Climbing. Falling. (Dreams #1)

I got the idea last night that I could start writing flashfics based on dreams I have each night or have had in the past. Trust me, I have a lot to work with there. I'll try to make them make some kind of sense. Depending on the dream, it could be a lot of different genres. In this case, I guess it's action/tragedy or something.

Let me explain. Near my house, there is a mountain that looks over the city where I live. In fact, I used to live on that mountain. In my dreams, it's usually even steeper, and sometimes there's stairs on the right side of it (if you're going up, anyway) where the edge is. In my waking life, I really, really don't like driving up or down that mountain. I just flash back to these dreams.

This one isn't too good, because frankly, I think we've all had variations of this dream, and I got bored with myself halfway through. Just consider it a basic idea of what's to come. Next time I might do one of my vampire sex dreams. :)

The stairs were too steep. I could barely keep hold of the next one, and I had to keep my feet sideways in order for them to completely fit on the one I was standing on top of. I refused to look to right, where I could see the entire city below, or down, where I could see exactly how unstable my bearings were.

On the left, cars were whizzing past at frightening speeds. Going down that mountain that fast was a bad idea. Besides the high risk of an accident, cops staked the place out all the time.

I decided to ignore them all. I kept going, focusing only on what was right in front of me. Only three more steps, and I would be at the top. A hand slipped. I was too scared to scream. It took all my strength to swing that arm back where it belonged, and quite a bit of patience to let myself be steady before I tried anything else.

I took a breath. Two more left. Ignore the fact that the cars seem to be driving closer and closer to you, I told myself. I managed to get the rest of the way without accident. Finally, I stood at the top.

A car weaved in and out of its lane and headed straight for me. I couldn't do anything to stop it! I just jumped off the cliff and hoped somehow I would make it through.

I fell, and fell, and kept falling. Finally, I hit the hard concrete ground. Thud! Ow.

I woke up, my back aching something fierce. Please let me not have to go that way today, I thought.

Hm... interesting. Knowing fully well that its a fanfic I still have to say this, there's no depth, no offense but I didn't care if you made it up the mountain or not, if I knew why that would definitely help.

I woke up, my back aching something fierce.

The wording of that part seemed out of place with the others, its like making a list of things you will do, you say I will everywhere else but say shall in one spot.

A hand slipped. I was too scared to scream.

This part would be better as one sentence, instead of that try "a hand slipped, and I was too scared to scream." Also, which hand slipped? It doesn't even seem to be your hand until you read the next sentence.

-Hope that helps, good editing

This isn't a fanfic, it's a dream I had once. ;)

But thanks, yeah, I know, this sucks, I'll do a better one next time. But right now I need to force myself to do a rewrite of a 17-page story. Meh.
