I was last in your company," Gregory retrieved a cigar from his pocket, he looked sternly to the maid who at once returned with matches. After inhaling it far too deeply, he spluttered violently.
"Gregory I do say you should come more often," Isabelle commanded, "Mother and I are always distraught to hear of how many hours you spend in that factory."
Gregory sat back in the arm chair and glared at Isabelle's concerned countenance. His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a further knock at the door...

Elizabeth didn't particularly like the food they were serving, but she ate it, keeping her eyes focused on her plate.

"So Miss Elizabeth," Gregory said, her head popped up, "how do you know the Smiths?"

"I had the pleasure of forming their aquantiance today, thank you." Her eyes dropped back to her plate, but he persisted with his questioning.

"How long have you been in town?"

"Not very long at all, I'm sorry to say."

"Where have you come from?"

"I came from London."

"London? Do you live in town?"

Elizabeth nodded, "yes, but it is unbearably restricted. I often travel with my father away so that I might see some hills, I am vastly fond of open skies."

"Quite good. You madam?"he said.

"Just as well, thank you." she replied, and smiled sweetly at him, and he returned the smile, doing his best to look nice.

Warren turned to look at another man at the table. He thought back and remembered the man from another splendid dinner they had at a size of this proportion before. His name is Mr. Bennete, he recalled, and was a good man.

Both people beside me were conversing with others so I took the liberty to talk across the table with miss Smith.

"How do you fare this eve?" I asked her.

"Much better for the present company. I had become weary of my dull, drawn out days but this evening has been pleasant forth with."

"I am glad to hear it. I do hope you will accompany me into the sitting room later," I urged.

"For what purpose?" Mr Wright asked.

"To play cards," I answered.

"I might desire a game," Mr Livingston decided.

"And me too," My cousin, Gregory, agreed.

Lol. I wonder how many mistakes I made in that? Hehe. It probably doesn't make sense to modern or victorian reader.

"Will you be joining us Ms. Elizabeth?"

Elizabeth shook her head, "I'm not all that fond of cards actually." She blushed, "I'm not very good at it."

"Then you're in luck, I'm not very good either."

"How about Bridge?" One of the guests suggested. There were various opinions expressed on the matter and it was finally decided that we would start with Bridge and then progress to a friendly game of Poker.

"You've decorated in here," Gregory commented.

"Oh yes," I answered him. "Does it please you dear cousin?"

"Indeed it does."

"Can I interest anyone in a drink?" My brother asked, waving for one of the maids to attend him.

Elizabeth needed a Coke desperatly, but settled for tea. Bridge was one of the only card games she knew how to play, but she still wasn't very good.

*I know its short, but I need pheonix to post ~.^ heather remind your sister to do so, or this shall defiently fall into a permanant death, or just be horribly written.
